Review #9: Twinkling Watermelon
WARNING: THIS POST DEF CONTAINS SPOILERS. PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE DRAMA. (I will do my best to label spoilers, but I’m not perfect.)
Oh, we are SO BACK!!!
After a One Direction-esq hiatus, I have returned with my wit and thirst to discuss a drama that I loved.
✨Twinkling Watermelon✨
Of course, this wouldn’t be one of my reviews without the…
THIRST CORNER!!!!
I am being so fr when I say this man is gorgeous. His smile takes up his entire face and it makes me giggle and kick my feet every single time. Choi Hyun-Wook is not only so handsome but he plays the role of a kind, charming, stubborn and extremely loud 18 year old so well. Like, I think casting him for that role was the actual perfect choice.
Let’s just take a moment to look at him 🥰
Tumblr media
LIKE THAT SMILE COULD MELT ME IN AN INSTANT
(Also this scene was so cute like he’s so in love pls)
Okay anyway, moving on.
The cast of this drama was actually just way too cute in general. I caught myself so many times watching with the goofiest grin on my face as they all lowkey fell in love fr fr for the first time.
The plot and storyline was so interesting! I really love how they made Sign Language a central part and really shone a light on how difficult it is for deaf people in Korea specifically.
Also, time travel seems to be a trend in recent k-dramas (I’m not mad about it buuut. A Time Called You and Lovely Runner 👀)
Similarly to 25/21 I think they took advantage of the fact that Y2K fashion is popular rn and set most of the drama in 1995. It’s cool to see the similarities!
I think it’s hard to keep my attention for very long when watching dramas if the plot has a lot of filler, which this seemed to have in the middle. It took me a while to get through (the last like six episodes were so engaging tho).
So I felt very meh for the first 15 episodes and then episode 16 had me bawling every five minutes. A huge jump, I know.
(SPOILER) Lee Chan coming to terms with not being able to achieve his dreams while he was under in surgery actually kinda broke me as a person. I was not okay. Also when his grandma comes and they cry together :(. I had to actually pause and take a minute. I was not okay!!
I LOVED the way it ended, though. Eun Gyeol felt like he had failed just bc (SPOILER) Lee Chan still lost his hearing, but seeing the positive impacts that he made really warmed my heart. Like yes, his family had been content and happy before. But now things were so much better and his mom was able to thrive because she hadn’t been abused as long.
The soundtrack went back and forth between being boring and going so INCREDIBLY HARD. The cover they did of 볽은 노을 has been stuck in my head for days and I found the OG version on Spotify and I love it. Also, A Song For You makes me feel so nostalgic for my youth for some reason. I wanna never forget all of my shining moments.
That’s honestly what I walked away with from this drama. I want my youth (and my life in general) to shine so brightly in my memory. I wanna make the most of the time I have so that one day I can smile and know I lived.
Viva La Vida :)
My Rating for this drama is a solid: 9/10. (Definitely in my K-Drama top 20)
Reminder that these are simply my opinions. If this is your favorite drama, I don’t mean to offend you. Feel free to put what you loved/didn’t love in the comments. Just be kind and remember that everyone like different dramas. Also please be nice to me, I am but a normal person. :)

I AM UPSET WITH THE ENDING THATS WHY I HAVENT WRITTEN MY REVIEW OK
I maintain that Yumi is in fact the villain. You can’t bare the idea of getting back together with Woong who only didn’t want to burden you with his entire life falling apart but were super ok with getting back together with the guy who’s feelings for another girl were so uncontrollable he had to physically move. But yeah ok. Bring in a new guy even though y’all def set it up that she was gonna get back with Woong. That’s fine. I’m not salty
Yumis Cells 2 thoughts/predictions:
(SPOILERS AHEAD FOR EPISODE 9 AND 10)
I genuinely think Yumi and Woong are endgame. (Sorry to all the BaBi fans). Ever since they broke up in season 1, I’ve maintained the idea that it’s the “right person wrong time” trope with them. I KNEW they would come back around to each other.
Also, at this point I feel like Yumi’s the problem. Like, she’s landed two really good guys in a row and seemingly ruined it with self-sabotage and refusing to communicate through things.
Now, with the BaBi break up, she had some good points. He was in fact swayed by Da Eun to the point where he had to move. I think that would upset me too.
