A woman walks into a bar. She's working for the bankruptcy team, because a flappy-haired gOOgly-eyed twat didn't manage a serious crisis properly, and had already seriously damaged the economy. The PM straightened his gOOgly eyeballs and asked scientists to research whether a second virus peak was more likely to be from lack of social distancing, or from British people starting to eat cats, dogs, foxes and squirrels after the improvement known as Brexit!

My actual opinion on the upcoming regeneration (so far anyway) is...
that the only thing likely to be explosive is all the bullsh*t fumes in the Daily Mirror office catching fire!
Especially after reading this breaking news, which all appears to be from 2017?

Leela: Romana, I typed your symptoms into the thing up here and it says you could have network connectivity problems.

I don't think Romana would end up like Bill. A FAILED REGENERATION would probably be a lot more likely if she'd continued being indecisive about it!

Can we drop the book recommendations for tonight? I was doing pretty well financially this month, I’d run out of work wages but was earning quite a bit on consumer survey sites.
Someone on M*msnet said that BBC Luther is “torture porn” and once I’d stopped laughing I ahem, didn’t get around to any more surveys. I quickly contacted my mum to make sure she hadn’t answered the door to a crazy man and also to ask her to lend me some money. Mostly the second part of that!
Handing out book recommendations is just not safe for my finances this weekend!    ;-)
I always find it funny when books like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson get crap for being ‘witchcraft’ and ‘anti-christian’ but you know who no one ever talks about? Phillip Pullman and his masterpiece His Dark Materials trilogy. Some of you may recognize the first book’s title, The Golden Compass from the awful movie adaption, but seriously those books are so so good and full of badass witches rebelling against the vadican for mutilating children, gay ass angels who join the rebellion so they can be free to love each other, an ex nun who escapes the oppression of the church to pursue a life of science, a little girl who is so good at manipulating she overthrows an entire empire in one day, and a 12 year old boy who murders god with a knife

Leela: guess what my shirt is made of
Romana: if you say “girlfriend material” again, i’m going to chuck myself out the window
Leela: i was not going to
Romana: good
Leela: . . . wife material.
Romana jokingly suggests that she's going to dive out of a window and starts leaning out of it. She actually falls, rolls across some razor sharp security spikes then lands very hard on her head! She's also already been messing about with her regenerations and is going to have problems in that department too!:

The Doctor: Well, Brax and I never actually fought when we were younger.
Brax: Except sometimes you would get angry when I would throw a baseball bat at you.
The Doctor: You did throw a baseball bat at me but that was pure accident, right?
Brax: No, that was a game we were playing.
The Doctor: It was Taste My Steel but I feel like it was pure accident.
Romana: What’s Taste My Steel?
Brax: It was a game we invented.
The Doctor: Yeah, it was a real collaborative effort. Basically, Brax had an aluminium baseball bat and he would throw it at me, but I would know it was coming.
Romana: How would you know?
The Doctor: Because he would shout: "taste my steel!" And throw the bat at me.
Brax: You dodged it every time, though.
The Doctor: Except the last time that we played it. You hit me right in the eyeball and I got the biggest, nastiest shiner anyone's ever gotten and then mum was like: "hey, don't play Taste My Steel anymore."
Wait, so Brax could turn up Harley Quinn style having survived the Time War and ready to beat someone into a Failed Regeneration? Ouch!:

1. There was enough Time Lord energy in them that their baby could regenerate! I’m sure a virus wouldn’t have done them serious harm.
2. They were never exactly reliable at work anyway. I myself have still been going to work and not had any serious issues beyond not being able to go clothing shopping!
3. The idea of Rory dying of it then getting it magically undone could get someone rude comments so be very careful what you post...
4. I’m more worried that they ended up in the middle of World War 2!
Considering Amy and Rory were from 2020 before the Angels thing , they had to deal with Corona, right?
What was it like?
Someone fic it.
Please.

Yaz arrives, sees everyone watching Bake Off while they’re waiting for stuff to cook and says “What a steaming pile of...!”
Graham: Hey, it’s not that bad is it?
Yaz: Not your cake, this programme. It’s absolute piffle!
Ryan: Don’t say that, he might watch something else, like Storage Wars.
Graham: What’s wrong with Storage Wars?
Yaz: Hey, I’m going shopping, who’s coming?
Graham: Who’s going to help with all this washing up?
The rest of the team decide that if Graham is going to watch a programme where adults throw tantrums over a cake - or Storage Wars, the less said about that crapola the better - he’ll be doing the washing up himself!
13 knocks at Graham’s door wiping her feet on his door mat: Just me!
Graham arrives at the door his apron smudged in flour: In you come Doc, the kettle is on, Ryan’s upstairs.
13 hangs her coat up wandering into the kitchen to see Graham’s baking extravaganza: Wow! Didn’t realise you had all the gear for baking too.
Graham smiles sliding a cup of tea over: Grace and I used to watch bake off religiously, we got really into it when my appetite came back.
Ryan yawns stretching as he shuffles in: Morning, what’s for breakfast?
Graham slides some scones over to him: I used the last of the milk for my practice cake you’ll have to make do with these and some jam. So Doc, how’s the Tardis?
13 watches as Ryan happily scoffs through his first scone smiling: She’s fine thank you, eager to get back to adventures much like all of us. I think Ancient Greece is first on the cards.
Graham rubs his hands together: Lovely, bit of sun wouldn’t go amiss. Now turn around don’t want you getting a peek at what your cake is going to look like do we.

