Six Sentence Monday
Me? Sharing a WIP? It's... well, it's less likely than you think, but thank you @valeffelees for being just as insane about lambden as I am and enabling the chaos :D And thank you @forabeatofadrum @you-remind-me-of-the-babe and @hushed-chorus for the tags yesterday!
Speaking of lambden, I started a new fic where the two of them live happily never after in the Katherine, having passionate hate sex every night after Braden gets off on watching Lamb drink a tourist's blood. Slightly spicy snippet under the cut.
“What would the Next Blood say?” Lamb whispered into Braden’s ear in that alleyway. “If they knew their all-great founder got off on blood drinking?”
Braden came for the first time tonight in that alleyway.
He wants the second time to be in Lamb’s bed.
Not many tags because it's Monday, but tagging @bazzybelle and @otherpeoplesheartachept-2 for the lambden <22

Lamb/Braden is The ship dynamic of all time. They are lovers to enemies to rivals with benefits to lovers. They have homoerotic screaming matches over whether their species is even real. It is fucking amazing.

I think the reason a lot of leftists struggle with disability justice is that they haven't moved past the concept that discrimination isn't bad because it's objectively "wrong." yes, sexists are objectively wrong when they try to claim women are dumber than men. yes, antisemites are objectively wrong that jewish people are inherently greedy and run the state. yes, racists are wrong when they try to claim that white people are the superior race. and so on.
but then with disabled people, there are a lot of objective truths to the discrimination we face. people with IDs/LDs do fall behind and struggle with certain concepts. physically disabled people are often weaker and less capable of performing demanding tasks than able bodied people. many of us with mental illnesses are more reckless and less responsible. a lot of us are dependent on others and do not contribute much "worth".
and guess what? disabled people still deserve a place in the world. disabled people still deserve the supports they need. because they are people, and that should be enough to support them and believe they deserve a place at the table.
if your only rebuttal against discrimination is its objective inaccuracies, you are meeting bigots where they are at. you are validating the very concept that if and when people are truly incapable of being equal to the majority, that means they are worth less. this causes some leftists to then try to deny the objective realities of disabled people and/or become ableist themselves.
your rallying behind marginalized groups should start and end with the fact that people are completely worthy of life and equity, because they are fellow human beings and that should, frankly, be enough.

Baz started Watford determined to hide his vampirism at almost any cost. But what if the Mage had confronted him about his secret? What if, instead of threatening to expose him, the Mage offered to help him? And what would be the consequences of accepting his enemy’s help?

I was feeling like weird and grumpy about a lot of shit but like talked some of it through with my mom today and I feel better? Imagine that? Processing things helps? Asking for help? Amazing. It’s freed up much needed space in my brain. I need confidence and competence for the Simon POVs. (Confidence and competence that has been severely lacking in my own life.)
As for my six sentences, there’s lowkey spoilers but fuck it we ball.
Simon POV, present:
I recognize this behavior too; I’m catching strays. Niamh at least has the decency to target me rather than Agatha in her insults. (Baz never afforded me such a luxury.)
But that means…
If my calculations are correct…
I swipe open my phone and click the Instagram app.
Oh, April 24th wipsday! You think you just fell out of a coconut tree? You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you.

