Imagine Russia finally having the courage (or stupidity) to confess to Soviet and being completely rejected. Aside from giving Soviet an existential crisis it would also wreck Russia. He'd have a huge fit- he feels betrayed, the first time he tried opening up about his feelings in a genuine way and he got rejected.

GODDD dude russia would have such a big tantrum about its actually insane... Because I'm not going to lie I don't think soviet would be able of letting him down gently, he wouldn't yell at russia (I think he would look more exasperated and desperate) but he would say something like "are you insane I'm your father". and you knowwww russia would try to pull the "we're not biologically related :(" trick like that's the only problem here. I do think soviet would try to explain that it's wrong, and that he could never do that, that russia is just confusing things, but he's not very good at explaining when it comes to such emotionally loaded concepts (see the issue with latvia and lithuania)

Imagine how Soviet would feel about Russia having those kinds of feelings for him, especially with what his own father was like...

He would be positively horrified and would put the whole blame on his own shoulders for Russia feeling that way, wondering if he had caused it somehow. And it would definitely cause a(n even) big(ger) rift because Russia looks like Russian Empire. It would amplify Soviet’s fears of hurting someone but would also bring his own childhood victimization to the forefront, kind of putting them at a dichotomy of the abuser and victim at the same time. I don’t think he would necessarily ever tell Russia why he feels this way, but Russia would make an educated guess that his father isn’t interested in incest (but well, I don’t think Russia would necessarily try to stop those feelings of his either, more that he would get the hint that Soviet is not interested)

oh dude absolutely it could. all that it takes is one misunderstanding about the difference between platonic and romantic love and its all downhill from there. I'm a big fan of obsessions turning into something sexual, so ngl I am a big fan of one-sided sovrus

It’s actually a different continuity! My fics aren’t all related unless it’s said in the fic, and my series are usually separate entities all together, so Soviet from the Sovame fic and this one (which links with stories like Reverence and Zwang Eines Blochewisten) are different, even if they seem similar :3

May I ask what other relationships Weimar has that Reich is jealous of if any? (So aside from Austria and Soviet)

Hehehe, I’m really happy you picked up on it!!! :D

And well the main one aside from Austria and Soviet is with their dad German Empire. Because Reich was pretty much completely neglected from a young age (GE had that sort of aristocratic mindset where the only one who matters is the firstborn son, so he can neglect the other kid), he began to crave the kind of attention Weimar was given. Which was a whole lot of verbal and occasionally physical abuse. But Reich interpreted that as GE’s way of showing he cares. So that was something he wanted, and something that Reich began to think he would be able to handle waaaaay better than Weimar. The kid would always just kind of lurk around wherever GE was - he would deliberately try to get in trouble so that GE would pay the same attention to him that the man did to Weimar. He could handle being hit and yelled at, he told himself. But GE still ignored him completely, which only made his jealousy and hatred sorta spiral into… Ya know…

I was reading your fic and now I'm wondering... Are some of Reich's relationships influenced by jealousy of Weimar? I didn't think much when got close to Austria, but now seeing as he has a crush on Soviet and Weimar used to be close to Soviet... Seems like it could be a pattern. Idk if I explained myself well but it seems like something he would do haha

You’re actually right on the money!!! Reich did have a lifelong jealousy and hatred for Weimar for being the first born (and therefore getting all the attention and “love” of GE + getting to represent the country) and “squandering” that potential. So the deal is that he wanted everything Weimar had, especially because he thinks he can do it better. This is a topic I may put in a fic in the future, but yeah, Reich’s obsession with Soviet starts at the point where he learns of all the correspondence between him and Weimar. Reich does have a pattern hahaha

hehehehe not going to lie I have thought about it, but if I actually ever write it, it will be non-canon because they both have a perpetual yearning kind of shit going on because they’re both really traumatized and not dealing with it that well kind of people LMFAO

also yeah, I find them super cute, I love them both and the kissing would go crazy. imagine kissing someone who basically has a serrated knife for teeth
