linuxposting probably isn't reassuring anyone that linux is actually super easy to switch to but i promise the only reason i'm having issues is that i'm a weird edge case trying to do weird shit, if i were just browsing the internet and writing and streaming music from a service (or playing it off my own computer) absolutely none of these things would be issues. mint worked absolutely great out of the box and was instantly usable. i just have compulsive edge case disease.

on one hand it’s often too much for my animal brain to know about so many people and events all over the world but on the other hand today on my socials I posted a video foraging mushrooms and one of my mutuals who liked it in California posted a video sewing a 17th century dress reproduction from an original piece and one of my other mutuals who liked it in Alaska posted a video celebrating his town bringing in an entire whale and another of my mutuals who liked it in Ireland posted about their efforts removing invasive plants from a pasture and I’m like wow we all lived such different days on the same day all around the world and i got to see all of their smiles today and we all got to share in all those things from so far away. and life is beautiful and the world is beautiful and its people are so beautiful

Hey, scam PSA: I just got a call about missing jury duty for a grand jury trial, and while I was suspicious, the scammer was extremely convincing. It started out very reasonable, asking about why I had said I was going to go and didn’t show up, and said that the judge had issues two citations, one for contempt of court and one for failure to appear. Gave me citation numbers, badge number, name, asked me to write it all down. I got suspicious when they asked me for a bail payment before I’d even made it down there, and was pretty sure it was a scam when they said I couldn’t contact my lawyer without turning it into a criminal matter, and was ABSOLUTELY sure it was a scam when I saw their payment method, but. This scammer was extremely convincing and it was an extremely upsetting experience with him telling me that police would come and arrest me and if I came down to the station to make payment I’d be in jail for three days since I wanted to get a lawyer involved and that since no one was home with me I’d have to give my child into the custody of CPS. It sounds dumb writing it down, but they talk fast and scary and convincing. Be aware.
Incidentally, I spoke to “my lawyer” (my mom’s ex) and he said he nearly fell for it as well, a couple months ago, but called a criminal lawyer friend to make sure and by golly, a scam.
This is the first time I’ve nearly fallen for a scam call.

hi i am really sorry to do this and i know other people have much greater needs but i am totally out of financial cushion and worried about bills/rent this + next month
i am the sole supporter of two adults right now, as well as owing significant monetary support to our other roommate. i work full time but my qp partner is unable to find work that will keep him on. he's working with local disability services searching for a solution + applying to get on disability payments but we're in a really tight place in the meantime.
i do take commissions for art but am rather behind on some at the moment so please be patient if you're interested in one as i need to get thru my queue first.
