man how come everyone forgets an NPC states Greevil is the richest man in the world? Like, this bastard so ugly and unloveable, he probably paid someone to bear him children... no wonder ardos and eldes has issue. Giovanni got nothin on Sir I-Can't-Be-Happy-Unless-I-Own-And-Control-The-Things-I-Can't-Have
This man is on the bottom of the “I’m loved” totem pole. If he’s even ON the totem pole. Seriously, Eldes, stop trying to plead for your father he’s never gonna love you.

I mean... considering Danganrompa gave us THIS woman, let’s say I’m happier knowing Greevil wasn’t successful.

OH you know what I forgot to mention? Cipher wasn’t too shy to literally kidnap, beat up, or blow up other people for their own personal gains, no pokemon fight included. Back then that was the first time you’ve seen people literally being kidnapped in a Pokemon game so YEAH. Cipher tried to kidnap Rui in the first game, and kidnapped one of the head scientists in XD who was developing the purification chamber. It’s also the first game that actually showed Pokemon attacking people too. Colosseum and XD were hardcore fucking games and Gen 4 wasn’t even out yet.
I've never played these games, what is greevil do in them
Okay gather round folks, for I will explain the story of Pokemon Colosseum and its sequel, Pokemon XD and what Greevil did to the Orre region.
BACKSTORY:
SO BASICALLY the Orre region started off as a completely barren region with a desert and only one lush resort for old farts. There were NO POKEMON to be caught. So the best way to have pokemon is to either bring them in from other regions yourself… or STEAL them. That’s how Team Snagem (and Colosseum’s protagonist, Wes) started out, as they had snag machines to steal pokemon.
Cipher’s Orre branch took advantage of that to have Snagem steal pokemon to be used in the Shadow Pokemon project that was developed by Ein. Ein, like Colress, wanted to find a way to bring out the power of Pokemon and his solution was to shut their hearts and literally mindrape them in a way where they LOOKED normal, except they were powerful, vicious and violent to the point they could actually attack their owners. Hell, they had their own unique movepools that were super effective on non Shadow Pokemon. Problem is, they were wild and uncontrollable, and Wes decided fuck it I’m gonna steal the only other snag machine, blow up Team Snagem’s headquarters, and get the shadow pokemon back.
Wes, with Rui’s help since she could tell what was a shadow pokemon with dark auras, stopped Cipher’s initial plan, but five years later in XD they picked back up, and Michael was handed the reigns to stop Cipher who developed a way to mass produce shadow pokemon and nearly created an unstoppable army of shadow pokemon under the orders of Greevil. Greevil also hired Lovrina to develop Shadow Lugia, a shadow pokemon who is literally unable to be purified (eventually you can purify him but it takes a lot of effort to). Onto Greevil, though.
Greevil’s got a lot of parallels to Ghetsis, namely that:
He’s secretly the head of a powerful criminal organization bent on taking over an entire region, disguised as something else. Only difference is that Cipher Labs was so deeply underground and they kept quiet for a VERY long time both times before they got onto anybody’s radars. Hell, the first time they caught attention was the fact (in Colosseum) that Rui was able to SEE the auras of these pokemon. That’s dumb luck on Wes’ part.
Greevil did a better job at hiding his motives until halfway through the sequel when he revealed himself to Michael. Even then a lot of people had uncomfortable vibes about him early game when he was the cheerful Veritas.
Greevil has two sons. Hell I didn’t even know they were his sons until late game. They don’t even refer to him as father, and it took a lot of pleading from Eldes to tell Greevil to not blow up the island they were on just because Michael took out their entire plan. Ardos, the other son, still hates Michael though. So I don’t think there’s a lot of love between the three of them since it’s definitely obviously that Greevil was seriously neglectful of them.
He corrupted a legendary pokemon and used it against you. Yeah. he’s the original cheater with seven pokemon on his team.
Hs entire team consists of Shadow Pokemon that you have to snag and they’re all very powerful. If I recall he had Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltress. All Shadow Pokemon. All controlled. This man is a nightmare.
Seriously, what WOULD have happened if he succeeded in his plan? He’d have an entire army of extremely powerful loyal beasts that would have taken over multiple regions.
The Cipher Peon outfits are hella cool looking. So the guy had better style than most of the other villainous organizations. :B
