Spent the weekend in Iowa with my boyfriend. Never been there before, but we walked around hand-in-hand. Wearing our cowboy boots and big smiles. It felt weird to be in a state that was enacting really messed up policies. It felt heavy in ways I don’t know how to fix. We stayed in a Victorian bed-and-breakfast, I’m pretty sure it was haunted. I had a stuffy nose the whole time. We went to a wedding and saw people in love. We kissed in a parking lot. We decided we never needed to live on the Mississippi river. We remembered we love our home a ferry ride from Seattle. We opened the window at night while sleeping in the haunted house, letting the sounds of an unfamiliar place rock us to sleep. 👻💕👫
