How the fuck do people feel comfortable using AI to write whole fanfics, I feel like I’m cheating by using the rewrite suggestions on word.

New templates, new templates!
If you’re knee-deep in chapter 83 and your characters haven’t even locked eyes yet (we salute your dedication)—or staring down a fix-it fic with dangerously high emotional stakes—we’ve got some templates to help you plan and transform the stories you love.
Find three new templates in Ellipsus (just choose from template when you start a new doc).
The Canon Divergence Template—break the timeline, rewrite the rules, and give your faves the ending they deserve. The Fandom Ship Template—map your ship’s emotional arc, from first emotionally repressed gaze to cathartic confession. The AU Planning Template—modernize, magicalize, or make em rival antique shop owners (you know you want to).
Read the full post over on the blog, and may your slow burns always pay off.

Look at how upbeat Light appears to be just after he gets validation from L lmao:
Tumblr media
Light: *provides an essay to prove that his deduction skills are in fact excellent*
L: correct
Light: :DD I'm right, you say? Just like that? :DDD (*actually beaming with a wide grin can y'all believe it?! :)
[Light probably:
"This is great. I’m going to get a good grade in flirting via deductive reasoning, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve"]
...and when L is flippant about it, Light deflates a little- Oh Light, my poor little meow meow XD

Light Yagami is an INFP. When he manipulates he tries to capture the emotional essence of a person and morphs into whatever can score him the best brownie points. He appeals to sympathy instead of using cold hard facts to prove his innocence because that’s what’s relatable to him. His best plans involve manipulation or has a week’s long time span to be executed because he can’t actually plan that well beyond that. That is why he could more or less outmaneuver Ray Penber but had no long term strategies to ensure Kira’s reign was successful and efficient. He reacts instead of acts; he’s perpetually the mouse in the cat-and-mouse game. Instead of making safeguards to protect himself in case of future threats, he doubled down on denialism and living in a fantasy. Classic INFP self-sabotage. Even in the Yotsuba arc, his master plan was that he was chosen and had willpower. That’s not xNTJ intellectualism to me, baby. He ruminated on how “rotten” the world was even before he got the note, meaning he looked at it in very emotional terms. Not “inefficient”, not “generally unsympathetic”, just an ambiguous “rotten”.
/s kinda but not really at the same time. Like, I don’t know enough about MBTI theory to say anything and this is for fun but how on Earth is he a THINKER when he literally feels his way through situations and only actually responds enthusiastically if he has to prove something?

I sometimes wonder about the design choices which led to Kaiba, Light and Lelouch because while the latter two may be inspired by the first, it’s crazy to me that nearly everything about them is the same. From the hair (roughly same colour, shape and length), to the skin tone (tan to pale in different lightings) to the physique (tall and lean, not bulky) to the wardrobe (somewhat regal and always proper), they literally look like the same character in different fonts.
It’s kind of funny to me but it makes complete sense given the archetype. You want someone to look smart and grounded (so the hair should be a darker tone, black or brown. However, black hair is much more common so to make them “unique” among the others, brown is a better choice), they should seem cerebral (make them tower above other and not be overly muscular) and they should be intimidating (angular, refined features, high cheekbones, longer nose) and ta-da! You get the smart brunet with burning passion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are only a few comparisons but there is a very big similarity in the way they pose and emote, it’s very cute! It’s amazing they even got it down to the slight hip-lock.

This is kinda dark but Light being a victim of grooming would explain so much of his personality imo.

I feel like my death note and crime and punishment obsession have finally intertwined with each other in a very satisfying way. Light Yagami is so Raskolnikov coded, they would def smirk the same way. Manga Raskolnikov is a murderous pretty boy like Light.

