first time doing a meet the artist thingy! there is a lot of fandom stuff on it because I feel like the types of media I consume and interact with can tell u a lot more about me than idk a favourite food. I would be very happy to find some mutuals interested in similar things!

also this kinda doesnt look like me but I am terrible at catching the resemblance in my art, and I generally have a pretty distorted view of myself (i think?) so, sorry about that, i tried my best 🥸

also also I haven't done digital in SUCH a long time. damn. university and depression have eaten up all of my time past few months – but I am finally drawing again! I hope I can keep up the momentum : p

Does anyone else have so much trouble creating ocs? I want them to be so complex and interesting that I end up overthinking them, trying to put too many ideas into one character and making a nothing-burger.

Also, every time I consume a piece of media I like, I wanna change everything about my ocs/conworld to be like that media. The never-ending cycle 😔

How does one break out of that kind of creative block?

Ok to be honest I have not finished TMA. It's not that I didn't like it, I LOVED it. I just kinda burnt out. Idk man. And now I have the urge to finally finish it but what if... relisten to the whole thing? While taking notes after every episode?? Making a graph of every character event and fear and how they connect?????

Problem is: I love the idea of taking notes. But it puts so much pressure on me! Not only I have to commit to listening through a whole episode when I start one, I also have to find the time and good conditions to do the notes after I finish listening. Cant listen to too many episodes in a row bc then I will get lost in the notes...

And that pressure makes me not want to start listening at all. And we go back to square one. Why is my brain like this

Also idk if that's basic bc it's the MC's alignment but I am SO eye aligned it's not even funny. Just like me fr 👁👁

I'm making an animation!!!

It's about my silly alchemist moth-coded twink oc who started out as a dnd character (which his lore is based on). Also my therapist says he's kinda like me which is in fact, not good !

Let me walk you through my process - the art you see above is a trial, fully rendered frame, the goal being ofc making them all look this good!

This is my animatic - to highlight timing, movement and values of each scene. I'm using a fragment of the song If I Were You by Nothing but Thieves as soundtrack, I think it fits the character very well and also I really like it c:

Now, a little more about the main character and the whole process. His name is Ciem No (it's a silly polish word play on the word darkness) and he currently looks like pic 1, while pic 2 is his backstory self

I even made his house in The Sims 4 because I struggled with perspective and couldn't be bothered to learn blender lol

Also, next to it you can see my storyboard! Some frames didn't exactly fit how I wanted them to, so they're different in the animatic!

If anyone's curious, I did the drawing in Clip Studio Paint, the motion in After Effects and then put the whole thing together in Adobe Premiere Pro!

I'm required to work with Adobe software since this whole animation is a uni homework, but I don't think using adobe is neccesary in any way. I will keep you updated on the next steps of this project! (If anyone is actually reading this ._.)
