Are you cold and mourning the loss of your favourite socks?

Then this is the project for you! <3
Takes like 5 minutes and is so much more effective than I thought it would be
I don’t think you need a tutorial here it’s literally so simple. Cut the toe part off, fold it inside until it fits your hand, sew and cut off excess, cut a hole into the heel (or just widen the hole that’s probably already there), fold the edges inside, sew, make a fold under the thumb hole to make it fit your hand, sew, there you go
#my hands are literally like ice all the time#and now they’re actually warm? witchcraft#I genuinely didn’t think it would work so well#sewing#self made#handmade#finished product#im gonna do this with all my old socks now so I’ll have a collection to match to my outfit

I‘M DONE!!! 🪐🌍☄️🚀⭐️💫
6 hours of hand sewing the lining plus more uncounted hours for pattern making, cutting, hemming and pinning and like 6,5 episodes of Fellow Travellers later, I’m finally done, just in time for Terrible Influence Tour on Wednesday (:

#I don’t wanna think about how much time I spent on this jacket#1. sewing on every single sequin with 2-4 stitches each#2. sewing on the patches (esp the elbow ones were annoying#3. lining the jacket by hand#luckily I have the super power of not having a sense of time#like it doesn’t really make a difference if I do something for 30min or 5h#feels the same to me#sewing#self made#handmade#<— actually *hand*made this time#the only time I used a sewing machine was for hemming the lining pieces#finished product#!!!#space jacket#sequins

Finally done with the design!!! Also added some gold star elbow patches I bought on a whim ⭐️

I decorated the front with the shimmering star sequins I had left over, since I decided to only use the gold ones on the back, so that it wouldn’t look so boring

Now the only thing to do is do cover the inside with lining to protect all the stitches from accidentally getting caught in something and ripping (: I found the perfect fabric in the second store I looked 🪐☄️👽

this is definitely not going to take me years

It is done!!! three days of doing this almost nonstop but I’m finally done! The photo really doesn’t do it justice, it glitters and shifts colours like crazy, it looks so, so cool! :D
Now just the planet patches and the star sequins for the rest of the jacket, but that’s so easy compared to this (:

this is definitely not going to take me years
#self made#handmade#space jacket#sequins#!!!#I used every single sequin in the pack btw#did I say that I got the pack for 75ct at a thrift store?#i picked it up because it was so cheap and it’d just been sitting in my drawer for like a year#before I had this idea#also the jacket is an old one from my mother#so material wise this is probablythe cheapest project I’ve ever done#but if you paid me for the work it’d be the most expensive lol#also#FINALLY#I have something black to wear to the d&p tour#I literally don’t own a single other black item of clothing#(with the exception of one dress bc of orchestra concert dress code but I don’t wear that otherwise so it doesn’t count)#anyways#this was actually#fun?#I had fun doing it#it was more like doing art than sewing#can recommend if you have time and a shit ton of podcasts and audiobooks on your list#wip

Also I made this outfit for a friend of mine (: it was my first time sewing something with just her measurements without it being possible for her to try it on before it was finished. so much maths -_- I was really scared that it wouldn’t fit but it was perfect, also the corset back makes it somewhat adjustable
details and progress pics under the cut <3

She wanted a corset top made from a specific fabric that I had left from something else, so the first challenge was that I didn’t have a lot of fabric left and there was basically no room for error 😅 then obviously I had to make a pattern based on her measurements and I also added a white silky lining on the inside because the fabric isn’t very comfortable. The boning is made of big zip ties and for the corset back I first wanted to use actual eyelets but because of the fabric they didn’t work but just ripped a hole into it 🥲 so I used these plastic loops that are attached to a strip of super firm fabric on the inside of the top. The skirt is a half circle skirt (again), they’re so simple and they just look the best in my opinion (:

Here’s the skirt on me, I really love the waistband, and how the top looks in the back when it’s laced up (you can also see where I had to fix the hole ): )
#finished product#sewing#self made#handmade#skirt#corset top#same friend I made the scrunchies for btw#that’s also where the fabric was from#I bought a pack of fabric scraps at the fabric store#(the ends of the big rolls when they are too short to sell are sold as scraps so those pieces are always super thin and really wide#are sold as scraps)#Then I made a scrunchie from the fabric#and THEN I used the rest of it for this top#it was a tight fit#also I had like a week to make the whole outfit

this dress was the first thing I ever made (: I didn’t wear it for a long time though because it was a little loose and I didn’t like how the border between the top and the skirt looked but now I finally made a matching belt that I can wear over it so I think it looks a lot more finished (:
#sewing#self made#handmade#finished product#it’s so easy to make a belt I was really surprised#it takes literally five minutes#you just need to buy a length of this kind of material idk what it’s called#a closure and a clip on metal thingie for the other end#they have all that at every fabric store#then all you do is clip the metal thingie on one end with some pliers#and loop the other end through the closure thing and sew it shut

back is done! ready to send my message to the world

Finally started doing this T-shirt! The dancing men is one of my favourite stories and Granada episodes :D feel free to decode this if you want, translation under the cut (;
update while this is still in the queue: I’m done with the front (:
Ok, the shirt says “Sherlock Holmes is gay” that’s literally it lol. The back is going to say “and in love with Dr. Watson” @contact-guy I had this shirt designed in my sewing drafts and then I saw your post and I was like \OoO/ I think this means we are telepathically connected (:

more patches (:

