The Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Lebanon (FCCIAL) and the Industrial Research Institute (IRI), and their partners, HORECA, the Lebanese Franchise Association (LFA), and other stakeholders, are planning a series of events under the title, National Campaign for Food Safety.
The issue of Food Safety touches all Lebanese, as well as all visitors to Lebanon. Therefore, it is hoped that the National Campaign (in its various components) will make a significant contribution towards preventing the adverse effects on human health from food-borne illnesses, and in enhancing Lebanon’s reputation as a warm, generous and hospitable tourist destination. Thefirst in this series of events is the International Food Safety Seminar, which is described in more detail below.
OBJECTIVES OF THE SEMINAR

The purpose of the seminar is to disseminate relevant information, through the intervention of local and international experts, connected to new trends in food-related hygienic best practices, as well new local and international regulatory requirements.
  SCOPE OF THE SEMINAR
FCCIAL, IRI and their partners hope that the seminar can shed light and impart useful knowledge on topics that are central to health and growing exports. Seminar participants will be empowered with a core set of skills revolving around: Certification of Food Restaurants; International Food Safety Trends; Compliance with GMP/GHP; Identifying Microbiological Criteria in Food Products; HACCP Implementation (ISO 22000 Standard); Food Labeling in theFood Safety Process; Food Packaging: Material in Contact with Food Products; Food Inspection in Lebanon; Food Safety: a Tool to Access International Markets; and, Food Safety and Franchising.

Fancy a Rose Martini?  All across the world – from our Beirut, London, New York, Berlin, West Hollywood, Dubai, and Miami – we take drinks seriously, whether we’re creating them, making them or consuming them. Because whether it’s the first coffee of the day, the best cocktail of the party or the last whisky of the night, we know how important it is to get it right.
Our magazines cover everything from how to mix the best of our cocktails at home, to what our bartenders get up to after hours, to trips to Mexico to taste the finest tequila.
All across the world, our articles are only as good as the people who live them. So if you think you could offer us something, or you just want to know more about what we do, or just wan to see this lovely martini be made, get in touch. March 20th is just around the corner. We'll see you at the show.
Cheers!

The Importance of Tradeshows
With our press conference announcing that the Horeca Show will be back this year, we thought it might be importnat to remind people about the importance of trade shows, particularly to their segment of the business. While many agents working at home may feel that they don’t have the time or simply don’t see the benefits of attending such shows, there is plenty of support to the contrary. According to surveys from leading business publications and organizations, participation in trade shows and other in-person events is critical for producing profits, maintaining clients and developing new business. Forbes, for instance, surveyed 750 business executives and found they “overwhelmingly agree that face-to-face meetings are not just preferable but necessary for building deeper, more profitable bonds with clients and business partners and maintaining productive relationships with co-workers.” An overwhelming 84 percent prefer in-person meetings to technology-enabled meetings, noting they are better for persuasion, leadership, engagement, accountability and decision-making. The magazine concluded that technology cannot substitute for in-person meetings when it comes to closing important business deals. An article in the Wall Street Journal notes that especially during tough economic times, “participating in trade shows is one of the smartest things a business owner can do.”  According to the newspaper, trade shows provide critical exposure to potential buyers and are essential for learning about unfamiliar markets, building personal relationships and getting an up-close look at the competition. And in “The Oxford Economics Study: The Return on Investment Business Travel,” 700 corporate executives and 500 business travelers surveyed estimate that 28 percent of current business would be lost without in-person meetings. Over half also stated that 5 to 20 percent of their company’s new customers were the result of trade show participation. And for agents working at home, it’s important to get out there and meet suppliers that you otherwise might not see. Without a brick-and-mortar office, you have to be more proactive in maintaining your connections to the industry. Of course, you have to be particular about which shows to attend and how best to capitalize on them. Still, in an a country like Lebanon and at a show like Horeca, the show can always boil down to it's most basic element: getting in touch with the brands and companies you love.

The HORECA trade show is where the industry's giants get the inside scoop on products (and deals) with their suppliers and get to talk one-on-one with the people behind each company and try out free samples.  In other words, it's the adult Halloween for food and beverage freaks :)
The best part is, HORECA wants to generate new ways with how people interact with the industry and each other. So, as Horeca draws near, we want to hear what the people think of the industry in Lebanon. What food brands do you love? What bars? What restaurants? What wine?
Connect with us! Get a chance to network on our Website, Facebook Page and Twitter as well!
We want to hear the public's thoughts, and there are prizes in it as well. We'll keep you posted on that, but after last year's successful show, we've decided we want more of the public there: tweeting, facebooking, and connecting with us!
Beirut is the Capital of Taste, let's hear what the public has to say about it!
