Happy International Couples Day!

A reveal that's even more overdue than the last non-anniversary celebration is here, being the appearance of Father "But-Just-Call-Him-Ferdinand" Deetz!

This was actually meant to be done as a Father's Day Specil (which would parallel how Mother Deetz's Design Reveal was done on Mother's Day), but the timing was too close to SwilTaett's 2nd Anniversary to be able to have the contents ready in time.

And in case anyone was curious about what the carpet pattern actually was, here's how it looks!

The most prominent appearance of Father Deetz is near the end of ACT 3, where he gives Kris a special piano-playing moment so that they can be the instrumental to a work-in-progress song that he's been writing in secret.

Also, now that he's finally public, the full Deetz Family Overworld Sprites can be shown together again, even including a special "Dark Mode" variant in case they ever have to face the night!

I tried to make a one-off Meru<>Helpress Swap AU for spriting practice because of how much Meru's original design reminded me of the Addisons in Deltarune.

I think that Helpress' Swap as Remro has more reason to it, with the appearance and palette being based on the TVs seen in Cyber City during Deltarune Chapter 2, as well as a very old TV-Headed Helpress idea that was first seen on the 16th of March in 2024 as one of ACT 2's earliest ideas.

I don't know if anything else will be seen of these designs or swaps again, but I did still enjoy making them!

Defernull Spamton and Tenna Dissection.

Defernull is brand spanking new and is an AU based off of an unfinished game. So things Will Most Likely change, whether it be tomorrow or when the new chapter comes out. Who knows.

I’m not going to lie, it’s going to be a little difficult for me to describe Tenna and Spamton’s characterizations in Defernull along with their situationship without it being a word vomit. Like all of this is purely me spitballing.

I'm currently only using MTT as a foundation for these two in terms to overarching themes. Once I renew the UF MTT design I'll come back to explaining this.

KEEP IN MIND, SOME OF THIS COULD CHANGE. THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE ANALYSIS, CONSIDER THIS A FIRST DRAFT. GO EASY ON ME!!!!!

SPAMTON

Spamton is harder to get a grasp on purely because of not knowing what his overarching role is in Deltarune.

Anyway, I picture Spamton as some "cleaned up" Conman who says he's not the same guy he was before, but really he's just saying that so you'd let your guard down. He acts invested and overly ecstatic to try and earn one's trust, despite having full intention of betraying them to get what he wants. Maybe he uses mirroring as a way to get what he wants too? The odds are in your favor, he's here to help you !!! (YOU SCRATCH HIS BACK HE'LL STAB YOURS!!!)

This song by musician neutrina really helped me figure him out more because of the title itself, WANT WHATCHA NEED? YOU GOTTA JUST TAKE IT.

IMO THAT'S EXACTLY what it is, that line I feel is how DN Spamton would carry himself throughout possibly every era. Also, probably a line he would've said to Tenna during the time they spent together.

Which I think would've put Tenna off at some point.

It goes without saying that Spamton really deep dove into the madness, almost like an addiction. Maybe he thought he was a bit invincible during his big shot era. Really basking in his success.

Also, he definitely lives in his car at the dump. A thank you and Credit to Milkaroos for that genius idea.

TENNA

I want to say instead of being afraid of being abandoned/not liking change like DR Tenna,

DN Tenna’s problem would be more so that maybe he’s a bit apathetic. He’s comfortable with how things are because he worked hard to keep it all together despite losing himself (The Apathy) practically becoming desensitized in a way?

He’s probably not happy, but he’s comfortable. This is what he wanted, right? Type of deal.

He can front like no one's ever fronted before. He's serious, he means business, and You will trust that he's always right.

His thinly veiled anger management issues...(idk where to put this)

I think the deal with him too is that he'd 180 from who he initially was (that being closer to his DR counterpart), which is where the whole "losing oneself" comes from. He'd use tactics he originally didn't want to use or believe in using. But then forced himself to use.

Tactics including the Hypnosis Channel, Subliminal Messages, fearmongering, Twisting the narrative. (JUST LIKE REAL TV, BABY!!!)

I might even go on a whim and say these tactics might be some that Spamton might've brought up to him before their eventual separation.

I believe both Spamton and Tenna influenced each other in different points of their lives..? Tenna rejecting Spamton's initial ideas, but then eventually falling into the same habits/mindset as Spamton in order to stay relevant and "Successful".

THEIR RELATIONSHIP (A HEAVY WIP)

I think here it would be more prominent, I’m trying to mirror Underfell’s Alphyne already dating and getting engaged at the end of the trust/closure routes. IN A WAY. So bear with me.

One of those - they kind of know they’re together, but don’t really outright make it “official” deals. At first, it definitely was just business, Tenna wanting to know his secret, Spamton riding off of Tenna's already present significance and stardom. One thing led to another etc etc etc. CLOSE, but not TOO close. Definitely no I love You's being said here. Maybe one of them thought about it? Who knows.

All I've gathered so far is that the two were definitely a bit closer than their DR counterparts here.

AT SOME POINT, Spamton becomes more and more addicted to the madness.

Tenna definitely witnesses him going off the deep end in real time, it gets to a point where Tenna tries to break off their "Private Business" aka their unspoken relationship, thinking that maybe that would give him a reality check. Obviously it doesn't.

They both convinced themselves it wasn't anything special.

I want to say after Tenna broke it off, they both revert to pursuing their initial goals. Trying to get secrets, life advice, bigger from each other. It's a little messy, idk.

Instead of Tenna sweet-talking Spamton to let him in on his secret, Tenna would've probably given him an ultimatum? Another shot? I'm still figuring this out, but Spamton would still leave. Without a word.

Which forces Tenna into a last resort, using the hypnosis channel on Asgore to get better signal. (The new Rabbit Ears) Which is where his whole 180 would come in.

