I scream about the Cobalt Prince
because he just fascinates me idk-
Like, there's something very tragic about him once being literally a kid, presumably so traumatized by the tragedies of war, that he loses himself to the mimic. Traumatizing more children in the process. I usually write it as him having lost his parents in the five worlds war, and being resentful because of that. And being a naive, angry kid with too much power at his fingertips, it pretty much led the mimic right to him. Easy access.
Him already being a puppet of the council, and then the mimic taking over. And then just him losing himself further and further, presumably not aging, and just imagining someone losing themselves to that, to the point the initial grief isn't there anymore. The Prince is dead, and the mimic is just using his body as a puppet.
Also interesting that Stan Moon was the main vessel, and I wonder if it's just because he had a wider reach of power, or if the Prince the whole time was just a tool to get to the heart. I mean, of course he was, but with Stan Moon, it didn't discard him nearly as easily, and grew into him. Possibly because Stan Moon was already probably a pretty bad dude overall, and the Prince was a naive, angry kid.
I wonder what the Prince's good ending could have been, if there was ever a possibility for one. Like, could he have found a family, or grown into a good ruler, or done anything at all? He was a kid.
Idk there's just something about him that makes me feel things, and look into everything far too much, and he's just. Interesting.

I like Silent Salt a lot actually. So I drew him but I mixed his cannon outfit and his concept outfit together for maximum aura.
There is something so metal about a heavily armored guy also wearing a gothic wedding dress.
Tumblr media
I don't think I'll be doing color, even if it would look tuff with the black and purple.
(Don't mind my rambling in the tags)

Starry Golden AU:
Tumblr media
'was it worth it?'
The au is based off of those runaway fics that were popular after eclipse lake, except the reason he had to leave is because he found the Collector. (Who is upset bc they never got betrayed by Belos and think Hunter ruined their chances of being freed.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Together they both learn how screwed up their time with Belos actually was, while evading the gaurds.
The plot would follow their misadventures around the boiling isles and also them being homeless. Hunter got his ear chopped off and is just trying to survive; He doesn't really trust the Collector yet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It would be set after Eclipse Lake but before Any Sport in a Storm
They have so much unused "chaotic little sibling and traumatized older brother" potential.

I saw people comparing their first version of an OC to the same OC now and decided to do it with my TOH OC Sasha:
Tumblr media
It's crazy how much can change in 3 years, they are practically two different characters.
I originally made Sasha to be a friend/support figure for Hunter who had a lot more sympathy for him.
Now that friendship is a lot rougher since current Sasha has a natural hatred of authority figures, including the Golden Gaurd.
But overall, Sasha feels much more like her own person now, rather than a copy/paste of Luz (as far as personality and backstory)

I don’t say it often enough but I freaking LOVE your take on the Archivist lore! With so little canon details to go on, and The Collector arguably an unreliable narrator (through no fault of their own), they are an enigma of the TOH universe with questions of whether their actions are malicious or not. I really like how you have characterized and fleshed them out. And, coming from a background of ecology and veterinary medicine, some of your pieces have hit uncomfortably close to home. And just to clarify, coming from me, that is high praise of your work! love works that make the audience think, reflect and maybe feel a bit uneasy when they do.
Tumblr media
Thank you so much! it means a lot to me and Im super happy comics do give off bit of that effect:> I always enjoyed whenever villans or generally antagonists had actual reasons for doing what they do. Its not just evil for the sake of evil, there is some reasoning behind it.. ooor lack of understanding for those affected by their actions. Like Collector wasn't being malicious in wanting to play with everyone. But since they come from an entirely different background and perspective their games can seem malicious from the point of view of someone who only experiences their effects. This concept tied up with ecology and the horrors of space.. just feels like a fun story:p

before i preorder, are there any major differences between the paperback and hardback versions (like a special design under the dust jacket)?
There aren’t any major differences aside from having a sleeve/flaps and the back art not having words covering it, so it’s really whichever works for your budget! Although (and I might be a little biased) I do think the hardcover version looks REALLY GOOD. I made a little video of it on my Instagram!