Look at my favourite pants :D
Close ups of the patches under the cut

This was tedious. I sewed on every single patch, cause I don’t trust just ironing it and let me tell you that jeans is THICC. Also probably my most expensive project, jeans was 30€ and the patches 2-5€ each. Worth it though :)

Hi (: I‘m not dead <3
I actually have been sewing but i haven’t been on tumblr a lot in the past few months because I’ve had so much to do and I‘ve not really had the energy to post about my projects or take nice photos. so. sorry about that
I will be doing some catching up now though so for the like ten people who will read this, expect some posts about what I’ve been doing this weekend (because right now it’s chill but after that, guess what, I will again have very little time for tumblr probably)
<3
#so yeah#I just spent 4 hours continuing my space jacket#guess what#still not even halfway finished#who would’ve thought#honestly I feel like that jacket should go on my art blog and not the sewing one because#it is going to be a fucking piece of art#if it’s ever finished#but I feel hopeful#I’ve just bought some new star patches today and felt inspired to continue#I think if I wanted to sell this jacket when it’s finished it would literally be thousands in manual labor#even with minimum wage#anyways#do I remember my tags#no#why is tumblr telling me to tag it with Stephen fry I have never in my life tagged something with Stephen fry#he writes great books though as I’ve recently discovered#ANYWAYS!#miscellaneous#right that was it

Thanks! :D I didn't use a pattern, I was honestly just winging it the whole time but here's how l made the collar in the end:
-tighten/alter the shirt so that the collar of the shirt is as close to the neck as (reasonably) possible
-put on the shirt and mark where the collar should start/the shape of the collar and measure how high you want the collar to go (I'd measure the height from the little corner since that's a clearly fixed point)
-cut a big rectangle of stretchy black fabric (I used an old undershirt of my friend)
-lay it inside (see sketch) and adjust the edge to your guidelines and measurements and pin in place. cut excess fabric off if needed
-sew everything on (I only loosely hand sewed the seams that are visible from the outside so that they would barely be visible)
-this will not result in a collar that fits snugly to your neck! If it did your head wouldn't fit through (unless you installed the Star Trek shoulder zippers TM)
-on the day of the cosplay use safety pins to make the collar fit snugly to your neck. since the fabric is all black the fold and if you pin it so that the main part of the safety pins is on the inside, the fold should be barely visible (maybe get some help with this though, it's almost impossible to do on yourself

I hope I explained it well! As I said, this isn't professional grade cosplay but it works. Please tell me if you have any more questions :D I love talking about sewing hehe
Here are some photos of the Amok Time Spirk cosplay I made for me and my friend for a convention!

obligatory spirk pic (we took a lot of very cute photos I have a whole folder in my phone)
It was quite a process honestly. We bought shirts from a thrift store and I altered them to be tight fitting. Then we added the black collar, which was very much eyeballing it but I think it turned out pretty good. We had to put some stealth safety pins in it to wear it though, so that the collar would fit snug to the neck (we couldn’t make them smaller because yk your head has to fit through). The rank stripes are giftwrap and glue lol but honestly they look really accurate (makes me wonder if they didn’t just do the same thing back in the 60s tbh). The insignias we also made ourselves. We cut them out on white fabric and sprayed it with gold spray and then I printed and cut out a stencil and did the black lines with marker.
Also, the most stressful moment in my entire sewing experience had to be cutting the slit into the Kirk uniform. All that work and i just have to cut into it. You better believe I measured and tried it over twenty times before cutting. Also I took a lot of photos before so I’d have something if I ruined it lol

Btw I stuck two pieces of bandaid on the inside at the ends of the slit to prevent it from ripping further.

This. THIS. This is the best thing I have ever made. If I show you anything it’s going to be this. A Victorian waistcoat, tailored to my body perfectly without a pattern or a sewing doll, literally the epitome of gender euphoria. God, I love this thing so much.

Ok, ok let me ramble a bit on why I love this so much please.
-gender: Victorian men are gender. Victorian men in their shirtsleeves are gender as fuck. as you can see I am somehow completely flat in this. I am not wearing a binder. That was not planned. This waistcoat just loves me.
-✨craftsmanship✨: I am literally so proud of this can you tell? Again, no one believed I could do this and that is the best motivation to get me to do something. I made the pattern myself, by pinning some scrap fabric to myself wearing an undershirt and drawing on lines and then sewing a rough mock-up, which I then altered for several weeks until it was perfect. Then traced the pattern onto the actual fabric. This also has red satin(like) lining on the inside, which means I basically made it twice and then sewed both pieces together. The fabric covered buttons I also made myself.
-I just literally always wanted to own something like that and I could never find anything close. This is why I love sewing. I love sewing so so much. Because I can dream of it and then I can just make it.
Ok rambling over bye <3