Random: Instead of "tropic of love" island for Defernull I think there'd be something called "LAST RESORT" because that's basically what Tenna would've come to, a last resort. Lawl.

Annnyywayyy That's ALL I got so far, my word vomit.

THIS IS NOT ALL OF MY THOUGHTS.. THERE IS SOOOO MUCH MORE...THIS IS JUST ENOUGH TO AT LEAST GET A BALL ROLLING.

I TRULY HOPE THIS MAKES SOME KIND OF SENSE.

I haven't been able to draw them before this, but with the name possibly being confirmed to be ERAM because of Toby Fox apparently retweeting posts that used the name (as well as it also being the name of the theme that plays when they're speaking before BURNING EYES begins), I made my first Fanart of them based on what I was able to interpret from their in-game-in-game sprites!

I'm also participating as part of the 10th Anniversary celebration of UNDERTALE, and the memories that we all have of it!

I'll also show the process and the Avatar itself as it's something you're able to download separately, although I did make Concept Art for how the Talksprite should look, with both it and the displayed Avatar being shown underneath.

Now that a little time has passed, I thought I'd talk about my work on Deltarune Chapters 3 & 4!

While Chapter 2 released in September of 2021, I actually started work on Chapter 3 a couple months before. My main responsibility for 3 was Mr. Tenna's Marvelous Mystery Board. We did a lot of iteration before landing on having full control over the player and being able to explore all of the Desert Board and Kodakoda Island. Making a game within a game with characters in the game above that game talking to each other and reacting and controlling their players was a hell of a challenge, but I think we pulled it off. I wonder what the world record for the Lawnmower game is.

I was also responsible for a bunch of the Teevie World overworld sections, one of my favorite being the stealth section where you make inadvertantly make friends, and also get to meet Goulden Son. I'm so glad Toby decided moving slow sucked, it made the stealth more of a rhythmic running section than a plodding Metal Gear segment.

For Chapter 4 I was primarily responsible for the first and second versions of the dark world, and some of the third. After all the wild stuff we did in 3, it was a joy to climb back into the comforting arms of making Deltarune's overworld sections. I learned a lot while working on it, improving my workflow and finding new ways to make cool stuff. The Chapter 4 dark world also got a lot of iteration, making sure it was fun to explore and well-paced. I think we all nailed it.

The last four years have been a lot. I lost both of my parents, we came out of a pandemic, and the internet has become an even more divisive and miserable place. I'm so thankful that during these difficult years I've gotten the opportunity to contribute to something that has brought so many people so much joy, and I look forward to spending more time doing the same.

There's likely to be another shortage of public updates starting soon because a lot is currently being worked on at the same time for some of this AU's most important characters from now until 2026 (though there will be one reveal that should've already been done (but was accidentally missed because of the 2nd Anniversary NEWSLETTER being too close to the national holiday itself) and one that's much more important that should both happen before the new year), where afterwards there will be a shift into focusing on the stories to tell in the world of SwilTaett, which may even make you think twice about some Cast Members.

But for now, have a small piece of recently-written ACT 7 dialogue from the SwilTaett Script which I hope will SPARK enough joy to pass the time before it feels like were taking too long, although the wait should hopefully be worth it if you can March through it!

Though this is likely to only ever be a Style Test/Recreation, but I remade some of Trendsetter STUDIOs most well-known faces in the in-game-in-game style that's seen throughout a lot of Deltarune Chapter 3!

Excell was meant to be included, but his design wasn't able to fit this style whilst still being coherent.

A Caring Clownie Coincidence has Occured!

The first is a frame from a short SwilTaett Expression Test Animation from January 24th of 2025, featuring Merrie taking a series of selfies as a way to transition between each new face, as well as first starting as Mimi to show a series ranging from sad to happy.

The second is the thumbnail of a 2:24:53 long YouTube stream from a VRChat Streamer known as 'Neither' or 'Neither_Vr' that finished streaming two hours ago at the time of writing and hopefully posting this.

I hadn't heard of Neither/Neither_Vr until this specific VOD appeared in my recommended. None of this is based in any claims of copying, I just thought that this was a really fun and interesting coincidence (with even more beyond the poses near-matching like how Merrie's Chalkboard and Neither_Vr's Framed Picture are also on similar areas of their respective walls) and I'm now considering looking into Neither_Vr's content further as a result of this!

Perhaps a prize for this weird lookalike lollygagging is in order, but alas, I only have two nickels...

Although this day is important to many and should've had a better reveal explaining why that's still the case, scheduling issues and planned future reveals for later in the year made that not possible, so the next best thing is to be free about finally being able to create a Visual Version of Merrie's oldest ideas: the cause of her short stature!

This version of her was meant to look as huggable as possible, which is what caused her to be characterised as such an affectionate StoriSOUL in both the SwilTaett Script and Grimpula's Backstory.

The specific shape of Merrie's body actually comes from something very similar to the Chara Plush shown below, with the look that Merrie eventually uses in her current version coming from how her Overworld Sprite made her much more square-shaped, and how that became easier to draw and keep consistent.

The words of the newest NEWSLETTER are finally happening in regards to the non-story impacts of Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4, with this being the first of an undecided number of ideas!

Matamoor's example was made to show a change in demeanor, switching from the bombastic showman to a softer, whispering tone.

Whereas Glagga's was made to explain the meanings of the three faces seen in her design (despite there not currently being plans for her to have dialogue because of earlier ideas being way too similar to either D.Daess, Helpress or Merrie). This was also done to demonstrate her Autocomplete inspiration as part of the Troop Troupe, where the tone of each Autocomplete suggestion would change depending on whether it's an angered RED, a joyous YELLOW or a saddened BLUE!
