feeling such genuine gratitude that I get to be a part of the post-ch. 3 & 4 brain rot with everybody.
my life is kinda ass rn and its taking a toll on me, but even when things are going well I tend to get pretty severe seasonal depression every summer. the UTDR community has been a lifeline for me these past few weeks and im really thankful that I get to be here

as much as ppl like the "character is actually way older than they look" trope it will never ever beat the reverse. sure being mistaken for a teenager is funny sometimes I guess but every time a character who looks like a shriveled grandparent is revealed to be 35 an angel grows its wings. its SO funny. why do you look like that babygirl what did they do to you

I don't know how to explain this very well but 100% of the time I feel like I'm living in an offshoot of the “true” timeline I was /supposed/ to be living in

getting back into art is crazy bc what do you mean everyone in the fanbase has an art degree now.
last time I was publicly drawing/posting online I was a teenager and so were most of my friends but in the 7 or 8 years since then it feels like everyone in the wider community went to art school 😵💫 im so jealouussssss
#this is my own fault of course DO NOT feel bad for me#I am absurdly privileged I had a full ride to major in whatever I wanted for free#I /almost almost almost/ did graphic design#but (for a lot of reasons) I switched up completely and did something else instead#now its been 3 years since I finished undergrad and I have. extremely mixed feelings#do I regret what I chose? yes but also no but also yes#but I made the best decision I could for the situation I was in at the time#that's how I feel about most of the last 25 years#hungrybuzz

Alphys' theme is genuinely one of the best fucking tracks on the OST. It's SO effective.
The way it starts out super awkward and stilted and tricks the player into thinking she's just a goofy joke character before transitioning into the most beautiful fucking song on the soundtrack... masterful bait-and-switch.
Plus it's mixed meter, all in 3/4 and 5/4. Idk shit about music theory but even I can tell the off-kilter, waltzy sound is meant to evoke her awkwardness and general instability.
The funky meter is also kind of driving though; the song feels like it's stumbling over itself to keep moving forward and I think Alphys' character arc is similar. She can't sit still and soak in her mistakes forever, she has to keep pushing forward for her own sanity and also to atone for what she's done.
It's absurdly good and so underappreciated. it makes me INSANE