It’s Sunday! How’d that happen again so soon?
Here’s a little more from my Time Travel WIP, Back and Back and Back. Keeping the name, since I got a lot of positive feedback on it. As a reminder, this story features an older Simon who travels back in time and visits with a young Baz throughout his childhood. At some point, I might start worrying about sharing all the good bits on Tumblr before I’ve actually started posting this thing. Then again, I always love seeing tons of snippets in advance as a reader. Gets me hyped for when the thing finally gets published. So here you go!
“So,” he says, folding his legs in and scooting around to sit cross legged to face me. “Catch me up. What’s been going on lately?”
“Well, I’ve been taking tennis lessons at the club this summer. And Father gave me a violin for my eleventh birthday,” I remind him. “So I’ve been taking lessons for that, too. I’ve only been playing for six months but I quite like it.”
“Wait,” he puts his hands up. “You’re eleven now?”
I nod.
“So you’re starting at Watford soon?”
“I leave tomorrow,” I say quietly, pulling my knees up and hugging them to my chest.
It’s how I knew he’d come. He always comes when something important is happening. I prepared the [redacted] three days ago, and have been out here everyday, waiting.
He starts to smile, though it falters a bit. He forces it back in place, though it looks strained.
“That’s great, Baz.”
I feel the corners of my mouth tweak up. I’ve gotten quite used to his nickname for me over the years. I think I might even start using it with other people, when I get to school.
I’m loving writing these past bits. I’ve yet to find the rhythm of the parts in the present, though. Setting things up and having to wait for the conflict or character connections is always the least fun part of writing though. At least for me. Hopefully, I’ll hit my stride soon. Wish me luck!
Tags, tag backs, etc. I’m still working my way through posts from this last week, but I continue to love seeing all you guys are sharing! @whatevertheweather @cutestkilla @artsyunderstudy @emeryhall @whogaveyoupermission @thewholelemon @facewithoutheart @shrekgogurt @bookish-bogwitch @ivelovedhimthroughworse @aristocratic-otter @hushed-chorus @roomwithanopenfire @monbons @noblecorgi @forabeatofadrum @that-disabled-princess @youarenevertooold @prettygoododds @ileadacharmedlife @chen-chen-chen-again-chen @ic3-que3n @wellbelesbian @run-for-chamo-miles @rimeswithpurple @best--dress @mooncello @blackberrysummerblog @iamamythologicalcreature @valeffelees @orange-peony @angelsfalling16 @raenestee and anyone else who’d like to share!

Some Six Sentence Sunday
Thanks for the tag @hushed-chorus! I can’t wait to dive into the new chapter. I am not mad at all at a potential 300k new words when they are so gooooood.
If you've been keeping up with The Eternal Life of Baz Pitch, I hope you enjoyed your first peek at Simon! He'll feature heavily in every chapter moving forward.
If you've been holding out on reading, now might be a good time to start. I can't promise it won't hurt--sad Baz will still be sad Baz--but Simon will be a welcome balm each chapter. (I've also been informed by @bookish-bogwitch that my fic slaps so hard it can be read in any order...so feel free to jump in wherever you want 😆.)
For those who've kept up to speed, you deserve a little more comfort for putting up with angst-fest, so have a snippet from chapter 6 under the cut, featuring some Penny and Shep!
“So, I think I had a date with a stalker today,” he offers by way of answer.  “Oooooh, sounds fun.” Shepherd plops himself down next to Simon. “Do tell!” “Shep, that is the wrong response to this situation.” Penny frowns at them both.  “He’s shown up like three times in the last two days, and he keeps ordering the same gross drink.” Simon hassles his curls. “He flirts with me the whole time, but it's awkwardly aggressive.” “That’s actually really concerning.” Penny’s eyes go wide. “What’s the drink?” Shepherd presses. Simon grimaces. “Pumpkin mocha breve.”  “How seasonally inappropriate!” Shepherd fakes outrage, hand over his heart like he’s been attacked by the beverage. “Don’t get me started,” Simon mutters. “Is he at least cute?” Shepherd punches Simon in the arm lightly. “I repeat, your reactions are truly concerning, Shep,” Penny chimes in. Both boys ignore her.
Hellos and high-fives! @thewholelemon, @roomwithanopenfire, @raenestee, @cutestkilla

