some random power info stuff and naijapunk scenerio/fanfic idea I randomly came up with

(A/N: All mentions of HB/Hobie refer to Nifemi’s variant of Hobie on her earth, Earth 1960, not ASTV Hobie. This still counts as an oc x canon to an extent, so if you don’t like, don't read) 

Alright here we go, 

In addition to the basic spiderpowers like wall crawling, webs and spidersense, Nifemi also has this bioluminesence thing that happens when she feels strong emotions. Like her freckles kind of glow and she has this aura thing.

So basically she’s like a human LED light or nightligt of some sort

(On as side note, GUYS DID YOU KNOW SPIDERS ACTUALLY HAVE BIOLUMINESCENE< IT’S SO FREAKING COOL)

The glowing kind of brightens and dims depending on the severity of the emotion

The colors also vary depending on the emotion:

Yellow- Happy

Blue- Sad

Red- Angry/ Annoyed

Pink- Love/Flustered

Whitish- Neutral

This power doesn’t per say, have a specific use in combat, except maybe throwing off suspicions about her identity to a certain extent, ‘cause everyone knows Anansi as a glowy superhero so who’s going to even suspect that drab Nifemi is the same person (see, I’m a genius)

 But in reality  I added it mostly to have the most effect on her civilian life.

As I said earlier in her intro, Nifemi already has problems opening up to people, whether it be in friendships or any sort of relationships. But just because she can’t physically open up to people doesn’t mean that her body can’t give her away in certain aspects.

When she developed this particular power, Bolatito being the queen and tech whiz that she is made her this Light Control Bracelet thing (Imma call it LCB for short), that put a sort of dampner on this power.  

It looks like a metal cuff bracelet and it just goes with the rest of her other bangles and stuff, 'cause she already wears a good amount of those to hide her spinnerets [organic webbing and such]

She wears it in public so she doesn’t turn into a human nightlight at every slight provocation and like expose her secret identity and what not.

Downside to the bracelet is that Nifemi can only wear it in like 5 hour spans and needs alike a 15-20 minute break in between so she doesn’t “burn up” per say. Basically like a cooling down process.

She wears it mostly at uni, at hangouts and anywhere in public

She doesn’t wear it while she’s out as Anansi or when she’s alone in apartment, or only with Bolatio, ‘cause, only wears it when it’s necessary.

In addition to this power turning her into a lightbulb, the aura she gives of also literally “burns” her calories, so this girl has a CrAzy metabolism

(Fun Fact: This is based of my own crazy metabolism)

So she’s basically a slightly less intense version of Barry Allen.

And as a result:

Ms Girl. Cannot. Get. Drunk.

Earning her the role of designated caretaker at all bar and club related hangouts

Meanwhile Bolatito (16) and Hobie (18) are drinking buddies

Constantly going out and dragging Nifemi (18) and Miles (17) along most times, mostly Nifemi though, ‘cause Miles some how finds a way get out of such matters and also, to me, he just doesn’t seem like the bar-type hangout person.

Nifemi on the other hand, literally has no choice.

If Bolatito is like “Get up we’re going out” Nifemi is like, “Ughh, fine”

Plus, if Hobie is going to be there, who is this love-struck idiot to refuse such and opportunity.

Anyways,

Bolatito gets loud and stupid when she’s drunk

Screaming, babbling mess. Flirting with Miles at every moment (even more so than usual). Laughing one second then crying the next. Bi-polar little thing [mid weight]

HB however get’s like mellow and quiet when he’s drunk [heavy weight]

Quiet groaning, not saying much, slurring his words, clingy mess.

Also no mental filter on this man when he’s this state

Like, he’s saying the first thing that comes to mind, no thinking

So,

This man will flirt with Nifemi when he’s drunk making her so flustered

BUT HE WON’T REMEMEBER WHAT HE DID WHEN HE’S SOBER!!!

Okay, back to Nifemi’s power and it’s “effects”

Before Hobie found out that Nifemi was Anansi, she always wore the LCB around him, even on one on one hangouts

B/c if she didn’t she’ll turn into a glowing pink lightbulb everytime this man talked because as I mentioned in my ‘Timeline of Love 1960’ post, his voice.

However,

There was one time that she didn’t wear the bracelet

(Luckily HB didn’t remember the full incident but-)

Basically:

- This was before she and HB officially got together

- They were both in that awkward friend phase, with Nifemi being to emotionally constipated to confess and HB liking her and unknowingly making this girl flustered

- While Techflower (Bolatito and Miles) is on the sidelines, eating popcorn and watching this trainwreck

- So Nifemi, Hobie, and Bolatio had gone to this Nigerian pub/club thing to just, hang out

- More accurately, Nifemi had been dragged out by the other two to go socialize in society

- At the club, HB and Bolatio being the buds that they are of course get stupid drunk

- While Nifemi, b/c of her light power thing, cannot get even mildly intoxicated (poor baby)

- So before HB and Bolatito do something that they would regret for the rest of their lives, she decides to be a good friend/sister and get them back home safely

- She also has to get home ‘cause before this she had been wearing the LCB already so she was like 45 minutes away from 'burn up time’

- She also makes the decision that it’ll be smarter to take both of them back to her apartment instead of dropping HB back at his place, so it’ll be easier to keep an eye on them and deal with their hangovers in the morning

(A…tiny mistake on her part)

- So she bundles up the two mess, pays the bill and gets them out of there

She has that spider strength, so it’s like no problem wrangling them back to her place

