OCTOBER 1st
Movie #1:
DEMONS (1985)
Writer(s): Dardano Sacchetti, Dario Argento, Lamberto Bava
Dir: Lamberto Bava
DOP: Gianlorenzo Battagila
There’s too many reasons to name here as to why I chose Demons as my the first film to watch for my october list. Could it be the perfectly simplistic, yet rocket-fast pacing of the story? The honestly BANGIN’ soundtrack? The GORE? The PIMP? The fact that the movie is literally about the movie starting an apocalypse???? The answer, is YES.
I’m sure you’ll come to find out about me is I’m 100000% a BIG fan of schlock. Horror without schlock it just isn’t fun, and with that in mind this movie is fucking fun. Wether it’s a band of rebels snorting cocaine from a coca cola can or a prostitutes demon tongue stretching out of her face the movie just doesn’t let go until it’s final seconds. We have neon barf to rock and roll, razor blades on nipples, gnarly metal faces and the best ADR in the biz(and by that I mean the worst ADR in the biz and It’s 100% used to the movies advantage, giving the demons and setting an overall gutteral, wet, and honestly horrifyingly nasty feel). Honestly, this movie is everything a growing boy needs.
Demons was the perfect start to this month inspiration wise but I can’t help the nervousness for the drawings ahead! Doodling during the movie came surprisingly fluid with a movie paced as quickly as this,it was no problem to find constant inspiration. However, the whole reason of this October is to help myself battle out of the art and personal low I’ve been in and while I’m definitely still shaking off the rust it really felt good it came so naturally. However, I just can’t shake the overwhelming dread that comes for me when I show people art I’m not sure about. Hopefully though I’ll just rub some DIRT on my insecurities and power through for the next week and It’ll all feel more natural. Regardless I’m excited to see what drawings come from the movies I have planned, I really want to play around with styles but we’ll just see!
So my final words for today are as follows Demons KICKS ALL KIND OF ASS, 10 out of 10 barfing heads!! As for my art I’m excited to keep drawing but it’s hard not to be a little sweaty posting work!
Coming up tomorrow we have DEMONS 2 so you boys stick around!!
With much rotting love,
JC

IT’S OCTOBER FIRST BOYS
Hey internet!
Are you as tired of October art lists as I am?
No?
Oh well great!
My name is Josh I’m a poor 20-something-year-old artist who spends more time watching horror movies with my significant other than I do breathing... So thinking for what we are going to do for the BEST MONTH OF THE YEAR the answer was very apparent. We watch a horror movie a day for the entire month (hopefully I get them out mildly on time, don’t judge me) and I’ll post our feelings on the movie as well as some doodles I’ll create while watching them!
So here we are, typing a post to no one and about to start with the first movie of our list, Dario Argento produced, Lamberto Bava’s horror masterpiece_** DEMONS (1986).  **_So be sure to stick around today for some Halloween love in the form of poorly written reviews and some pretty poor doodling!
With much rotting love,
JC
