Hey, folks! I've tried to make an accompanying illustration for CaV (for the first chapter) and now I sorta kinda hate it!
Hope it works alright on its own, because judging from the reviews the story is traumatizing. I couldn't tell you, I only write things.

The 46th Kaga-Yuzen Traditional Crafts Exhibition Visiting Kimono "Cape" by Masako Okuda
A cape is a landform that juts out into the sea, and this work is a deformed version of the landscape of Cape Noto Saruto. Standing on the cape with the land behind you, you feel the greatness of the sea and mountains, and the preciousness of human life.

Thinking abt Uchiha brothers, some headcanons re: Madara & Izuna
1- Madara’s rule was both the most prosperous and most devastating for the Uchiha
2- while Madara was clan head, in actuality it was Madara AND Izuna ruling the clan together
the cut off between prosperous and devastating was the day Izuna died.
As sons of the clan head, they were raised with the mindset of duty towards the clan, to protect and uplift it at all times (and costs). As their numbers rapidly dwindled from five to two, Madara and Izuna had developed a borderline toxic mutual codependency on each other.
In Madara’s mind his sole purpose was to protect Izuna and the clan, to burn anything and anyone that stood in their way. He was born to fight so that they could prosper, to kill and bleed so they may be safe. The Uchiha believed Madara was a blessing given to them by the gods.
A child born in the dead of the harshest winter they’d seen in decades, Tajima lamented his birth as a mistake, a waste of resources, and a short-sighted miscalculation on their part. No one expected him to survive, but he did, against all odds he persevered, a fiery soul that the harsh cold could not snuff out. His monstrous strength, seemingly endless chakra reserves, genius battle skills, and awakening of the Mangekyou, which had been dormant for centuries to the point of becoming nothing more than a myth, were nothing short of miracles. Truly, the gods had blessed them with a divine warrior and protector.
The clan drilled into him that he was blessed with all this strength in order to lead the Uchiha to victory, to ascend them to glory, and Madara was raised as such.
He loved them, but from the pedestal they placed him on, he found it difficult to communicate with his clan, every interaction was laced with either idolization, expectations, fear, or a mixture thereof. But that was not an issue, because he had Izuna, clever and sharp-witted and brilliant, who acted as the bridge between them. Izuna who badly pretended to not care about anything outside of being a shinobi, but whose favorite jutsu was one that conjured flame butterflies that served no purpose other than looking pretty. Who treated him as a person and not some kind of godly savior.
Despite the Uchiha’s aspirations, Madara still yearned for peace. As such, he believed he was blessed with all this strength in order to become Calamity manifest, so that no one could ever hurt them and one day Izuna could do things like write stories and music and not have to train until his hands bled and his body collapsed. If the Uchiha became the strongest, if they finally felled the Senju and no one could stand up to them anymore, if they utilized the resulting power vacuum to subdue the other clans and establish a new status quo, then maybe they would achieve peace. A twisted peace enforced through fear and bloodshed, but peace nonetheless. (one that was more realistic than setting aside a centuries old blood feud and playing friends)
This was the Uchiha’s destiny, why else would the gods grant them a wildfire of such divine magnitude, capable of burning down the old order to establish a new one. From this perspective, Madara’s own dreams were insignificant, his naïve and foolish fantasies were not to be given more than a cursory shameful indulgence during a quiet night alone. He buried his hopes and dreams (and by extension his sense of self) and devoted himself entirely to Izuna and the clan.
In Izuna’s mind, he was not strong or smart or talented enough to protect the clan, but that didn’t really matter. There was one who was all these things, and all Izuna needed to do was protect that one person. Madara was the only one who could forge the destiny of the Uchiha, so for all intents and purposes, protecting Madara was protecting the clan, and loving Madara was loving the clan. If Izuna devoted his entire being to becoming everything Madara needed, it’s selfless right? He is fulfilling his duty to the clan, Madara also being the one person Izuna loved more than life itself was just a fortunate coincidence, nothing more.
