this is exactly why I'm so in love with 1989's vault tracks! And it goes hand in hand with what Blondie said in an interview about Style once. I really just love how she can write songs about her life and make them so accessible to us at the same time, like so many of us have dealt with these relationships and she's just so talented at her art!
You know I really love the vault songs, they show such a toxic yet passionate relationship and its so bloody intriguing and intense that I can't help but feel for their relationship because it gives hints of the possibility of what could've been a legendary couple. The what ifs make it so tempting and heart-wrenching. That line in Say Don't Go when she sang "I said I love you" gave me literal shivers. She was so in love with him. I don't know really gives off "the one that got away" vibes.

If one of the many extremely talented spuffy artists wanted to recreate this with spike and buffy in whatever way you see fit I would love you forever until the end of time because Spike is literally so black cat coded and I can totally see him playfully nomming on buffy like this and I need it desperately šŸ˜¹šŸ˜šŸ–¤šŸ–¤šŸ–¤šŸ–¤šŸ–¤

you know those stories where someone brings a fake date to a family dinner to annoy their parents?
Buffy's estranged dad (maybe in season 5 or 6) asks her to come to dinner with his new family so Buffy asks Spike to be her fake date and encourages him to piss them off as much as possible

Love the thoughts!
As for hearing other vampires, I'm pretty sure Lestat explained it as they can't hear each other since he turned him.
Spoilers for episode 2 if you havenā€™t watched it.
I found it so comical that he was from the inside of his coffin ā€œI donā€™t like sleeping angry.ā€ and then lifting up the lid to see if Louis was paying attention because he didnā€™t respond.
I could talk about how dismissive Lestat was being throughout Louisā€™ near decade with him at this point about Louisā€™ unhappiness with being a vampire, but like thatā€™s par for the course. Thatā€™s Lestat.
Might add more as it comes to me.
Not exactly episode 2 but Iā€™mma say it anyways Thereā€™s a part in one of the trailers where Lestat says ā€œShe has poisoned you against me.ā€ I assume the she is Claudia, but all I think is ā€œNo sweetie youā€™ve done that all by yourself.ā€ Especially now that the real Lestat is coming out. I mean there were points in the first episode that Lestat was seen to be toxic and manipulative and dismissive of Louisā€™ emotions and mental state, but this is multiplied by like a lot.
Also it was like Lestat had lost his romantic luster for me. Which made me not like this episode as much as I did the first. Like Iā€™m over here saying to Louis oh my god get the fuck away from him already.
I asked my sister whether Louis was talking about other vampire when he said he could stand out on his balcony and hear the thoughts of a brute from Madagascar. She said yes, but I was like why did Lestat say that vampires canā€™t read other vampires minds and her reply was because heā€™s an asshole liar and other vampires donā€™t like his ass.
There was a tone and body language and even the words itself that caused Louisā€™ reaction with the guy he was doing business with. Lestat didnā€™t get it in the moment he had to marinate in it.
I hope Louis washed up before getting into that coffin from pouring all that what look like milk on himself because Iā€™m sure heā€™d start to stink along with all that burnt flesh. Lestat didnā€™t have to get bare butt ass naked he just did it to be petty.
When Lestat says Iā€™m your family I was like but youā€™re horrible though.
I think Lestat heard Louisā€™ thoughts at the opera. Maybe about how Louis was having doubts about staying with Lestat because he was humiliated and looked over so much by Lestat so Lestat said what he had to however true it may be to get him to stay. Which is manipulativeļæ¼.
Lestat has no right to lecture Louis on his feeding habits because he himself was dropping bodies left and right when he first came to town. Sure they were probably people one would miss but still thatā€™s a lot of people for the authorities to consider it some sort of illness. Also figured out what the street light guy did to get himself killed he called Lestat the devil and weā€™ve seen how much he hates that.