this is so funny to me because it’s literally like nearly half past midnight in the UK, and my girl Joke Karen Rowling must of tumbled back her fifth glass of red and hazily slumped over to her gold plated, diamond incrusted iPhone 15 just to say “fuck it, i’ve pretended not to hate trans women for too long now” and tweet up a shitstorm about how oppressed and unlistened to one of the richest white women on Earth is because somebody called her transphobic

I Am Against All of The Following:
Racism & Right-Wing politics
Transphobia / Homophobia
Rioting / looting / destruction
Murder
War
Poverty-inducing Conservative politics
Child abuse of any kind
Nuclear weapons (including the international cost of the things)
Extreme TV / music censorship
Modern “mum$net” feminism even without the Transphobia and censorship
Brexit!!
If you support any of these you don’t have to block or unfollow me but if you can’t handle being disagreed with, it might be a good idea.
I am also against bullying including online, so anyone sending hate comments, rather than disagreement, will get blocked!!

Educate me into supporting violence? You’ll have a very hard job doing that and what have your cats got to do with it? Guilt tripping usually means that someone doesn’t have a decent point to put across!
I also really do not like being accused of supporting the racist right because I hate them. You are going to get unfollowed!
If you are against BLM, you are unwelcome on my page.
If you support AllLivesMatter or BlueLivesMatter, you are not my friend.
If you think the riots are unjustified and irrational, unfollow me right now.
I am not black, but I support the black community all the way. I cannot possibly understand your pain or your suffering, but I'm with you. Now and forever.