Six Sentence Sunday
Tumblr media
Thanks for the tags @monbons and @hushed-chorus, I love seeing what you're working on and I'm so excited to read the new chapter of Those Glowing, Magickal Years later today!!
I've actually done a little bit of writing today, added a scene to the eighth chapter of Proof of Life and did a teeny tiny bit of editing on that chapter (I'm rapidly catching up to myself I fear, a pause in posting is nigh 😭).
But good news! I only have one week left of school! It's finals week but I don't have too many tests and papers to work on and no classes to go to, so hopefully I can mix in a little writing into my day. And then after this week, I'm done with my first year of college—which still feels kind of insane to me.
I'm posting the newest chapter of Proof of Life (my Natasha Lives AU) tomorrow and this one is going to be good! You all will like it, I know. It was super hard to pick a snippet because less than halfway through the chapter [redacted] shows up and you guys aren't allowed to know about that yet, so enjoy some Penny and Simon dialogue.
Snippet and tags under the cut.
Penny considers this. “You really think Baz is hurt, don’t you? That it’s something serious.”
“Well, it’s either that or he’s plotting and, you know, innocent until proven guilty.”
Penny snorts at that.
“What?”
“Nothing,” Penny shakes her head. “Just, that’s pretty funny coming from the boy who’s convinced Baz is a vampire when there’s no proof.”
“There’s plenty of proof,” I splutter.
Penny holds up a hand. “Please, spare the monologue, I’ve heard all of this before”
“You’re the one who brought it up.” I cross my arms, feeling a bit like a petulant child.

There’s no such thing as work-life balance for neurodivergent & chronically ill people.
This is because everything in my life requires work:
maintaining friendships
keeping up with my hygiene
managing bills
making money
remembering my basic needs
sleeping regularly
outputting creatively
All requires some aspect of work for me.
And when everything in your life requires work, your balance goes out the window.
If you're neurodivergent and overwhelmed — I see you.
If you're chronically ill and overwhelmed — I see you.
You're not dysfunctional.
You're not incapable.
You're doing your best.

Hi folks! I hope you've all had a grand week! I just ate a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes. It was pretty epic.
Chapter three of Those Glowing, Magickal Years went live today. Sorry for the wait, and hopefully the 8k word count makes up for the delay. That means the fic is 21k words so far, and we've only just come to the close of Year One. @erzbethluna keeps telling me this fic will end up at least 300k, and I fear she may be right.
In the spirit of Wednesday's rec post, please accept six sentences from TGMY that feature the word 'blood'.
Every bag of blood I sup on, every morsel I learn, I do so because he’s given it to me.  Today he’s a particularly unruly barrage of bangs and bravado, but at least he doesn’t smell like blood. “That bloody sword answered only to Pitches for generations!”  Hot blood splashed across my hands, face, clothes, and the carpet.  I want to lap up his insolent blood, let it thread all its heady warmth into me, let his heart coil around mine and bring it to life, just for a few precious, strong beats.  What the bloody hell is he up to?
Tags below the cut, as well as some thoughts on another WIP I may pick up

Those Glowing, Magickal Years still has a solid grip on me. However, another fic idea has started beating me around the head. A good old chonk of time ago, I mentioned I was working on a snowbaz fic inspired by Fallout New Vegas, provisionally titled Hope Springs Eternal. Well, I may have watched the Fallout show and that idea is shaking me by the lapels.
In addition, presently TGMY is from the POV of tween Baz and Simon, but I have the itch to write something that's slower in pace. Something that has a narrative voice that allows some decadence in the writing. Despite it's source of inspiration, Hope Springs Eternal imagines a post-apocalyptic world that has struggles, but also has magic, goodness and space for hope. (And vampire angst.)
Now, I don't want to actively work on THREE fics (yes, FAIAP has not been abandoned, just on a school-related hiatus). I'd go loopy.
That being said... Well, my initial draft of Blood, Salt, and Hummingbirds was written in an obscenely beautiful notebook. Writing by hand is a nice relief sometimes, especially if you're tired and sore. The writing feels low-pressure and indulgent, compared to the focus I put into writing on laptop.
So I may dive into that idea in that format. If it makes good progress, I'll get it typed up and share it.

Baz on the phone with Simon: Turn around.
Baz: No, the other way.
Baz: Again, the other way.
Baz: Okay, one more time.
Simon: OH MY GOD, WHERE ARE YOU?!
Baz: I’m not there yet, but the thought of you aimlessly turning around in circles amuses me.