As an autistic woman with ADHD, this scene made me have to pause because I started crying so hard from the sheer relatability of everything about this episode. Like Quinni, I get super upset when plans I've had set in stone for ages get changed. As a fully grown adult, I've learned how to cope with it... but I still usually have to step away from the situation for a while to process all of my big emotions and figure out why I'm upset and how to deal with it so it doesn't affect people who don't deserve it.
What I noticed big time about Sasha, both in this episode and in general, is that she doesn't give Quinni any time to process. She just announces that "they" will go to the book signing and then to the party like it's a done deal without even discussing if Quinni wants her to go. Quinni straight up tells her she needs to go ready and "she can go or stay", clearly trying to imply that she wants her to go. Instead, Sasha asks why Quinni didn't mention that she wanted to go early beforehand so she could have borrowed Missy's car and invites herself along again.
(What also really got to me about this scene is that Sasha is ignoring Quinni's needs--she's mentioned in previous episodes that she knows Quinni thrives on routine. Routine counts as plans you've made too!)
When they pass by the shop on the way, she hops off the bus despite Quinni's attempts at protesting. She completely ignores Quinni's discomfort and has the gall to get annoyed when Quinni doesn't want anything, despite the fact that Sasha dragged her off the bus for something Sasha wants. (And... doesn't even get, I don't think? It's never made clear, but I assume she wound up just talking until they caught the next bus.)
I am a huge fangirl and Quinni's excitement and knowledge of her needs was so relatable to me. It really bugged me when Sasha wouldn't accept that Quinni knew she wouldn't want to go to a party after such a big night with big emotions. Her behavior at the signing was appalling, down to Quinni having to have another fan take her picture with the author, and everything that followed just felt... justified, in a way.
My heart broke for Quinni and for me and any autistic or otherwise neurodivergent person who's ever felt that way before. Whose special interest was belittled and your high crushed because of it. Who's felt the sting of someone you trusted and loved and tried with everything you have to be with reveal that they think you're exhausting.
I hope that Sasha does some hard work on herself next season (manifesting!) and either proves herself worthy of Quinni, or they can be friends like she and Missy are. Because despite all the ableism, I did appreciate her coming to Quinni in the end and leaving as soon as she recognized the signs of her discomfort instead of trying to stay and make herself feel better by pleading her case.
Quinni "I thought you wanted to this with me."
Sasha "yeah I do this for you. I always feel like I'm trying to do these things for you. But what about me? Huh. Do you ever think about me?"
"Sometimes it's hard being with you when I just want to be a normal teenager." She could have went to Amerie party alone, instead she wanted to unapologetically high jack Quinni plans.
"Don't pull the fucking autism card on me right now. You know know what I meant. Sometimes it's just a lot for me. Okay?"
This conversation felt more like Sasha was trying to get an out of their relationship. Because I honestly can't remember anything that Sasha has done for Quinni, like even the whole "I don't want to be responsible for you." Or not going to Darren party. Sasha hasn't actively tried to do anything for Quinni, much less inconvenience herself for Quinni sake.
If there's a season two I need Quinni to find someone better

I'm so heartbroken for poor Harper after finishing the series just now, seriously! Not only did she experience trauma, she experienced two complex traumas in a single night, sandwiched between her best friend seeming to abandon her. (Sure, Amerie didn't mean to do that, and in her eyes it wasn't relevant enough to even remember; but Harper was so obviously not thinking clearly before or after everything unfolded.) Like, seriously--you wake up in a car and realize you're about to be assaulted. You just barely manage to get away safely and go to your one safe place... but she doesn't open the door. Actually, she is very audible from inside the house and quickly flips the light off. (Really, Amerie couldn't have been more obvious if she tried.) And then you go home to find your dad in such a state that he tries to attack you and you just barely manage to get away and wake up to find out you're going to be placed into a foster home.
And to be clear--her bad choices were really bad and not to be excused, but I find it really distressing that people are judging her so harshly when she's a victim herself. The entire show is about how imperfect and trash they all are at handling big feelings without making things worse, so why is Harper so different?
Not everyone who experiences trauma like harpers is going to be strong about it. So sick of this hate, people saying she should of just talked or not taken it out on other people. She is a kid, who went through some shit and had no idea how to handle. I hope in a season 2 we see her apologize and maybe show how complicated it is to mend relationships after a traumatic experience. It was authentic. Most times when bad things happen to people, they make bad choices. I understand disliking her because she was doing shit things, but i have barely seen a drip of empathy in discourse. its annoying.

The funny thing about Sasha and Quinni's argument is that Sasha made it seem like it was so hard to be with Quinni when SASHA MADE IT THAT WAY
The minute Sasha finds out about the autism she treats Quinni differently, immediately infantalizing her, parenting her, and making every thought and behavior about autism. It's only hard because you babysit Quinni in every social interaction. You can just see the difference in the way Darren talks and interacts with her versus the way every other sentence out of Sasha's mouth is autism related
