I really want a DLC where V finds Johnny's body and is able to bring him back and the moment he wakes up he says something affectionately snarky because he's Johnny but if his affinity is high enough V gets the option to just kiss him in response. I don't even need a long drawn out romance because in my opinion their romance has already been established. I just want to see them happy and together and for them to be able to just hold each other for just a moment. 🥺😭

So now, he and Rachel have ducked behind a toilet paper display, watching as Eddie and Venom argue over what to have for dinner. Venom is hanging out on Eddie’s shoulder, which Colin takes as a good sign. He wouldn’t do that if Eddie knew he and Rachel were there…

I think I started to really ship my femshep with Garrus from the line “there’s nobody I respect more than you.” There was something about that, that really struck a chord with me. I spent some time pondering why, and realised that it really breaks classic romance tropes in the most amazing way.

We don’t often think of respect as the first thing that comes to mind when talking about love. Often it’s the personality of the person, or perhaps their appearance, or even just that nice feeling you get being around somebody. And that’s ok too. But respect is actually one of the most important things there should be in any relationship and it never really gets stated. Especially in stories or games etc. So the fact that Garrus leads with saying there is nobody he respects more than Shepard… it’s the fundemantal goal of any healthy partnership. Mutual respect.

And then of course that respect and admiration is what leads to the ability to be vulnerable with Shepard. Which means an awful lot considering the fact he is just working through the trauma of being betrayed by a trusted colleague, and likely friend. So Garrus saying there is nobody else in the entire galaxy he respects more just hits differently. It feels so incredibly genuine compared to things like “you’re the most beautiful person in the world” or “there’s nobody else like you” etc. (which are all completely fine things to say of course). it’s not the most romantic response, but that display of trust, and the fact he genuinely means what he’s saying to her, just feel more powerful.

What I really like about it as well is that Garrus actually follows through with that respect. He is completely behind her 100% of the way providing support, and genuinely believing every step of the way that she can save the galaxy with or without him, because she’s proven she can do it.

I think they are one of my favourite examples of the best friends to lovers trope. They are friends first, have each other’s backs, and that bond just becomes so deep it evolves into something more personal between them. Really phenomenal writing from the BioWare team there.
