Hi. I've never vlogged or been a technology person but I think I want to audition for the channel. Any suggestions or tips for making youtube videos that don't suck or how you learned to do the cute stuff and editing you guys do? I know I could just google but was just curious for any suggestions you may have. <3 thanks!

Note: Not sure how to queue an ask, so if anyone else wants to respond to this, please feel free to make an additional post!

Hello! I'd say the best tip is to have good lighting and sound quality. A lot of people might have excellent ideas, but it's worthless if we can't properly see/hear you.

Also, don't feel bad if it takes a few tries before you have the footage you want- when I first started vlogging, I used to trip over my words constantly (err, you still do, Southie) and have some long, awkward pauses while trying to think of things to say, so I'd have a bunch of re-shoots before the "final" vlog footage. Ah- right- it could also help to have a script or at least a loose idea of what you'd like to say.

I use iMovie for editing, but it's only for Apple computers. If any of the team edits with PCs, they can suggest PC editing programs, since I'm not familiar with those. I'm sure there are plenty of free programs you can download, though. :)