But I think she’s just too impulsive with these decisions. She doesn’t take time to think or talk it out.
Anyway I’m rooting for my boy CEO WOONG. (Btw I definitely cried when he came back looking all successful and sexy and whatnot)

Review #8: Yumi's Cells (Season 1)
WARNING: THIS POST DEF CONTAINS SPOILERS. PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE DRAMA. (I will do my best to label spoilers, but I’m not perfect.)
With the second season announced, this drama has been showing up in front of me a lot lately. For a while, I thought it looked kind of cringe, which is why it took me so long to finally give it a chance. What made me cave in was seeing that Jinyoung from GOT7 was a part of the show. This drama came out in 2021 and is starring Ahn Bo-hyun, Kim Go-eun and Jinyoung.
Welcome to THE THIRST CORNER!!!!
I'm gonna just say it right off from the beginning, I figured I would simp over Jinyoung the most. He's someone I know, he's definitely handsome and his character (Yoo Bobby) is really sweet.
HOWEVER
Tumblr media
Ku Woong is possibly the most attractive male lead I've ever seen. Like, the way I was instantly smitten with him? His hair is so cute, I LOVE HIS BEARD IDK WHAT ANYONE ELSE SAYS. Also, to be blunt, he's got some tig ol' biddies and I am a FAN. He's so strong yet gentle. I love the gentle giant type idk.
He's also not just physically attractive (100% my ideal type in this drama) his personality is just AHG. He's so smart and level headed. I'm in love with his big juicy brain. The way he does quick math? I'm in awe. But like he's also dumb? The most perfect himbo to ever exist.
Also, he looks like a real life Asahi Azumane (but Korean instead of Japanese ofc).
Like, Woong is absolutely best boy. He's not perfect, of course, but he's so sweet. I can't find any other words to describe the way he makes me feel. I just am absolutely head over heels in love with him. Would do anything for him. I feel like I could treat him better than Yumi. Just come here sweet boy. All I want is one chance.
Tumblr media
Like?? He's too precious for this world?? (this scene had me kicking my feet and squealing like I was 14 again)
Also, as someone who isn't the best at cleaning, the fact that he genuinely enjoys cleaning and organizing is that much more attractive. He's my perfect opposite and I think we could really make it work.
Side note: I couldn't figure out where I recognized him from, but he plays Eun-gi in Her Private Life! (I thought he was also adorable in this role and got severe second male lead syndrome from him). So maybe I'm an Ahn Bo-Hyun fan. What about it?
Okay wow that was a lot. I'm just obsessed with him.
NOW LETS TALK ABOUT JINYOUNG
Tumblr media
His character is unbelievably sweet. I love how respectful he is. (SPOILER) Like, I def could tell he had feelings for Yumi, but did his best to not make her or Woong uncomfortable. Also, Yoo Bobby deserves better, tbh. (SPOILER) His girlfriend was terrible and I hope nothing good ever happens to her.
I obviously have less to say about him because 1- he's not Woong. 2-He actually wasn't around much until the end. I'll have more to say once I watch and review season 2.
Thank you for indulging me as I gush about the love of my life Ku Woong. I feel like I can move on now. (Not move on from Woong but just like move on in the review).
I feel like this drama concept was really original. Like, the fact that different cells in our body control different things. The animation gave a really cool look into the mind of our characters without taking away from the story too much. I think, of all the cells, I loved Hunger the most . He's a cutie and I love the little tteokbokki on his head.
Lets talk female lead really quick.
I was so excited when I realized the female lead was my girl Kim Go-eun. I loved her in Goblin and was excited to see her in a bit of a more mature role.
Lets start with the things I love about Yumi :)
Tumblr media
I love the way that she's most motivated by Love. (Thats an indirect spoiler I guess?) I find that extremely relatable and could really connect to Yumi, especially in the beginning. She works hard and is diligent with whatever she's given. When she does something, she puts her entire heart into it, which I think is really admirable.
Now what I don't like :(
Especially towards the end, it became so difficult to root for Yumi. Maybe it was because I was so wrapped around Woong's finger, but she seemed to not even take him into consideration. If Woong wasn't doing things her way, then he was in the wrong. I do admit, there were mistakes Woong made along the way (SPOILER) mostly just holding too tightly to his pride as a man. But Yumi just kind of did whatever she wanted. Maybe that was just me. She just let too much bother her in regards to outside influences and her relationship. I hope she's grown by Season 2.