Something I had in mind as a potential twist...
for how the Doctor could heal himself in that one where he ended up blind...
"Shouldn't I have adjusted by now?" wondered the Doctor. It had been nearly all day since he'd been able to see and everything still seemed much too bright. It was really beginning to make his head hurt.
Everything also seemed too loud, which he thought was a bit odd as there hadn't been any problems with his hearing to begin with. Oh, and he was getting uncomfortably hot. Had Bill been playing with the settings in the TARDIS control room the last time she was in here?
He tried to get up to check the heating settings and sat back down quickly. Everything was spinning, he could feel his heartbeats and and he was going freezing cold and too hot alternately. Maybe he should just go to sleep? He'd had a stressful few weeks, to say the least, and he probably needed to rest for a bit.
He went to the bedroom and undressed. While he was putting on his nightclothes, he saw the faint patches of light on his body. They flickered for a moment then disappeared. Something was very wrong here! He managed to find a medical scanner and checked himself. Most of the readings were all over the place or not even showing.
The artificial process he'd used to heal his eyes - although it had worked - had interfered with his regeneration energy and his body was rejecting it. He knew it would probably sort itself out after a while, but it was certainly going to be unpleasant...
<>
"What is this infernal racket?" asked Bill.
"This racket is Eminem!" said her friend. Another person whose musical tastes they really needed to have a talk about!
That reminded her, she hadn't heard from the Doctor all day. She went to the other room to check her phone, it could well have been ringing all evening and she wouldn’t have known.
There was an automated text about offers from her phone provider, and nothing from anyone else including the Doctor. She called him.
“How are you?”
"Fine…” His voice sounded kind of strained and like he was down the end of a long corridor, but she tried not to worry. He could be calling from anywhere and she couldn’t even hear him properly over the sounds of I Still Don’t Give A Fuck.
“You can still see, can't you?"
"Yeah, of course! I can hear too, can you turn that down?"
"Sorry, that’s the guys from uni. It's a proper row, isn't it? Can I come and see you tonight?”
"Er, that might not be a good idea, I'm kind of busy," - he trailed off and she could hear him groaning then the line went dead.
"I'm going out," Bill told her friends quickly.
"It's not that bad is it? Okay, I'll turn it down,"
"It's not that, I need some stuff from the supermarket and it shuts at 10 o'clock!”
She rushed out and went to where she knew he'd left the TARDIS. When she let herself in he was in the bedroom.
"Hey, I'm here!" she called.
"I told you, I'm busy!"
"Can I just talk to you for a moment?"
She opened the door and he was sitting up in bed with the lights turned halfway down. He looked terrible, pale and shaking all over and she thought she saw regeneration energy flashing.
"Bloody hell! What happened to you?"
"Language! I regenerated my eyes but I think the rest of my body got a bit annoyed!”
"And you weren't going to tell me about this either?”
“Nothing you can do anyway, the energy just needs to burn itself out and reset. I'll be fine -" he screamed and the regeneration glowing started again. "Sorry!"
"What are you sorry for?"
"I was trying not to do that in front of you, it's embarrassing! Stop fussing, seriously,"
“Are you gonna regenerate?” asked Bill, in her usual tactful manner.
“I don’t think so, I’m not dying,”
“Good. How many personas have you had?”
“About twelve, why?”
“Was one of ‘em the Real Slim Shady?”
The Doctor glared at her.
“Joke. Never mind. I don't think you should be trying to stop that thing. I was looking at the notes you’ve got about this stuff and it says you need to drain the energy. Can I go in the other room and you call me if you want anything?”
“Okay. I would suggest going home for a few days but I can’t be morally responsible for you having to listen to any more rap!”
“Says the guy who listens to Beethoven!”
“Beethoven didn’t tell anyone to smack a ho, at least!”
Bill went in the other room and the Doctor tried to carry on with the formulas he’d been working on. She found him asleep at his desk like an overtired student an hour later and she had to wake him up just to tell him to go back to bed.
“Doctor?”
“Yeah?” he curled up against the wall in bed. He was shivering again and looked whiter than ever apart from some of his veins, which were glowing golden.
“I can’t get some of the machines to come on in the control room. One of the crystal things you left in there has gone flat,” said Bill.
“Just connect it to the thing on the console like I showed you. We’re not going anywhere right now anyway!”
“I tried that already. It think it’s too flat to start, like when I couldn’t get my phone to come on. Do you think it would start a little bit if you threw your energy at it?”
“Maybe…” said the Doctor.
She helped him to sit up and hold it, and he started flickering with regeneration energy.
“Nope, that doesn’t work!”
“I think it’s getting warm…”
“This hurts…” his energy tried to fade out again.
“I know it does. But we could get stuck here if we don’t get this working!”
He tried again, groaning with the effort. This time it was uncomfortably bright for her to look at and seemed to be running down his arms.
Still nothing happened to the crystal. He looked like he was really struggling now and the energy had died down into flickers.
“Can you do that any more at all? We need enough power to get to 1998!”
“Why 1998?”
“Because if I can find Mr Slim Shady we’re going to put him in a soundproof vault!”
“Not…funny! I think I’d go all the way if I tried to do this any more. Put it away and we’ll try something else later on,”
He fell peacefully to sleep not long after that.
<>
By the time Bill got up the next day, the Doctor was awake and checking things in the control room.
“You look a lot better!”
“I feel it! Hey, did you ever get that crystal working? Let me have a look at it,”
“Er, I think it’s still in the bedroom,” said Bill.
“It’s not going to charge in there is it? I’ll get it,”
The Doctor came back in half-smiling.
“Bill, you can be such an idiot sometimes,” he said. “This one’s not even a real power crystal, it’s just a glass paperweight! No wonder it wasn’t working!”
“Oops, sorry!”
“Wait! You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”
Bill decided that just now might be a good time to go home and deal with the rubbish her friends had probably left round the new flat. Starting with their album collection…

There’s actually two reasons why
the Time Lords thought this problem was caused by a nuclear accident...
It’s not just that they assumed anyone with that much cell damage must have been standing close to a melting nuclear reactor for a fairly long time, presumably after hitting their regeneration limit.
They had good reason to think it was power related anyway - they knew that the War Council were building entirely electrical aircraft. They were even testing a steam-powered version, WHY? Perhaps they were just bored, they’d been around hundreds of years doing not much.
Or perhaps they needed it because this new weapon really destroyed them in other ways? Half of the tech in the city either needed Artron energy to run or it had to be activated by psychic connection - kind of like the Time Lord equivalent of Alexa - and it wasn’t working.
Someone told Jen that he could hear a faint crying sound whenever he was in his TARDIS. She thought he was delirious because of his shattered regeneration abilities but she heard it too...

What’s worse than experimenting on your small child?
Experimenting quickly on your dying work friends after their regeneration abilities have been so badly destroyed that at first they thought it was caused by a nuclear accident.
Those weird burns they have are not their skin starting to peel from radiation - no, Time Lords can survive that and would just regenerate anyway. Another kind of energy went right through them, they heard a piercing sound at the time and some thought of glass breaking. Perhaps it represented their abilities shattering?
Adult Time Lords (unlike small children) are very very aware when there’s something terribly wrong with them, involving imminent death. If it helps they won’t have to live as deformed wrecks - their regeneration process would need to get at least halfway for that.
Leaving it alone would hopefully just result in them going to sleep forever although before that they’re probably going to get unpleasant problems of other kinds (they have absolutely no regeneration or immunity) and lose their minds from visions of dead future incarnations.
Trying to fix it involves strapping them to a table almost naked and burning them with beams of super-heated energy. At which point they might end up as deformed wrecks and will probably die anyway.
(Seriously, this was always going to be one of my OCs’ background story and is nothing to do with recent finale developments)
