Gathering Fics In Our Collection

Hello lovely fest participants! I am deeply sorry for the radio silence from the past few weeks, real life is a bitch. But without further ado, I hereby present the promised post about adding your work to the collection.

Here is the link to the collection

There are 2 ways to post to the collection. If your fic is not yet on ao3, you can go to this page, then click the button “Post to collection”. You then fill in the fields as normal and hit post. Once the work is approved, it will show up in the collection.

The other way to put your work in the collection is by editing your fic and putting “HP WIP fest 2019″ in the Post to Collections / Challenges box. It is easiest to type instead of copy paste, because ao3 will automatically fill in the challenges starting with HP WIP (this method is less prone to copy or spelling errors mucking things up).

Because I am so late with posting this (pro tip, don’t host a fest all on your own), I will accept fics added to the collection until the 5th of September. If you have any questions, please send me an email at hp.wip.fest@gmail.com (it is easier to reply to email than to tumblr messages).

‘Just bloody give it to me Malfoy!’ She knew her choice of words were a mistake as soon as they left her mouth. She put her hand out to indicate the potion he so cruelly held above her head. But he wasn’t going to let the opportunity by.

‘Ooooooh,’ he hooted like an owl, ‘If I had of known you had it this hot for me I would have asked years ago.' He leaned down towards her face and said quietly into her ear, ‘Would have saved a lot of effort having to woo a girl when a pretty little Mudblood’s ready to spread her…’ he didn’t get any farther. The smirk was wiped off his face as she pushed him up against the opposite shelf.

‘Say it again,’ she dared. He leaned into her face, snarling, ‘…mudblood.’

She didn’t know who moved first but suddenly his arms were around her waist, tongue swiping across her lips demanding access, she opened her mouth and gave in to him, pressing her body against his. He pushed her away, breaking off the kiss.

‘Get off me Mudblood filth!’ he panted, staring at her. ‘As if I would ever lower myself to you’ fingers gripping tightly to the shelf behind him.

She strode confidently towards the door without a word.

‘Tell that to your cock Malfoy.’

In between family dinners at the Potters’ place, teaching at Hogwarts, watching Harry give some special DADA lessons and watching how well Albus and Scorpius get along, his old crush for Harry somehow resurfaces. To complicate things, Ginny also turns out to be nice and supportive and strong—her mental strength reminds him of Astoria in many ways, despite their obvious physical differences. Draco ends up having not just one crush but two and no idea how to act.

However, there are fixed points in time, events so important that they cannot be altered. Hermione Granger’s tragic life as an Unspeakable is one of those points, and nothing Draco can do will change the path they’re forced to follow.

More Details HP WIP Fest

On July 15th, I will post a masterpost with everyone who is participating, including the name and summary of your WIP. This means that I need a title and summary on July 14th at the latest, otherwise I cannot include you in the master post on Tumblr. If you have not included that yet in your sign up form, please email them to me.

If you want a link to your WIP included, I will also need that on July 14th at the latest. If you do not have your WIP posted to ao3 yet, don’t stress, it’s not a requirement to share a link on the first masterpost.

I will make another master post on August 1st if anyone applies after July 15th. After that, sign ups are closed. If you want to participate with more than one WIP, you need to let me know before sign ups close.

September 1st is the deadline for finishing your WIP. After you finish, you can add your work to the ao3 collection. I will post a step by step guide on how to do that in the final week of the fest. It should be a part of this collection by September 1st at the latest, so I can check which works are finished. If you finish your fic or update a couple chapters before September 1st, that’s totally fine. All that matters is that the WIP is finished by September 1st.

If it turns out you can’t make the fest deadline, don’t worry. There is no shame whatsoever in dropping out. Please send me an email if you want to drop out though, so I can anticipate on it. I know a little less than 2 months is not that much time to finish longer WIP’s, but organising a fest on your own is a lot of work so the deadline had to fit into my summer holidays. 

The posting schedule on Tumblr depends on how many works end up being finished, and how long those works are. I will try to make a posting schedule that works for everyone, by spreading out different lengths and pairings over the entire posting period (so no three 40k works in one day, for example). I will post a summary of that week’s fics each Sunday, and a masterpost at the very end of posting. 

Each finished work will get its own post on Tumblr so people can share and hype your work. In order to make these posts, I will need a header for your fic (a header includes things like an ao3 link, author notes, word count, summary, content warnings etc). I will send a header template to all participants at the beginning of August, after closing sign ups. 

I wish you all the best of luck with finishing your WIP’s! And if you still have questions, feel free to ask them by email or on Tumblr.

Hi Guys

I’m super happy to see so many people join this fest! We have a whooping 35 participants so far.

I’m a bit behind with sending confirmation emails though, because I did not expect to get so much traffic and I am still in my exam week. So no stress if you haven’t heard anything yet!

Announcing The HP WIP Fest

Feeling slightly guilty about that WIP gathering dust in your Google Docs? Done with the ‘unfinished work’ tag on ao3? Just wanna have the fun of a fest without adding a whole new project to your To-Do list?

Then join the HP WIP Fest!

We run from July 15th until September 1st this summer. You can sign up through the google form linked below. There will be a master post with participants on July the 15th, so we can built exitement for our works. Sign ups end on August 1st.

Posting starts on September 1st, schedule depends on the number of participants and length of the fics. This Fest is not anonymous. It’s open for both fic and art, and there is no minimum word count.

It does not matter if you have your WIP already published, or if it’s just stitting on your computer. We hope having a deadline and fest community and exitement will help get the gems of WIP’s out there finished. This fest is open to all pairings within the Harry Potter fandom.