The ending gave me 25/21 flashbacks(iykyk). It didn't feel right. It felt like it was just because they wanted a more "realistic" ending and didn't even bother to look at character development. Or even want to put in the work to develop the characters. I was so distressed by the ending that I literally put my head down on my desk and cried for a while. I can't imagine finishing this drama and not knowing there was a second season. Props to all of you that had to endure this long.
In regards to the OST, I actually really like it. The only artist I recognize is J.UNA as well as DOYOUNG. But I think the soundtrack really did well to set the mood. It's also just nice background music for life, which means its a good OST in my opinion!
I'm hopeful that season 2 will be just as good if not better. This drama made me laugh, cry, scream, swoon, and everything else in-between. That's something I like in whatever media I'm consuming, whether it be a kdrama or a marvel movie.
Rating for this drama: 9/10 (It has inserted itself into my kdrama top 20)
Reminder that these are simply my opinions. If this is your favorite drama, I don’t mean to offend you. Feel free to put what you loved/didn’t love in the comments. Just be kind and remember that everyone like different dramas. Also please be nice to me, I am but a normal person. :)

Review #7: Racket Boys
WARNING: THIS POST DEF CONTAINS SPOILERS. PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE DRAMA. (I will do my best to label spoilers, but I’m not perfect.)
I had seen this drama floating around on Netflix for a while, but wasn't sure if I would be into it. I finally decided to give it a go, and I actually enjoyed it.
This is where we would normally have a thirst corner, but the main cast of this drama are middle schoolers, so I'll just say this.
Tumblr media
Kim Seung Cheol had me by the throat. Like, he was so sexy for this role. (SPOILER HERE) idc that he ended up not being a good person. He was so hot.
Anyway, this drama was really cute. As someone who usually watches romcom dramas, this was a refreshing break from all of that. It gave me similar vibes to Haikyuu, a group of boys who are working their hardest to achieve their goals.
I also just really love watching the boys grow up and also grow closer as friends. It was definitely just a nice wholesome drama that also talked about some big issues for student athletes in Korea.
I think because people called them Racket Sonyeondan, there was a bunch of BTS references/songs, which i thought was adorable.
There is some romantic subplot between the boys and girls teams and I love how wholesome it is. It's very age appropriate.
The soundtrack was really good. If you're a Deboi, there's a song by THE BOYZ on the soundtrack called "Will Be" that is a certified banger.
Rating for this drama: 9/10 (A high rating for me)

Review #6: The Sound of Magic
WARNING: THIS POST DEF CONTAINS SPOILERS. PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE DRAMA. (I will do my best to label spoilers, but I’m not perfect.)
Yet another Netflix drama that I had actually been looking forward to for a while as a fan of Hwang In-Yeop (more on that later!!). This is actually the first drama I've ever watched that doubled as a musical (and not in a comedic relief one off type of way).
Welcome to THE THIRST CORNER!!!!
As I said before, my precious boy Hwang In-Yeop. I've been obsessed with him since first seeing him in True Beauty as best boy Han Seo-Jun. His character in this drama, Na Il-Deung, did not disappoint. He was sweet and complex and it was nice to see In-Yeop not in a badboy role. (even though i love the badboy roles don't get me wrong) But also his song gave me the most serotonin. I love him more than anything. I missed him dearly.
HOWEVER
can these casting directors please cast this man as a god damn adult one time. He's over 30. I wanna see sexy college student vibes at least. (SPOILER) When he was in his suit driving that sports car down the road with the blessed part in his hair, I felt things. And I was like, CASE AND POINT PLS CAST HIM AS AN ADULT.
Tumblr media
Now, I could talk forever and ever about my baby boy Hwang In-yeop, but lets move on to the other resident hottie of this drama.
JI-CHANG WOOK MY BELOVED!!
Tumblr media
I know people differ on their opinions of him, but I've just decided I don't care. He's adorable and I love him. He's also a really fucking good actor? Like? Of all the male actors I've seen, he's in the top five for most convincing cries. I adored him in both Suspicious Partner as well as Melting Me Softly. This drama was definitely no different. And I was so shook with how well he sings! My man's got a heavenly voice! All around cutie- I love him.