Gravity Falls was strange, and the townsfolk even stranger, it seemed.
The twins had been unceremoniously dropped off on the side of the dusty road, the roar of the bus engine fading away as the driver wordlessly drove off without fanfare. The poor man had almost seemed close to tears ever since they had entered the thresholds of this seemingly innocuous town, all too eager to speed off and away while leaving the two children coughing and wheezing in its dust.
It had not even been a full minute since their lackluster drop-off before they became well acquainted with the oddly sociable and irritatingly chatty inhabitants of Gravity Falls. A single conversation with a pair of boisterous policemen already told them all they needed to know about the history of the town, as well as the whereabouts of their Great Uncle Ford.
"The Mystery Shack," the townsfolk had called it. It seemed as though their distant uncle had earned himself somewhat of a reputation amongst the locals. He was the town cryptid; the ever elusive mad scientist that lived in the outskirts of town in this so called "Mystery Shack". No one really knew who he really was; but everyone knew exactly who he was.
So, when the twins found themselves stood hand in hand in front of the rickety old shack, they hadn't really known what to expect when door had swung open with a deafening slam.
Tumblr media
He was a strange man, their Great Uncle Ford. He seemed nothing like the cackling looney lab-coated madman they had imagined from what meager hushed information the townsfolk had offered them. It seemed as though the tales of a scientist gone mad that experimented on stray children that wandered into his spooky "Mystery Shack" was but a cruel rumor.
He mostly just seemed unhealthy, to be honest. His sickly, pale frame utterly drowned in the thick red woolen sweater that practically seemed to hang off of his lanky body like a second flap of skin. It made him look almost child-like, like a kid trying on their parents clothes; which somewhat diluted the intimidating effects of his looming height.
Although, the townsfolk's apparent fear of their Great Uncle Ford seemed to have some merit.
For one, Grunkle Ford really didn't seem all too human. He wasn't inhumane, per se; just, not entirely himself, if that made any sense. Looking at him was like looking at an incomplete puzzle; or looking at someone who you remember all your life wearing a hat, suddenly coming to work one day without one, and it takes a little too long for you to remember what is missing.
It was like Grunkle Ford had lost pieces of himself. Somewhere, to someone. His eyes seemed... almost empty. They were a little too dull and a little too opaque, lacking the lively shine of life everyone else seemed to have.
Another thing was that Grunkle Ford wasn't entirely alone. There was... someone else. The twins couldn't exactly pinpoint where, but they could feel its stare, whatever or whoever it was. They could almost feel its stare, a non-existent eye trailing a weird prickling sensation across their skin. The twins recalled the words of one of the townsfolk, a tall bestacled man with haunted blind eyes; although unseeing they could have sworn his gaze never seemed to leave them, as all he said was:
"Don't catch IT staring at you"
The twins had an odd feeling that IT was looking at them right now.
They didn't even notice when the pale bony hand of Grunkle Ford suddenly reached into their personal space, barely registering his words at all, much less the extra fingers that adorned each of his rough, worn palms.
Tumblr media
They didn't take the hand.
Tumblr media
If the twins had thought the outside of the shack looked decrepit, the inside seemed somehow even worse.
Every inch of exposed wall, ceiling or floor were utterly covered by sprawling symbols, summoning circles, and indecipherable words that seemed to be in an entirely different language than any the twins knew. They overlapped and tangled into one another into big, messy, red splotches of clustered nothings.
There were notes, diagrams on ripped pieces of aged looking paper scattered everywhere, with hardly any room for post-it notes squeezed wherever there was room. Lit and unlit candles were placed absolutely everywhere; either hidden in the dark corners or openly stood in the middle of the floor; sometimes in a circle, sometimes not. The melted fallen wax had coagulated into a hard white mess onto the floor; the smell of cheap vanilla scented candles intermingling with the smell of halloween fake blood (and Dipper was convince there had to be some real blood there, too) to create a sour concoction that stung their noses unpleasantly.
The shack was sparsely furnished with rarely any furniture at all. Not even a couch, the tables and chairs simply pushed to the walls to make more space for the endlessly swirling symbols and pentagrams. The twins were hesitant of stepping on any of the summoning circles, carefully sidestepping the candles and walking over the line of the pentagrams.
The attic, where they would be residing, was not much better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe they did end up in a mad scientist's house, after all.

Have the Archivist ever,, tried to study the circumstances around how a Collector forms or are they uninterested in there own nature? (Do Collectors form at random, did the "birthrate" change after the extinction event, can a Collector be purposefully spawned,, can they only appear around others of their kind or could the fabric just pop up in the middle of space?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They do know the circumstances of their own creation, on most part. Collectors come into existence when the magic released by a kilonova gains consciousness
Magic is unstable without something to contain it and give it directions. When a larger amount of pure magic is left unused for too long, it forms a kind of awareness to stabilise. This is how Starchildren come into being. A kilonova just produces the amount of magic that forms a collector
Starchildren form from different-sized "pockets" of magic. The smaller the pockets create smaller starchildren that tend to gravitate to other energy and stimuli, be around life, around noise. These little ones tend to stick together in groups and don’t really understand much. The bigger pockets of magic create larger, offften more solitary starchildren with a deeper awareness. They even hold bits of memory from before they became what they are.
Since magic works like energy it has always existed in some form, it was once part of a single, massive "pocket"- an entity called Everything. This being held all the energy there was. But it wanted more than stillness. It wanted things to exist.. So it exploded. In a way, it died, but because energy can’t be created or destroyed, it changed forms, scattered. But when enough magic gathers in one place, a piece of Everything echos
The archivists are somewhere in between. They’re closer to the smaller starchildren in nature, but they’ve got enough awareness to feel a pull, to keep things in motion, to help life continue. They don’t know why they feel this way. It’s just a quiet drive, probably the closest thing to instinct they have
The whole process is generally random, but it’s not hard to spot when it might happen, like when neutron stars are heading toward collision. The starchildren don’t try to force it. They work on a timescale where rushing makes no sense. Adding kinetic energy could throw off the outcome. So they wait. And in the face of infinity, what’s an eon?

My little headcanon theory thing that makes sense in my head.
Basically, the archive house is a frame and when you go into it, it's larger on the inside. So it's the same archive but can have multiple frames to access it.

On the topic of plants.
Tumblr media
Banner art by @cupcakeshakesnake
FULL FIC SYNOPSIS:
Between picking up the pieces in the wake of the Day Of Unity and its aftermath, reconnecting with Raine, helping King come to terms with his newfound identity and being there for Luz as she navigates a life split between the Boiling Isles and Connecticut, Eda Clawthorne has a lot on her plate.
Taking on another, seemingly-impossible project at this point, especially one that seems particularly ill-advised, is probably not the wisest decision. But then, Eda has never been one to take the easy path in life.
And she made a promise.
AKA - The one where Eda takes it upon herself to give The Collector a second chance, and faces the challenges that go along with it.
Canon-divergent after King's Tide.

Their mask is based off the sages in twilight princess, everything else about their designs is just a mesh of styles I admire.
Anyway, sorry for being missing, fear of loss is real kicking my ass.