Some in the clan saw Madara as a perfect divine warrior, but Izuna knew better. He knew underneath all that power, his brother was soft, and the world was not, and it was not kind to those who were.
Madara would do foolish things like dream of peace, collect legends and folktales to tell him when they were alone, and ask Izuna stupid questions like what he would do if he wasn’t a shinobi. The way his brother’s eyes lit up during these moments was Izuna’s greatest treasure, and he was terrified the world would rip it away and destroy it just like everything else in his life. Izuna’s solution to this threat was to bury away his treasure where no one could reach it. To protect Madara he needed to guide him away from his one weakness: kindness.
To that end, he needed to stand by Madara’s side, to become his right hand and advisor so he wouldn’t make stupid decisions. But Izuna also knew he was not as strong or skilled as his brother, whose grand shadow loomed over him like a mountain blocking out the sun.  With every new height Madara reached, his fear grew. Fear that one day he wouldn’t keep up, that his brother would leave him behind and go where he could not follow.
Izuna knew he was not built for battle, he did not have a strong body or bountiful chakra or sheer imbecilic determination to just shrug off injuries. He could never walk by Madara's side, he knew that, but if he worked hard and trained until he fell apart, then perhaps he could walk behind him. He did not have Madara’s overwhelming destructive potential, but he could wield what he did have to an equally lethal degree.
Izuna also knew that raw strength alone was not enough, and when dealing with politics an equal measure of diplomatic cunning is essential. It’s not like Madara was stupid; in fact he was one of the smartest people Izuna knew, but he was also honest and short-tempered and lacked any meaningful social delicacy to navigate the fragile webs of political warfare.
If anything, this was the one arena where their positions were reversed, and Izuna was going to make the most of it. He will manipulate and blackmail and seduce and extort to secure Madara’s success. He will bend and stoke the flames of the battlefield. He will become Madara’s strategist, advisor, confidant, and guardian for that fateful day when his brother finally wins. Maybe then the clan will ease up from breathing down his neck, busied with their new order, and Madara will no longer have to be their warrior god, finally rid of that crushing weight on his shoulders. Maybe then Izuna will finally get to dig up his treasure, and prays that it hasn’t withered away by then.

there’s been a really bizarre trend in the past couple years of TERFS/radfems getting pissed off about biology posts. posts about the bilateral gyandromorph cardinal (one half male, one half female), posts about older hens beginning to crow and act like roosters, posts about animals being animals. and it’s hilarious because they interpret these posts as some kind of agenda. no! these are animals not choosing any gender identity or sexuality but being born into bodies they have no control over. weird how that happens in nature huh

TobiIzu AU where Butsuma and his Hatake wife have an arranged marriage - one that was arranged to keep the Hatake-Senju alliance strong after a retaliation battle broke out after several years of failed negotiations/resource sharing.
That is what his mom tells him, at least, that to prevent the Senju from fighting a battle on two fronts and the Hatake from losing any more members of their dwindling clan they agreed to marry the two eldest of the clans together.
Except that Tobirama’s parents have a habit of being downright mean and argumentative when in the same room, only to then turn around tell their children how much they admire and respect each other, not only as spouses but as warriors.
Tobirama, ever the inquisitive one, asks his mom how she can respect dad if they can never be in the same room without arguing?
Her answer consists of a long winded explanation that basically says they speak with swords and actions, then words - that when they argue or spar, especially back when their clans were tempting each other into fights at their borders, that they were getting to know the other and it’s why, despite it being an arranged marriage, she loves her husband and finds him worthy of her hand and their children.
Little Tobirama takes all this in and comes to the logical conclusion that fighting the Uchiha must be a mating ritual of sorts and that the fight continues because no one has found a compatible match yet.
Naturally he seeks to rectify this. He does so by scribbling down his plan in a blank scroll that his brother gave him for his 4th birthday. The plans consists of several very important steps:
1 - get stronger
2 - get sent to the battlefield to meet potential suitors
3 - engage with several of them, preferably his age or up to Anija's age (who's 4 years older than him)
4 - single out one Uchiha who's fighting style he enjoys and respects, and who in turn seems to respect his fighting style.