I really liked the plot, even though it is a bit overdone (poor girl with way too much responsibility ends up going through a bunch of terrible stuff until being rescued by a handsome older man who is intrigued by her). The main character was not my favorite, but she did her part well.
Also, the main point of the drama was pretty relatable as a human. It was cool to see the point being that (SPOILER) being an adult and making adult decisions won't always make us happy. We can't run on a smooth path that's laid out for us if we aren't happy doing so.
As expected, the soundtrack was pretty good. Like I said above, Hwang In-yeop's song is my fave. I already knew he had a great singing voice and the song made me swoon. The rest was pretty good too!
With only six episodes, this drama is quick and easy to watch. I will say however, the ending left a little to be desired. Many loose ends were left un-tied and I was left wondering what happened to many characters. Maybe that was the point? Regardless, I liked the drama!
Rating for this drama: 8/10
Reminder that these are simply my opinions. If this is your favorite drama, I don’t mean to offend you. Feel free to put what you loved/didn’t love in the comments. Just be kind and remember that everyone like different dramas. Also please be nice to me, I am but a normal person. :)

Review #5: A Business Proposal
WARNING: THIS POST DEF CONTAINS SPOILERS. PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE DRAMA. (I will do my best to label spoilers, but I’m not perfect.)
Another contender in the wave of Netflix dramas, A Business Proposal gives us the juicy enemies to lovers moment we always love.
Welcome to THE THIRST CORNER!!!!
I'm going to admit something that may seem shallow. I only watch a drama if I find the male lead at least some-what attractive. Therefore, I was a little hesitant to watch this drama. NOW THIS IS IN FACT THE THIRST CORNER SO YOU GOTTA KNOW THAT HE GREW ON ME VERY QUICKLY!!
Tumblr media
I think the like one photo I saw online beforehand did NOT DO HIM JUSTICE. He is so fine. I'm obsessed with him. Kang Tae Moo is absolutely everything. As is Ahn Hyo-seop (his real name). I've seen interviews of him and his irl personality is also so cute. He instantly shot up onto my top fave actors list. (Which doesn't happen often?)
YOU THOUGHT IT WAS OVER? NOPE.
Is he the second male lead? Does the second male lead need to be in love with the female lead? Idk, but he's hot and I love him.
Tumblr media
Kim Min-kyu is adorable in general. (I had conveniently just finished "Because This Is My First Life" before watching this so I had already seen this cutie before). But his character especially had me SWOONING. Cha Seung-hun is so beautifully stoic yet emotional. He's also a great balance for his bestie Tae-moo who is the king of emotions (which he def got from his drama obsessed grandpa).
Tumblr media
The plot was cute- I enjoyed it a lot. If you've seen "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim" with Park Seo Joon, then this plot (especially the male lead) may have felt a little familiar. However, this drama was everything "WWWSK" wanted to be. Not only did the male leads give us absolutely EVERYTHING, but so did the female leads!!!
The female lead (Kim Sejeong) absolutely delivered. Not only was she beautiful and full of emotion, but she was SO RELATABLE! Ha Ri was just doing her best while essentially surrounded by all of these rich people problems (on top of her own!) (Also, the Samantha and Rachel bit had me IN TEARS iykyk) Her outfits were also ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! I loved the fashion in this drama.
Tumblr media
The second female lead (Seol In-Ah) made me a fan of her in this drama. In case you forgot, she plays a side character in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon who is terrible and annoying. But this role absolutely redeemed her for me. Young-seo is adorable but also so admirable. I love that she's willing to stand up for herself to her dad. And even willing to work hard, which is rare among rich kids in dramas! Also, (SPOILER) HER CHEMISTRY WITH SEUNG-HYUN IS EVERYTHINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. I love their relationship!!
Tumblr media
I'm gonna be real- I really liked grandpa at first. He was cute and endearing and seemed to really love Tae-moo. But as the show went on, he turned more and more into the old mean chairman and it just made me sad. I know they want the drama, but his character was too confusing.
The ending felt rushed? This seems to be a trend in the newer Netflix dramas. The first like 7/8 of the show are really really good and then the last like two episodes are so messy. NETFLIX ITS OKAY TO ADD LIKE ONE MORE EPISODE. WE WILL WATCH IT.
In regards to the OST, it's all great. I have a playlist called "Main Character: K-Drama Edition" and I added all the songs on there. Melting by BamBam is my fave! (NOT RELATED BUT GOT7 COMEBACK IN MAY!!!)

