In case you’re wondering, this is what this post is about:
This got longer than I meant it to be, so under the cut it goes.
“John; these things are – th-they’re just evil, plain and simple, and right now they’re torturing and tormenting everyone!” - MAG 166
“These things” being the rulers of domains, what would have been considered avatars before the change. Martin literally just said to Jon’s face that he’s evil, plain and simple.
“(Sarcastic) Oh, yeah, sure; he’s probably a really kind, benevolent ruler of a hellish fear prison.” - MAG 168
Obviously anyone that has a hellish fear prison can’t be a good person, said to the person who has the biggest fear prison in the apocalypse.
“What I know, is that leaving children here is – (struggles for words) i-it’s inexcusable; it’s monstrous!” - MAG 173
This one is literally about Jon. Jon is begging Martin to tell him what he wants him to do, and the only answer Martin gives him is to call him monstrous.
“You’re removing evil from the world.” - MAG 174
Once again, the evil in question is people ruling domains. Once again, said straight to the person with the largest domain in the apocalypse.
“MARTIN
I’m one of them.
ARCHIVIST
One of… us.
MARTIN
That’s not as comforting as you think it is.” -
MAG 185
I think Jon is trying to say “just because you’re a watcher doesn’t mean you’re evil, I’m a watcher.” And Martin essentially replies with “that’s not comforting, because I already think you’re part evil” (at least that’s my interpretation)
“MARTIN
And this is all because I’ve been given a domain? Because apparently I somehow have people’s fear feeding me?
ARCHIVIST
Well, feeding The Eye through you, but yes.
MARTIN
Even though I didn’t ask for it? Did nothing to deserve it?
ARCHIVIST
‘Deserve’. Huh. Now there’s a word that always causes trouble.
MARTIN
Don’t be patronising.
ARCHIVIST
I just mean that nobody here deserves the position they’ve found themselves in, not really. I suppose a few may have asked for it, sought it out even, but far more didn’t. They just made the wrong choices for the right reasons. Or even the right choices. But ones that still led them here in the end.
MARTIN
I hate it.” - MAG 185
To me, Jon is once again trying to say “having a domain doesn’t necessarily make you evil” but Martin brushes right past it.
“MARTIN
I’m thinking that I didn’t ask for this. It’s not my fault they’re here.
ALSO MARTIN
True.
MARTIN
But I can’t keep existing like this at their expense. It’s not… it’s not right. Whatever happens with Elias, W-with the rest of the world… I can’t live on the misery of others.” - MAG 186
Martin believes living off of other’s pain is “not right” and that he should die. So, again consciously or not, he believes that Jon should die, or more likely in my opinion, he believes that Jon should want to die.
I’ll admit, the last few quotes are moreso my own personal take on those scenes, but I feel like those scenes really showcase how Martin considers the watchers.
Martin is so certain of his own humanity, that he doesn’t realize how much he’s dehumanizing Jon. To him, there’s Jon, his human boyfriend that is a Good Person tm, and the Archivist, the monster that puppets Jon’s body around sometimes.
In Martin’s head there’s no way his Good Person Human boyfriend, Jon, could possibly be capable of hurting others, it’s all the Archivists fault. The Archivist is a monster trying to take over Jon.
Because Jon is a Good Person, he should rather die than continue letting the Archivist exist, because the Archivist is evil, plain and simple.

(I swear there’s a meme that is in this format, but I couldn’t find it, so here’s my awful drawing.)

You know, as much as I find the "Jon puts his whole heart into the statement and then calls it fake" posts funny. I feel like everyone forgets that there are, in fact, a lot of fake statements.
When Martin yells at Jon for "Pushing the sceptic thing so hard" we're inclined to agree with him, but that's only because we only hear the real statements. Martin would likely be hearing Jon record all the statements, and for most of them, Jon's gonna be right, cause they are fake.
"I still think most of the statements down here aren’t real. Of the hundreds I’ve recorded, we’ve had maybe… thirty, forty that are… that go on tape. Now, those, I believe, at least for the most part."
Hundreds. Jon has recorded hundreds of statements between, at least, January 13th (Naomi Herne's statement) to July 29th (the infestation) and only 38 of them were real. (33, that were written statements already in the archives)

I started watching Hannibal, and I might make a post about my thoughts later, but this has been bugging me.
Does Will actually need glasses? I feel like he hardly wears them, and when he does he takes them off within 10 minutes of putting them on.
It’s never mentioned if he wears contacts, but I would guess he doesn’t, because you never see him take them out before putting on his glasses.
Also he was given his glasses when he was let out of the asylum, so every time someone visited, was he just looking at a blurry figure and guessing who it was?
Edit: Thank you everyone who answered, it makes sense that he technically needs them, but is mostly used as a barrier between himself and others. (I do kinda wish he just goes around blind all the time, I just think that’s funnier.)

Something that I noticed recently while listening to some random TMA episodes is that Jon only does things if he thinks they'll make a difference.
I know, why would anyone do something if they didn’t think it would make a difference? What I mean is, where other characters might do things that they know almost definitely won’t help Jon doesn’t even bother to try.
In MAG 39, when Tim comes back from lunch Sasha and Martin are yelling to him to look around, but Jon doesn’t bother, he knows the room is soundproof.
In MAG 118, Jon doesn’t bother to try to help the victims in the Unknowing, because there’s not really any way that he could help them.
In MAG 178, this is where I really noticed it, Martin keeps trying to talk to the victims of the domain, but Jon keeps telling him not to bother because they aren’t aware of them.
There probably some instances where he will do something that he knows won’t have any affects, but I don’t remember.
I’m not really going somewhere with this, just that it's an interesting character trait.