My Lawlight headcanon is that-
L fell first:
Tumblr media
But Light fell harder:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
__________________________________________
Yeah yeah, I'm well aware that the first friend scene was a lie from L's side and a mind game from both sides- BUT look at Light's FACE (and no Light's a good actor but this split second of '...' + transparent eyes is not a performance imho)
He's genuinely stunned (translation: L broke him for a moment there lmao it's like, during that single moment, they're the only ones in the room!) BEFORE he realizes that they are playing a role here in front of the task force. As Ryuga and Light; which is what he tells Ryuk later:
Tumblr media
(His eyes are hidden *clenches fists* Light is emotionally affected and does not want anybody to know that L got him. Again.
Except this time, he feels humiliated in a strange sort of way.
Despite everything, including the whole 'enemies till death do we part' thing they have going on? Light enjoyed his time with L (albeit not without the collateral damage of other people dying but I digress). He DID like playing tennis with Ryuga as he tells him. That part's not a lie! L being a good friend is not true though.
L does not want Light as his friend for real. He's bullshitting as always to catch Light off guard. This isn't new. But it. is. Personal (to Light, at least).
Only it shouldn't be! This is all part of their game, isn't it? Then why does Light feel a bit...disappointed due to it not being real? In an alternate universe, would he have liked truly being L's friend?
No! Of course not, that is a ridiculous line of thought! Additionally, just 2 chapters ago, Light was like:
Tumblr media
Can you see the lawlight and yagamane parallels here? L intends to catch Kira!Light and poses an execution threat to Light while Misa means to date Light and poses some threats of her own:
Tumblr media
Both L and Misa come on too strongly toward Light (one as an enemy and the other as a potential ally). Light merely wants to get rid of them both so as to achieve his keikaku with ease. While dealing with Misa, Light thinks, 'I'll be killing her eventually...I can't develop feelings. That's how most idiots screw up.'
Notice how similar this is when it comes to his dynamic with L as well? He has to kill the latter eventually too and his reaction (to when he's confronted with the fact that Rem *can* kill L at his immediate request before the fiasco of Misa getting arrested happens at least) is this below btw:
Tumblr media
The guy is truly shocked at how easy it seems to kill someone as intelligent as L. Light does not smile or seem amused. He takes this (L's future death) very seriously (I think it's the first time he does this since his first two kills). I believe it's partly due to the begrudging respect he has toward the genius detective and partly because of the 'what-if's in his mind.
His eyes, blown wide, are unreadable except for the astonished look they show. It is a rare display of emotion we see from Light (I can't seem to pinpoint just what the emotion is tho) which is quite noteworthy imho.
________________________________________
...Wow I got carried away.
The point is! Light feels a little humiliated for letting his emotions get the better of him even if it was for just an instant during which he was gobsmacked by L's lie which he wished for it to be true.
Light can rationalize it all he wants but deep down, in his heart, he'd always know that there was a period of time (however small) that he not only fell for L's lie, but also secretly under LAYERS of repression actually just wanted to live in that world- the world where there was neither L nor Kira, just Ryuga and his friend Light.
That's wishful thinking and boy would Light hate this if he acknowledged for even a second that yes, he does want that.)
Again. Light 'Developing Feelings = Idiotic Screw ups' Yagami cannot afford to deceive himself that L, on some level, wants to befriend him as that may as well cost his life if he did. He cannot get distracted as that was most definitely one of L's intentions of calling him his 'first friend'.
He'll dutifully play along as he had anticipated it a while ago:
Tumblr media
"I like this, Ryuga. If you want to be friends with me. I'll gladly hang out with you."
Light sure looks thrilled as hell to be role-playing as L's friend lmao- like he loves mind games, he revels in duplicity, he enjoys challenges that L adds to his life so is it any wonder that the combination of all is *chef's kiss* for Light? He is so so EXCITED to be hanging out with L face-to-face + looks forward to stabbing him in the back!!
Gotta love lawlight! </3 <3

Could you do a detailed comparison of Light and Mikami, specifically in regards to their morals, worldviews, reasons for killing, views on humanity and personality. Thank you!
I drafted this reply with solely the text “hohoho” written as an answer and then took a few day to find a satisfactory way of approaching this, but here we go!If you have a question on how I got to a particular conclusion, feel free to ask! Also thanks go to @ayagami for looking this over for me. So here it is:
Tumblr media
                                     but in very different ways
In HTR13 Ohba states that Mikami’s flashback serves the purpose to introduce Light and Mikami as equals, which makes it immensely interesting to examine these superficially similar people in comparison. Especially as it turns out they are fundamentally different people in the end.
This starts in their upbringing. Light is an upper middle class kid. Soichiro has a very good position within the NPA, they can afford a nice house, Light goes to a private school… We can infer Light has a sheltered and privileged childhood. Nothing in canon implies a break with this idyllic lifestyle.Meanwhile Teru is most definitely raised poor. He is raised by a single mother, who have notoriously bad socioeconomic standing in Japan.
They have vastly different childhood experiences. From a young age on, Light gets reinforced that he is amazing and exceptional. When we meet him in canon, we know he has a history of earning nation-wide titles (two years tennis champions, multiple years academic champion of his year). Light builds up immense self-confidence, which mirrors his actual achievements and other people’s view of him perfectly. Light thinks he’s hot shit, but everyone else thinks so too and there is tangible reason for this belief.
Teru’s childhood is a story of growing social ostracization meanwhile. I don’t need to retell his backstory chapter, but as we all know Teru goes from someone who could fit in to somebody who can count on nobody and relate to nobody. Teru also thinks he’s hot shit, but he is very much alone in that thought.Where Light’s confidence is in line with other people’s opinions, Teru’s sense of self-worth thrives on rejection. ‘You are bad, but I am not like you. I am good.’Light has trouble relating to people because they are below his skill level, Teru (while also being very gifted) has trouble relating to people because he deems them morally wrong and human scum, while they ridicule him and view him as a target. It’s interesting that Light grows up adored and Teru grows up scorned but both of them come out of it with a very high sense of self-worth.