Review #4: Coffee Prince
WARNING: THIS POST DEF CONTAINS SPOILERS. PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE DRAMA. (I will do my best to label spoilers, but I’m not perfect.)
This drama, straight from 2007, is definitely reminiscent of Boys Over Flowers. Which makes sense since they're from the same era of dramas.
Welcome to THE THIRST CORNER!!!! This is my fourth review and I've realized that I thirst over characters around this time so I'm making a thing.
OUR MALE LEAD. THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. GONG YOO!!!! (AND YOUNG GONG YOO?? Like, he's so fine in Goblin, but 2009 GY just hits diff.)
Tumblr media
Look, I will never complain about some good ol' fan service. They know their audience. But this isn't about the GIF. Anyway.
It was so exciting to see him play a young/immature character. Like, there are flashes of it in Goblin, but it was kinda cute to see him play a flirty playboy who runs around with daddy's money?? Obviously, he has character development, but I just really found myself simping for him most of the time idk.
OH YOU THOUGHT THAT WAS IT? NAH SON. THERES ONE MORE. MAY I PRESENT NOH SUN-KI (played by Kim Jae-Wook)!!!!
Tumblr media
LIKE??? Every single time this beautiful man with his long hair in a cute lil ponytail and black painted nails came onto the screen all I could think was that one tiktok audio that's like "CMON FUCK ME EMO BOY". I was down so bad for him the entire time. Like, if he bossed me around I would simply be like "yes sir" and not even mind it.
I had also just watched Her Private Life (where he plays the male lead) before so when I realized who he was I was like-
Tumblr media
So, safe to say I was also in love with him. His character has such an intriguing sub plot that I wasn't reaching for my phone when his backstory would come on. Unlike some people... We'll get there.
The plot, overall, was fine. I mean, it just felt like it was longer than it needed to be? It could have easily been 12 episodes instead of 17. I had to stop watching for a while because it was just random drama (not the good kind imo) every five minutes.
Let's talk about the female lead. Honestly, I think it was in fact shitty of her to keep it a secret for so long that she was in fact a woman. Like, she had SO MANY opportunities and her excuses just weren't justified enough. The amount of times I found myself having to pause the show in frustration because of her was way too many. I get it- she was in conflict about it. I would be too. But there's no way you could see exactly where that ends up? She also just seemed dopey and naive, especially when she was supposed to be the breadwinner for her family and apparently so much more mature. Other than wanting to work hard and stand on her own, I didn't find her very relatable. Definitely not my favorite of all the female leads.
Tumblr media
The only supporting cast that I found myself really loving was the boys at the coffee shop. They were so kind and (for the most part) super cool with the fact that Chan was a girl. Han Sung and Yoo Joo, however, were the most annoying. Towards the end of the show, I was so desperate to finish it that I skipped their sub-plot scenes. Terrible of me? Maybe. But I just wasn't into it. Their sub plot seemed to never make its way back to the main plot once Chan made it clear she wasn't into Han Sung.
I'm noticing that quite a few dramas have awkward age gaps. Like, yes, Chan isn't in high school so it isn't THAT weird, but she seems so young in comparison to Han Kyul and the whole crew. This in mind(SPOILER) , her refusing to get married for four more years is (of course) a big deal for someone who's literally 30. Like, yes, the relationship didn't start with marriage in mind, but had that thought never occurred to her? She hardly ever took Han Kyul into account when making these decisions herself, which is a big relationship no no?
I've never watched a drama that made me say "uh, what the fuck?" out loud so many times. Like, they show a little kids whole naked butt cheeks like its nothing? No blurring or anything? Also (spoiler I guess?) Yoo Joo and Han Sung did some weird couple-y stuff that made me never want to date. The finger boots thing? Is that a normal couple thing? They were just weird- maybe they were trying to make a point in showing that after 10 years they're comfy together?
Now, you may be thinking "Wow, this person hated this drama". No, that's not entirely true. There was a lot of beautiful moments in the coffee shop. And (SPOILER) watching Han Kyul grow from a playboy into someone who takes his life seriously was really cool to watch. I think my main problem is the amount of hype this drama has? People saying this is their comfort drama? Not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, but I just don't see it. While this drama was okay, I will probably not willingly watch it again.
