okay yeah the riders would 100% be willing to fly pregnant.

but would their dragons be willing to let that happen? i can see, in some hypothetical fishpreg situation, meatlug refusing to do more than the most gentle flights. stormfly being willing to take astrid into the air but being noticeably gentle about it. hookfang outright refusing to fly with snotlout after the second trimester hits his womb.

a dragon refusing to let their rider on because they understand that humans are fragile and human not-eggs in the stomach more so sounds right imo. so even if the riders want to fly their dragons might still say no. possibly.

Oh, I 100% agree. The dragons can be rough with their Riders because they know they can take a hit. They can play rough, they go into battle together, I'm also thinking of that moment in which Stormfly picked Astrid up in Blindsided and threw her out of the way of danger. The dragons can be rough, but they also know when to be soft and gentle and they wouldn't want the Riders to be hurt in that condition.

snotlout being pregnant automatically grounds him + makes him prime hostage material for any hunters or other villains that make it onto dragon's edge. and they're in that whole war thing so you just know that something's gonna happen. plus like. if the baby is hiccup's. that's gonna catch viggo's interest probably. so hiccup is definitely gonna have so much to stress over!

Eh, I don't have the Dragon Riders ground themselves when they're pregnant. Hiccup is pregnant in my fic Price and he's still flying around on Toothless. In Unexpected To Say The Least, the only reason why Toothless and the other dragons tried to keep Hiccup's two feet on the ground is because that fic deals with a cryptic pregnancy, so the dragons didn't want Hiccup to get hurt and lose a baby he had no idea was even there. And in Death, Ruffnut goes along on a dangerous mission while days away from giving birth, because Hiccup was potentially in danger and she refused to stay behind.

Overall, at least when it comes to Hiccup, Ruffnut, and (especially!!!) Astrid, they wouldn't want to keep their keep feet on the ground and near their home. Hiccup would just be driven mad if he wasn't allowed to fly, Astrid refuses not to do her duties as a Dragon Rider as well and Ruffnut just simply would not want to do as she's told.

Unless she gets pampered. And I think that's where she would overlap with Snotlout.

Because, of course, the Dragon Riders would want to make sure he's safe and healthy and well-fed. Hookfang would probably fuss over him. But when it comes to grounding Snotlout, I think it'll just have to do with how much Snotlout likes to be pampered. He would insist on it and it would be a good excuse to get out of whatever chores he has to do around the Edge. (Although Hiccup would probably take him off tasks such as patrols anyways just to be safe.)

Also already did the hostage thing with Pregcup (sometimes + baby) a couple of times. So yeah, very fun whump to write about and can definitely recommend.

hiccup is generally so responsible that him managing to knock snotlout up without realizing really says a lot about how irresponsible they were being. so there's something to guilt hiccup with!! he probably feels awful for not thinking things through because he holds himself to such a high standard (even though. leaping before he looks is a very hiccup thing to do), and then he probably feels awful about feeling awful because of the notion that he should be supporting snotlout (they both need support here)! the drama would be immense!!

The thing about Hiccup is that's he's very responsible with everyone and everything that doesn't involve him. Which is how he can scold the Riders about taking certain chances, but can throw himself off a cliff just to prove that an invention works. (Also a logic I like to implement with Pregcup)

So yeah, to find out that he didn't just drop the ball on himself (which he honestly couldn't care less about, but that he did it with someone he loves? That would just kill him inside.

I keep thinking of Hiccup. Like, RttE-wise. Both late teenagers, way too young to have kids, they've been away on the Edge, in the middle of a war, Hiccup is the heir and Spitelout is pushing Snotlout to "take" the position that is "rightfully theirs." So I think there's plenty of drama there.

Snotlout and Thor Bonecrusher? There's a lot of whump/drama to be found there. Can be from the non-con variety, can be from the "let his love for TB lead him astray" kind of deal. Especially interesting afterwards, when TB is gone and there's just Fishlegs.

Won't be going into Snotlout/Viggo, because that's been discussed already and it just isn't in my personal interest.

pregnancy whump? say no more!

"I'm pregnant!" The admission snaps out into the air like a popped bubble in the muck.

Hiccup scoffs in surprise at the obvious (and ridiculous) lie. "Snotlout, I... don't think you can get—"

"Okay, go ask Gothi if you don't believe me!" Snotlout's arms are crossed, expression firm. Oh. Oh, he's not lying. That's. Hm.

