so having convo with my dad this fine morning. he asks me, "what's the opposite of shipping? like if two people are together and you don't want them to be."
he then came up with the term "dumping" after I told him I had no clue and didn't know if such a term even existed.
thought I should attempt to inform the masses, or ask if there was already a word for it....

Are you 🫵 pissed off about the Lilo and Stitch monstrosity remake? Do you want to know how you can actually make a difference in supporting the people and ecosystems of Hawaii?
Tourism is a big issue in Hawaii (which the remake got rid of the original's commentary on because it makes foreigners look bad). I'm not gonna promote it, BUT I know that realistically, thousands of people arrive here every single day by the airplane-ful. And the majority of them aren't educated on the socio-cultural and economic impacts of tourism. SO, I'm making this post in an effort to educate visitors. If you or someone you know is visiting or moving to Hawaii (whether by circumstances in or out of your control), here are some suggestions on how you can give back!
You can donate to the Hawaii Community Foundation, which has been instrumental in giving aid to the displaced community of Lahaina after the Maui wildfires in 2023. They also provide scholarships to students of under-represented communities.
If you're interested in visiting Kualoa Ranch, you can do their Mālama Experience where you get your hands dirty giving back to the ‘āina (land)!
There are other organizations you can join to volunteer with, too, like Kupu and Mālama Maunalua. Check them out; maybe you can help with a beach cleanup or plant native trees! These are both non-profit organizations that accept monetary donations.
Visit the Bishop Museum to learn about Hawaiian history and culture! They also have events focused on sustainability and conservation.
If you're visiting Hilo on the Big Island, go visit the Laulima Nature Center! They're a non-profit aimed at protecting Hawaii's native species, and they even have an online store that ships to the US mainland and internationally! (After I post this, I'm gonna head on over and get myself a manu o Kū pin ♡)
A few other tips I have:
DO: Respect the locals' homes. Several beaches and hiking trails have access points in residential areas. Please be mindful to keep your voices down when passing by, and park ONLY in designated parking areas.
DO: Wear reef-safe sunscreen! Sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate are banned in Hawaii because they are known to damage coral reefs.
DON'T: Approach wildlife, particularly honu (sea turtles) and 'īlio holo i ka uaua (Hawaiian monk seals). Stay at least 10 feet (3 meters) away from turtles and at least 50 feet (15 meters) away from monk seals. If you see someone harassing animals, report them to the statewide NOAA Marine Wildlife Hotline: (888) 256-9840. You can also contact the Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources.
DON'T: Collect sand, rocks, or other natural items to bring home with you. This is to protect the ecosystems and also out of respect for Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians), who have cultural beliefs regarding lava rocks in particular. Taking lava rocks is extremely disrespectful.
DON'T: Litter! Please throw away your waste in proper trash cans. If you see a bin that says "ʻōpala," that's a trash can!
Many Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians) are moving to the US mainland because the cost of living in Hawaii has been driven up so high (because of people moving here), they can't afford to live in their ancestral home. So, if you are going to visit or move to Hawaii, please:
- Make the effort to support local businesses, especially those owned by Native Hawaiians!
- Educate yourself and your loved ones about actual Hawaiian culture!
- Try Hawaiian food, like poi!
- Learn some Hawaiian words and don't be afraid to ask how to pronounce words correctly!
- Donate to a food bank!
- Watch films and read books written by Native Hawaiians!
My hope is that whoever sees this post will use it to educate themselves, their friends, and their families who are considering visiting.
My background is in sustainability and the environment, so that's what I know to suggest off the top of my head. If any Kānaka Maoli read this post and have suggestions to add, please do!

Id like to talk about the dunmeshi anime;
Ive been watching anime for over half my lifetime, which admittedly isn't very long, but id like to think Ive watched enough to know what Im talking about.
Ive been a strict sub-only watcher for new animes since around 2018-2019. Because the dubs were just 𝙗𝙖𝙙. nearly unwatchable for me. I couldn't handle any of the popular animes. MHA, Demon Slayer, AoT, etc.
And the reason is not that the voice actors are bad, they are incredible, it's that these American/ English men just do not sound like teenagers. And I feel that this is only a more recent development? I don't have this problem with any anime from before the early 2010s. Maybe a few here and there but not nearly as many as nowadays.
Thats why I was so impressed with dunmeshi. Not only do you have new, fresher voices, they sound NATURAL. Damien Haas, who I've watched on Smosh for years, fucking KILLED IT. Not to mention Emily Rudd as Marcille, i was so surprised when I found out it was her voice I was hearing!
And all because it's a story about ADULTS. not a ragtag group of 14-16 year old kids like so many shows are now.
This is the first anime I've watched in awhile. I usually just rewatch my favorites... I've been burnt out on watching new stuff for years. But I had heard so many good things about dunmeshi, plus I wanted to see Damien's acting chops outside of Smosh. I'm so glad I picked it up. It really gave me a glimpse of possibility for the next wave of voices. It's so nice to be able to put a show on in the background without having to read lmfaooo.
Beyond that, however, I can't think of another anime that is about adults, but full of so much whimsy. Part of the problem for me is that I cant find any fun anime that isn't centered around romance or slice of life. Or it just isnt nearly as well written. I think Fairytail is a great example of an anime that's super fun... but not the best in terms of plot and writing. It's very good, just a little too long and juvenile after 150+ episodes.
I want to watch more of these shows, that don't take themselves too seriously, but craft a beautiful and heartwarming story that leaves you happier than when you started. (and maybe with more appreciation for food).
Anyway, in conclusion, I'm so happy I decided to watch dunmeshi. I hope that more of these type of projects will appear, or that I'll find more of them from the past. In the meantime, I'll be avoiding dubbed shounen like the plague. I'm so impressed, (and proud, I love seeing people succeed at their craft), with the dub cast of dunmeshi. Everyone on that team is incredible, and I hope they get many more roles and projects.
If you read all of this, thank you for listening to my rant! if you have any recommendations or thoughts, Id love to hear them :)

happy April Fools Day to fili, Kili, merry, and pippin... y'all would've loved ts.
some headcanons:
April Fools is a shire tradition where the fauntlings get together and play pranks and tricks on their older family members. It's the one day of the year they won't be scolded for misbehaving, (as long as the tricks are within reason ofc...)
Bilbo makes the mistake of telling fili and kili about it while talking about hobbit holidays and culture. The next morning he wakes up to a frog in his bedroll. It was not April 1st. Cue angry hobbit.
Merry and Pip have a reputation for planning and pulling off the most epic pranks in the shire. We are talking putting a full grown hog in every persons smial, without ever being caught. Well, they may not get caught but everyone knows who did it.
(but where did they get all those pigs from...???)
They are way past the appropriate age to be doing this, but everyone has accepted that they cannot and will not be stopped. They can only hope those two are a once in a generation kind of blight.