In regards to the OST, there wasn't any music that I thought "Gotta have this on my playlist!!". I don't even remember much of the music, tbh. It didn't impact me the way Stand By Me (and a good chunk of the OST from Boys Over Flowers) did.
Rating for the drama: 6.5/10
Reminder that these are simply my opinions. If this is your favorite drama, I don’t mean to offend you. Feel free to put what you loved/didn’t love in the comments. Just be kind and remember that everyone like different dramas. Also please be nice to me, I am but a normal person. :)

Review #3: Twenty-Five Twenty One
WARNING: THIS POST DEF CONTAINS SPOILERS. PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE DRAMA. (I will do my best to label spoilers, but I’m not perfect.)
Unless you've been living under a rock and aren't on the Netflix K-Drama train, you have definitely heard something or another about this drama. As I'm writing this review, the last episode came out like a month ago. So, it's all pretty fresh! I put off watching it for a while because I just couldn't get into it. Of course, I love my boy NJH (Nam Joo-hyuk), but the plot takes a bit to get into. So, lets get right into it.
As I said before, the male lead is none other than the boyfriend of our dreams, Nam Joo-hyuk.
Tumblr media
I've loved him in every single drama I've seen him in. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (my fave of his roles so far), Bride of the Water God, and Start Up. And this role was definitely no exception. I always find myself envious of female leads with him (lol). It seemed like his trope in this drama was a cute older boy next door type vibe. Was giving friendly neighborhood oppa that your mom wanted you to marry. In comparison to Strong Woman, he seems older and more mature. It has been five+ years, so that makes sense. Anyway, I could talk about him all day so let's move on.
The plot was such a cool original idea. I really liked how Hee Do's daughter got a front row seat to her mom's peak years of youth. (Small note, most of this drama takes place in the late 90's and I found that a lot of the fashion trends are on trend for today. So that's kinda cool.) The plot was relatively easy to follow, aside from me being confused by my own predictions not coming true for some reason (lol). I knew absolutely nothing about fencing going into this drama, but now I think I could watch a fencing match and at least somewhat understand what's happening there.
- The female lead definitely took time to grow on me. However, as she matured (and as I learned more about her), I found myself connecting with her. Hee Do is definitely the sweetest they get, full of grit and never willing to back down. I had never seen the actress before (Kim Tae-ri), but she did well.
Tumblr media
- The supporting cast was absolutely wonderful. I found myself longing to be their friends, to go for late night snack runs with them, or to just be a part of the beautiful connection they had.
- The age gap between Hee Do and Yi Jin confused me a little. I know Korean age makes it even more confusing, but Yi Jin had been out of high school for four years and was hanging out pretty much exclusively with seniors in high school. I've been out of high school for a hot minute and wouldn't even consider hanging with high schoolers. Or even being my age and dating a high school senior. But no one else seemed to have a problem with that, so? And I guess they technically didn't actually date until she was basically done with high school? Still feels weird.
- (MANY SPOILERS HERE)I definitely hated Yu-Rim at first. However, I think they were going for that? Like, she was supposed to be a hateful bitch? So, when her attitude totally changes when she finds out that Hee-Do is Ryder37, it kinda gave me whiplash. OH LETS TALK ABOUT THE CHAT ROOM. I SWORE it was Yi Jin and was like "THATS SO CUTE I LOVE THAT" just for it be the bitch she hated the most? I mean, that obviously brought them together and yes I definitely cried when they hugged after their match in Madrid but STILL.
- (ALSO SPOILERS HERE!!!) THE ENDING WAS ASS. THERE, I SAID IT. I hate realistic endings idc. While I do understand the point they were going for, I didn't want it. I had spent 14 episodes convincing myself that Yi Jin was the father, just for their relationship to end like nothing. And that end credit scene with Yi Jin typing that Hee Do was his first love? So what? Is that a consolation prize? I finished this drama annoyed more than anything. I want to feel the warm fuzzies I usually feel when a drama is well done. We didn't even get to see Ji Woong and Yu-Rim get married. (Quick rant here) I hate how people are begging for more "realistic" dramas (like Nevertheless). I'm not watching a drama because I want something real. If that were the case, I would watch literally anything else. If it's not broken, don't fix it. I find comfort in the cliches, when I can tell exactly what a male lead is going to say after the female lead says the sunset is beautiful (looks at her and says "yes, it is."). Obviously, I want the industry to improve and find creative ways to tell stories, but a LaLaLand type ending is not it chief.
