I recently went to what I thought was an anti misogyny meeting called "are men the problem" and when I got there over 50% of the attendees were men. It turned out was a socialist society meeting. I actually left straight away as I had it in my head when I was going it would be mainly women but I felt overwhelmed when I saw how many men there were. I really wish I live to see a day when women can assemble for political discussion and no men are allowed. We would make so much progress.
You go to the political meeting and the majority of people there are men and even though women still make up a quarter of the attendees, men take up all the place and they speak louder and they don't even notice anymore that they are speaking over them. The older male members make fun of the older female members, they call them lazy and useless even though the women are in charge of organizing most of the events, they joke and ask them to bring them a coffee like they are their maids and the women sigh and look a bit annoyed but eventually they do it, and if you point out how mean those men are you are a killjoy because obviously it's all jokes and these people have known each other for years and thats just how their 'friendship' is. All the younger women wear make up and heels, you privately tell them 'isn't that fucked up how machist this all is?' and they tell you 'right!! ugh I've noticed it too, I hate it', later you look at their twitter feed, their bio says "she/they feminist bimbo", and their retweets are about how evil TERFs are, and how great anti-porn and anti-prostitution feminism used to be but now it's all ruined because of the TERFs, the TERFs who keep screeching because they don't want men in their bathrooms, the TERFs who are all bitches for not using she/her to talk about men preying on lesbians.
And these people call themselves progressive and revolutionaries

"imagine if I said the about a woman" actually men say much worse about women. Yesterday I saw a news story about a European woman who had gone to India to cure her depression and she was gang raped and murdered. Most of the comments were men making fun and saying she deserved it. One comment that had many likes said "must not fap" the man was joking about how he couldn't stop himself from masterbating to a woman who was raped and murdered. Other men commented saying this comment "won the Internet"
This is the normal stuff women have to deal with when opening the Internet for a few seconds. And yet you guys will have a literal meltdown because a woman said your personality was dogshite. You are just proving her right and you are actually so weak and pathetic for not being able to take that.
They dont make other women look bad either. I'm proud to be a woman when i see a woman like this with honesty and integrity who doesn't take shit from men.

SSA people: we want the right to marry !
TQ+ males: we want you to call us special names and pronouns, use your bathrooms, play your sports, get your scholarships, you to validate our gender, go to your prisons, be in your clubs, go to your festivals, get into your rape shelters, chemically and/or physically castrate your kids, pressure lesbians to have sex with us and if you don’t we’ll threaten you or hurt you :)

I’ve been listening a lot to Kate Clancy’s Period Podcast and it’s really got me  thinking about the dominant cultural narratives around menstruation. Most girls are taught that periods happen when a woman doesn’t get pregnant each month. While this is true, it’s not the only (scientific) way we can ‘explain’ periods, and it’s an explanation that can hurt young girls.
When I heard that my period occurred because I wasn’t getting pregnant, I understood that:
My body “wanted” me to be pregnant and was angry that I wasn’t (so it was “punishing” me with a period)
My body had the capacity to be (healthily) pregnant when I was 13
Eventually, I would have to “please” my body by giving my body what it “wanted” (a baby)
My body was made for pregnancy
These are very frightening thoughts for a young teenager. They made me feel like my body and I were at odds, and that we were constantly hurting each other. It made me very scared for the future in which I would have to have a child, and very angry at my body for doing this to me. I’ve talked to other women about this, and they’ve internalized similar messages, sometimes without questioning it.
Of course, we could partially solve this if teachers explicitly clarified that no, our bodies didn’t “want” to be pregnant, that periods aren’t punishments, and that it’s okay not to have any children, ever. But aren’t there other ways we can talk about menstruation, too? There are a few I’ve thought about:
In S2 Episode 16 Kate Clancy suggested that we could frame it as the “miraculous” regrowth of the uterine lining every month.
We can see it as akin to shedding dead skin (it’s just something that used to be in/on our bodies coming off). It keeps us healthy and renewed.
Personally, I find it soothing to view it as an indicator of health — and not just reproductive health! My period helps show me that my body is working well and I’m eating enough/not putting too much stress on myself.
As this posts suggests, the period might have also evolved so that unviable embryos could be “washed out.” In many ways, periods help protect us, especially when our bodies don’t “want” to be constantly pregnant.
And these are only a few ideas just by thinking a little outside the box… I’m sure someone who was better at science than me could think up more.
Anyways, this post is just to consider how the ways we ‘explain’ menstruation now aren’t always the only ways we can do it, and to consider the ways in which our current explanations are biased (and the ways in which children may understand these explanations).

I'm never going to get over the fact that a woman was successfully sued for defamation for stating she was a victim of sexual abuse without even naming the perpetrator.
It was such a clear display of systematic misogyny and how much men revelled in it showed to me that they are not going to let patriarchy go any time soon.

Yesterday someone sent me a link to the blog of a man filming women without their knowledge, following them and making close up of their butts, then offering to sell his videos and pictures to the thousands of men liking and rebloging his posts. The blog is called @ukcandidgod. I was thinking of asking everyone to mass report but then I checked his mutuals and discovered that tumblr has a huge community of stalkers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I clicked on a few, those men stalk all sorts of women, including mothers pushing strollers, women sitting on a bench, they also take upskirt pictures and slow motion videos of women in public and they do so with the bravado of men who don't fear any repercussion.
In one video a woman realizes that she's being followed so she enters the nearest shop and turns around in horror when realizing he's still following her and then she starts running. He laughs about it.
In a lot of videos the man describes the woman as posing for him, flexing for him, swaying her hips for him, even though the woman is minding her own business, but he constructs a fantasy in which he's not stalking her but she's luring him instead. In one video the man sexually assaults a woman, grabbing her butt and she immediately turns around and tell him not to do that.
So those are men filming as they stalk and assault women. One post had 14k notes. I'm going to vomit if I look at any more of this. But feel free to report it.
@staff is Tumblr okay with posting videos of crimes against women? Is Tumblr a good platform to profit from criminal activities? It appears so.