5 - commence courtship via multiple battles/skirmishes until both parties are satisfied with the skills they've seen and then
6 - get married and stop the war
Not bad for a four year old child and his Anija seems to agree with his plan (mostly because he was only half listening and heard - peace with Uchiha and nothing else)
And so he goes, little Tobirama trains long and hard to acquire the necessary skills to become strong and get sent to the battlefield. When he losses his younger siblings to the Uchiha, it just makes him more determined to go and find his match to end this stupid war.
His first encounter with the Uchiha, of course, is at the river where he crosses blades with Izuna Uchiha. The boy is a bit whiny and he worships his weird, spiky haired older brother that Anija is enamoured with, but he stance is strong. And when he gets home, thoughts swirling about Izuna and he catches his expression in the mirror, he recognizes the same face his mom would make when thinking about their father.
Ah, he thinks then, A potential candidate for him to consider.
Next time they meet is on the actual battlefield. And despite trying to find other Uchiha to fight, in order to widen his sample size, Izuna appears before him and steals his attention. Meets him blow for blow, anticipates his moves and keeps his attention until someone calls a retreat. Tobirama finds it only a bit annoying, but at the same time can appreciate a potential suitor who is secure in what they want.
After 3 or 4 failed attempts at fighting someone else, Tobirama decides that Izuna must truly be serious about pursuing a courtship with him. And Tobirama, in turn, is touched that someone wants to court him so much after only meeting him a handful of times. It would feel insulting to not return Izuna's courtship with the same seriousness - so he does.
Tobirama spends hours training and inventing jutsus just to fight Izuna. When he meets him on the battlefield he praises the other's skill, compliments him on any new jutsus or tactics he brings to the field, and once even comments on how the way Izuna uses his Sharingan is truly masterful.
Needless to say, Izuna is confused as to why his self-proclaimed rival who he hates is saying all these things to him. And worse, why he's kind of into it. Which, of course, just makes him train even harder to catch Tobirama off guard. He will defeat the White Demon! For his clan and for his sanity!
Of course every new advancement brings forth more praise and admiration from Tobirama. Especially when Izuna brings out his new lightening based technique and lands, a severe hit on Tobirama. Not enough to be fatal, but enough that Hashirama calls a retreat. And instead of anger or fear, Tobirama looks up at Izuna with a fondness that has Izuna seriously questioning the man's sanity.
Lying on the infirmary bed while Anija fixes him, Tobirama decides that the injury must be Izuna's way of proposing. And he should answer in kind. Thus, the hiraishin is born. A whole new untapped branch of ninjutsu, invented by a man in love. At least, that's how Tobirama views it. And he's nothing if not a perfectionist.
The last battle of the Uchiha vs Senju happens (not that anyone but Tobirama is aware it will be the last) and Tobirama uses Hiraishin on his beloved. There is a brief moment of panic in his chest when he realizes that if Izuna dies then he won't be able to marry him and it increases when Izuna refuses Hashirama's help. But, Tobirama quickly settles that mental conundrum by assuming that it means Izuna only wants Tobirama to heal him.
So, Tobirama, a man in love, breaks into the Uchiha compound and sets about fixing up his fiance. Which is what he tells Madara, his soon to be brother-in-law, when he finds him as he's finishing up the procedure.
Izuna wakes up to a healed side, the news that his fiance is resting in the guest room and an interrogation from his older brother asking why he never bothered to mention he was courting the White Demon? When had his obsession turned into romantic feelings? Did you at least explain to him that he'd have to marry in?
All Izuna can say is: What?
Both brothers. after a short conversation, realize that neither of them have any idea what Tobirama is talking about. However, Madara is not above using this to get a ceasefire and Izuna is morbidly curious to see what he can get away with if his so-called fiance is so in love with him.
In the end, they do get a ceasefire and they do get married, and no one has the courage to inform Tobirama that is perception of the war was way off base. All the while, Tobirama is patting himself on the back for a job well done.