-The character that impressed me the most was most definitely Moon Ji-Woong. Even though he only had small windows to show his story, we were able to even see his growth through it. I really enjoyed his character growth and watching him realize that (SPOILER) he doesn't need the whole world to pay attention to him. He has people who love him for who he is.
-Like many of the Netflix dramas, this drama has a pretty dope OST. There were a few songs I wasn't like ecstatic over, but the vibes were there.
Rating for this drama: 8/10

Review #2: My Roomate Is A Gumiho
WARNING: THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS. PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE DRAMA. (I will do my best to label spoilers, but I’m not perfect.)
I had seen this drama all over my suggested page on Viki for months before finally deciding to give it a watch. I had just rewatched a bunch of my comfort dramas and wanted something new.
Firstly, I thought the female lead was in one of my favorite dramas (While You Were Sleeping) but it turns out that they just look shockingly similar.
The plot was easy to follow and progressed at a pace that was enough to keep me engaged. There were many lovable characters, and the chemistry between the main characters was nice to watch. I think I finished it in about a week, which is pretty standard for me. So, here are my thoughts.
- the whole premise of the Gumiho is kinda confusing to me. They’re these conditionally eternal beings who have a little bead in their tummy to help them turn human. Why do they get powers? Why do they get to live forever if (SPOILER!!!) the whole point is learning to be human? That might just be me, though.
- the age gap between the male and female lead is a little uncomfy. Like, yeah, he’s already 900 years older than her. But he even looks a solid 10 years older than her in his eternal form.
- (MANY SPOILERS HERE)I will say, I think that Jae Jin and Hye Sun had second place for most impressive character development. They both grew so much and even grew together. I loved watching Hye Sun realize that she can be loved and cherished without giving anything in return. It warmed my heart.
- (ALSO SPOILERS HERE!!!) Best character development, however, has to go to Sun Woo. He grew from this self-centered prick that I couldn’t stand into a second male lead that made me feel so sad that I was crying for him. He just had genuine interest in Dam, but he realized too late.
-Lee Dam is a great main character. She’s relatable, independent yet loves so deeply, and super loyal to her friends. I really enjoyed getting to know her in this drama.
-As far as OST, I liked the song Pink Cheeks by Eldon. :)
Rating for this drama: 8.5/10

Review 1: Extraordinary You
WARNING: THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS. PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE DRAMA. (I will do my best to label spoilers, but I’m not perfect.)
I started this drama hopeful and excited. I had heard great things about it and was very interested in the concept. A character in a comic book becoming self-aware and trying to change their fate is a super cool idea! I was hooked for the first 10 episodes, binging them all in one day.
However, that’s when the show hit a lull. With only 30 minute episodes and a 5-10 minute recap in the beginning of the new episode from the previous episode, it felt like the show was moving inch by inch. As a viewer, I was frustrated and a little bored. The characters seemed to be freaking out about the same issue over and over, which made the show feel like it was a loop. Around episode 11, I checked to see how many episodes were left in order to gage how many episodes I would have to power through in order to get the ending. Finding out there were 20 more episodes was enough to make me turn the T.V off and head to bed.
A few weeks later, I decided to suck it up and finish it. I wanted to see the resolution and the potential character development. I finally finished it and have some thoughts, now that I’ve finished it.
- I think this show would have been better off having hour long episodes rather than the 30-40 minute format. It would have helped the story flow better and would have helped me not feel like I was stuck in a loop.
- I thought Eun Dan Oh was a great character and I really appreciated her strive to live the way she wanted. There were moments where I found myself annoyed with her character, but I think that’s what creates the human connection.
-(SPOILER) I think the redeeming factor for this show to me was Baek Kyung’s character development. He went from angry and annoyed to thoughtful and full of emotion. His redemption arch was very similar to that of Zuko from ATLA. A bit rocky, but ended up becoming the best boy.
- This is definitely one of those high school drama’s that’s a little cheesy and filled with over reactions. If that’s your thing, more power to you! I’m just not a fan, personally.
- Also, if you're a STAY, Stray Kids did one of the better songs on the OST! It’s called "Story That Won't End (끝나지 않은 이야기)"!
Overall rating for this drama: 7/10