People are screaming that Sam hasn’t mentioned Jon or Martin, but like, why would he? Sure he briefly looked into them, under Celia’s advice, but they were, quite literally, a dead end.
That doesn’t explain why Georgie and Melanie haven’t said either of their names, but it’s probably difficult to talk about them.

BASIRA
Hmm. London’s what, 600 square miles?
ARCHIVIST
607.
BASIRA
(sighs) Whatever.
This is from MAG 155. I fully believe that Jon just knows that. No spooky magic Eye powers, he’s just a know-it-all little nerd.

My thoughts on Englewood After Dark:
I really like it
I think everyone should go listen to it, it's one of the best small town mystery podcasts that I've listened to
I’m caught up with it
Finn’s my favorite character
I pestered my brother to listen until he finally did, because I knew this would right up his alley, and I was right.
He quite enjoys the show as well.
I do think Finn might die.
I can't tell if Chuck got possessed or if there was someone that walked in the room
Very sad about October, I really liked her dynamic with everyone.
Finn is a much stronger man than I am. I would have been "I told you so"-ing so hard about the ghosts.
I am a little mad that Eve didn't really apologize to Finn about it.
I think I had more to say, but I can't remember and I've had this in my drafts for a while, so I might add more later.

I gathered as many canon descriptions as I could find Here
(I'm being very loose with what is considered a description, cause there's not a whole lot to work with.)
are there any actual canon TMA character designs or is the entire fandom just in peace and harmony about what everyone looks like

Just in case, don’t read if you haven’t listened to today’s episode yet.
Is Melanie dead? Is that why Georgie seems so bitter and aggressive?

Kinda crazy that Andrew and Aaron look exactly the same, like to the point that without Andrew’s arm bands to most people they might as well be carbon copies.
Like sure, identical twins, but there so many things one can do to differentiate one’s appearance from another. For them to look so much alike, they have the same style of clothing, same hairstyle, same general demeanor, etc.
I’m just surprised by it, given how they hardly even seem to like each other’s company, but either they don’t care enough to try look different, maybe even like looking so similar to each other, or they’re actively trying to copy one another, which I doubt, but maybe.

My thoughts on All for the Game:
So I've read (technically listened to) The Foxhole Court, The Raven King, and The King's Men. I'm pretty sure that The Sunshine Court and The Golden Raven are also part of the same universe, so I'm sure I'll read those eventually as well.
I think I had heard of it before, but always assumed it was a sports book, so didn't really bother. But then I saw this post and thought "sure why not" and found it on Libby
Even after I saw that post, I was not expecting it to immediately open with "I remember the day i fell in love with Exy, the day my father gored a man in front of my little baby eyes"
Like absolutely wild book concept, but it works. (I mostly find it so crazy because it's a book, I wouldn't have bat an eye if it were an anime, show, comic even, just something visual, but it's just seems wild for a book to me for some reason.)
I know the book takes place in 2006 (I think) and they were written some years ago, but I kept thinking "Wymack you can't say that anymore, you're gonna get cancelled."
100% thought that Neil was gonna end up with Kevin, although I was kinda wondering if he and Andrew would be a thing when Andrew nearly broke his ribs in their first meeting.
Honestly kinda just wondering if they're all together or what. especially with the "Andrew at my back, Kevin at my side" thing in The King's Men.
Am I missing something about Andrew? Cause why does Kevin believe him when he says he can protect him? Like yeah, I sure as hell never want to get on his bad side, but like a mafia? They're scared of some 5' tall, 20 year old?
Andrew's my favorite character, but I honestly really like all the foxes. Maybe not Seth, but I would have liked to know more about him (too bad Neil just does not care if it's not about Andrew or Exy)
I see everyone pacing back and forth about Andrew and Aaron, which yeah, same, but I need more people talking about Andrew and Nicky. (And Aaron and nicky)
Cause what do you mean Nicky dropped everything to become the legal guardian to his cousins? One of whom he literally never met.
Nicky is such an underrated character to me, like yeah he acts like a flamboyant gay stereotype and kinda sucks sometimes, but I feel like there's so much more there.
Again, he dropped everything, including pausing his relationship with Eric (Erik?) to become the legal guardian to his cousins. And even after they turned 18, and he could have left to go back to Germany, he stayed.
I wonder why Andrew never told Nicky he was gay, it's not like Nicky would have been mad. Probably just didn't really come up, and didn’t trust him to keep a secret.
Where did the name Minyard come from? Hemmick is Nicky’s father’s name so one would assume it is also Tilda’s last name. Cause I was assuming that Tilda had the twins out of wedlock and is no longer in contact with the father, but now that I think about it, I’m not sure why I thought that.
Maybe the twins’ father just died or something.
I do really like how completely out-of-pocket everyone is, like mostly Neil, but every single one of those guys are at least a little weird.

My thoughts on Fawx & Stallion season 2:
It's funny to me that in the show about the people who are trying to get out from Sherlock and Watson's shadow the best episode of the season, arguably the whole show, is the one all about Sherlock and Watson.
I was not expecting Sherlock to have such a high voice.
I didn't recognize the voice at all, but it was also like 2 and a half weeks after I had listened to the previous episode.
I figured it out after Hampton asked Watson to repeat everything.
I am curious how Archie's plotline will fit in. I saw a post saying something about how Dennis mentioned a family recipe and how maybe the chefs were behind it. (Though that would mean that they knew it wasn't really Watson somehow)
Poor Dennis.
Also wonder if the womens' club will be involved somehow.
I wonder if the kids knew it was Sherlock and just didn't say anything.
I wonder if we'll get to see how Sherlock feels about Hampton.
like sure, he antagonized him with the interview, but I want to know how he feels about Hampton. Does he find it refreshing to meet someone that doesn't hear his name and immediately jump for joy?