Hiccup visibly realigns his understanding of the world, then starts again. "I... okay, you're pregnant. How are—no, wait, not important." He shakes off the question, and continues, "Why should that stop you from coming back to the Edge? You're not planning to keep it, are you—"

Snotlout looks away, face creased. His expression and body language spell out everything Hiccup needs to know, while also answering none of Hiccup's questions.

"Snotlout."

"Dad told me to keep it." Snotlout admits.

Hiccup sees red. He turns around, intent on marching straight to Spitelout's house to give the man a piece of his mind. It's bad enough that Spitelout's already unpleasant to work with and actively detrimental to Snotlout's ability to work with the rest of the riders, but now this? Telling Snotlout what to do with his body—

Snotlout's grip on Hiccup's arm stops him short. "Hiccup—" he starts.

Hiccup wrenches his arm away. "Snotlout." His tone is firm, just barely staying even as he looks down at his friend. "Do you want to keep it?" It's Snotlout's choice. Not Spitelout's.

Snotlout's grimace is answer enough. The words out of his mouth are even worse. "It doesn't matter what I want," He admits, "All of house Jorgenson wants me to." He says it like it's a matter of course, that his clan can just make these kinds of decisions about his body, and Hiccup has to swallow down a scream before he can speak.

"What about the dragon riders?" He asks. "We need you, Snotlout—we can't have one of our best grounded for several months." It's true; against the dragon hunters, they need everyone doing their part.

"You'll just have to go without me." Snotlout retorts. "I'm not budging on this. I can't let my clan down."

Hiccup and Snotlout stare each other down for a long moment. Finally, Hiccup breaks the stalemate, turning towards the chief's—his father's—house. "I'm telling dad." He says, only for Snotlout to grab him again.

"Don't you dare." Snotlout hisses. When Hiccup looks back at him, it's to see Snotlout's eyes wide with fear. "Hiccup—don't tell anyone." He lets go of Hiccup's arm. "Please."

Shit. Fuck. Odin's tits. "Snotlout, it's kind of pointless to avoid telling anyone when the whole village is going to know in a few months!" He doubts House Jorgenson would want Snotlout living out on Dragon's Edge while pregnant, and even if that were the case, the fact that Snotlout came all the way back to Berk to address the issue instead of going to Fishlegs speaks volumes about how few people know. Regardless of where Snotlout goes, everyone around him is going to figure it out once his stomach starts to swell.

Snotlout's eyes roll. "What, you think I'll be staying here?" He scoffs, bravado returning, "My parents always had a plan for when this kind of thing happened. Nobody needs to know it's.... you know." Even now, it's hard to say it directly, even to someone who knows about it. A lifetime of living with a family dancing around the fact will do that, Hiccup supposes.

Hiccup sighs. "Fine. But I'm still going to have words with Spitelout." He turns on his heel and goes. Snotlout doesn't grab at him, instead opting to follow behind him, Toothless and Hookfang following along. As he walks, Hiccup's mind works, gears spinning in search of a solution. He can't let this stand—maybe he could pull rank? Well, he could if it was just Spitelout that was the problem, but being the son of the chief won't be enough against an entire clan. If he could just go to his father for advice—but no, Snotlout asked him not to. Hiccup's not going to just violate his privacy like that.

Fuck. Fuck. Damn it all to Valhalla.

just realized that snotpreg and pregcup happening simultaneously or near-simultaneously has the potential to be sooo funny.

okay okay so some context: on ominous' blog many a baby daddy was discussed for snotpreg. one of those baby daddies that was discussed was viggo (bc smth smth sir ulgerthorpe has game).

anyway. the thought of viggo being all >:] because he got one of hiccup's riders pregnant which will surely infuriate hiccup

only to then find out that he could have gotten hiccup pregnant

like i'm sorry but the moment i thought about it i giggled because viggo would be devastated. he knocked up the wrong rider he can't believe he's done this. he tries to take hiccup's baby hostage but accidentally takes his own by accident. AND he can't even hold her right!

Viggo would be sooooooooooo mad. And him both taking the wrong baby hostage as well as not even being able to hold them right sounds in character for him. Viggo does not seem like the type of person who knows what to do with babies or children in general.
