ok RINGS OF POWER RANT/VENT TIME

i’m on tolkien twitter and you know you’ve fucked up as showrunners when celebrimbor fans are literally clinging to individual frames of the same few shots of charles edwards just to have something different to look at. because all of celebrimbor’s story beats have been given to OTHER CHARACTERS. getting seduced/deceived by sauron? given to galadriel. befriending dwarves? given to elrond.

and before you say “but it’ll happen in season 2!” there are 8 episodes.  if the leaks of the destroyed eregion set are evident of anything, there is a significant chance that they are planning on killing off celebrimbor in season 2. 8 episodes left. 8 episodes that will also be stuffed with OTHER plotlines they set up. how is that enough?

and no i’m not accepting the recasting as an excuse anymore. if this is gonna be jeff bezos’s self-aggrandizing pet project, he has literally infinite money, the production could be delayed if they cared about telling celebrimbor’s story. but they don’t.

they had letters, props, ideas they had planned to use and didn’t. because they decided inventing a story of galadriel being seduced and deceived by sauron was higher priority than telling the story of celebrimbor that tolkien wrote, and more importantly, that FANS WANTED TO SEE

celebrimbor is such a beloved character, and literally the ENTIRE REASON that the rings of power even exist! the events of LotR wouldn’t have happened without him! and YET. it’s somehow acceptable to treat him as a side character in his own story???

to make this even worse, i have literally seen people on tolkien twitter claim that celebrimbor “isn’t important”. the elf who made the rings of power. not important. when the show is LITERALLY CALLED “RINGS OF POWER”

i’m probably checking out emotionally after s2. celebrimbor is my favorite character and it’s really sad how little the showrunners and writers actually care. here’s hoping the russians decide to take on the second age and give celebrimbor a rock opera adaptation like he deserves.

@thelordofgifs is the one and only person i trust with maglor and maedhros unconditionally. her writing is beautiful and often heartbreaking and she has one of the most genius ideas on this site. also if you happen to care for eldacar she's your person

@actual-bill-potts is one of the best writers i encountered!! her writing is beautiful and full of feels, especially in the all his towers cast down fic (it is amazing please give it a go)

@swanmaids is your person for elwing/eärendil and everyone tied to them. she's an amazing writer too with lots of (often heartbreaking) ideas

@southfarthing has beautiful gifsets and interesting meta and is generally a great person

@arafinweanappreciation has all things arafinwean which is good and should be appreciated more

@dreamingthroughthenoise - wonderful fics, especially for maglor and finrod

@outofangband is THE worldbuilding blog! i'm more than sure they have an answer or idea to every question, no matter how obscure it gets. They have one of the best meta and writing out there, especially concerning Maedhros and CoH characters. also their moodboards are beautiful. absolutely recommend giving them a follow