- By the time they get back to her apartment, Nifemi has like 15 minutes left on her bracelet timer, so she removes it, keeps it on its special dish next to her uni ID and decides to take care of the two idiots (lovingly)

- She carries Bolatito, who is passed out, to her room, tucks her in and then goes back for Hobie

- HB at first glance also seems knocked out cold, so Nifemi’s like,

‘Alright, this’ll be easy’

- And just picks him up as well

- Keep in mind that Nifemi’s like 5’6, 5’7, no noticeable muscle, probably would get winded climbing up the stairs if not for her powers

- And Hobie’s like a 6’3 lanky but at the same time heavy man

- So I guess he’s not like used to the feeling of being carried, so the movement kind of like jostles him awake

“You’re pretty strong luv”

- AARGHH, his accent, one of my baby’s only weaknesses

- So in Nifemi her classic Nifemi fashion, is like:

“Oh really, um-okay, I-I uh d-didn’t notice, that’s uh something-” 

- stammering, pathetic mess (oh I love her so much)

- HB just snickers at her response, closes his eyes again and presses himself closer into her, mummering slightly:

“You’re cute when ya all flustered”

Nifemi.exe is shutting down

- Nifemi is done. Finished. Over with. KO-ed

- This man don knock this girl speechless

- And her body gives her away by, you guessed it, glowing

- She was now cosplaying a glowing pink nightlight on it’s highest setting

- She, of course, panics

- Drops HB, who is once again passed out, in the guestroom and hightails it out of there

- Timeskip to the next day, HB can’t remember anything that happened in the midst of his hangover

- Except

- Some glowing pink light that his brain subconsciously links to Nifemi

- And he now has the urge to call Nifemi ‘nightlight’, which he does consistently

“Hey nightlight”

“Wha..”

Timeline of Love 1960

(Alternate title: Me hyperfixtating on the method and time that Nifemi and HB 1960 [her Earth's variant of Hobie Brown] got together)

Small A/N: This is not Hobie from ATSV but a variant of him, from Earth-1960, my spidersona, Nifemi’s Earth, so he might be a bit OC in a few areas. But I take creative liberty in that. This can also count as an ocxcanon to an extent, if you do not like, do not read.

HB 1960 is a British foreign exchange student, that for some reason decided to move to Nigeria to finish up his studies and whatnot (I’ll clean this up later) 

Of course considence, considence Hobie ends up in the same uni as Nifemi

(Quick Nigerian schooling breakdown/ I’ll do a more in depth one later 😙)

Primary School- Reception [3-4 years old] to Year 6 [10 years old]

Secondary School- JS1 [11 years old] - SS3 [16 years old]

University [17 to about 21 depending on your course]

Now, now, Nifemi isn’t the type to fall for looks immediately

She feels like that’s kind of superficial 

I mean, she’ll look at someone and think ‘oh they’re cute’ but it’s more of a passing glance thing, you know

So you know how HB gets her?

His accent. 

Lawd have mercy, this man’s barely understandable thickk Cockney accent has this girl faster on the floor than you can even process.

I’m talking, she fell in love with his voice before she even got a good look at his face

Basically what happened:

Lecturer: Class, we have a new student joining us today”

HB: ‘Ello bruvs

Nifemi: *down bad speechless before this man even uttered his name*

(I can honestly go on a 3k worded rant about just how fine I think Hobie Brown’s accent is but *sigh* sadly, that shall be for another time)

And Nifemi wasn’t the only one who fell for HB

In my opinion, HB seems like that one guy that every girl in school knows about, and has a crush on, but this man, this rat-bastard of a man, is so fucking oblivious to every advance towards him

I’m talking Adrien Agreste level of obliviousness

Like a random girl would come up to him and flirt with him, but it’s like this guy doesn’t know what flirting is

Meanwhile Nifemi is down bad for this guy

I’m talking staring at this man, lovesick, thinking about this boy, down bad.

HB catches her staring a few times and just finds it kind of silly

“You good luv?” 

*nervous nod*

“A'ight”

Miss girl is actually pathetic (I love her so much)

Due to a series of paired group projects and whatnot, they eventually become friends and start hanging out.

Nifemi introduces HB to Bolatito (her little sister) and Miles 1960 (Miles variant and Bolatito’s boyfriend) and the 4 of them become a kind of like quartet. (Boom, friendgroup)

Bolatito, of course, IMMEDIATELY knows that Nifemi has a crush on Hobie:

“Look at you.”

“Biko, free me”

“You liiike him”

“I do not-” 

“Hey luvs”

“...”

“Ehen. you were saying?”

HB and Bolatito form this kind of big bro and annoying little sister relationship, so basically Bolatito has already accepted him as part of the family in a way (I’ll explore this further later)

And with the law of association, Hobie and Miles of course become bros (Big bro, Lil’ bro in every universe)

So Bolatito just teases Nifemi and HB continues to remain oblivious to everything

That is until:

HB starts to also have a crush on her.

He just finds her adorable

She gets flustered when he talks to her, like she’s a nervous mess b/c remember this girl is with him for his voice. (LAWD HAVE MERCY HIS VOICE, ARRRGGGHHH *actually on my knees right now*)

Plus despite her being closed off in certain areas

she’s sweet and nice and helpful

But she also takes absolutely no nonsense

No, like she would actually start to rage if you piss her off too much or you’re just being a jerk or a bully

In fact, his crush on her soldified when he saw her cursing the absolute shit out of one of those classic uni idiots

Also without realizing it, Nifemi switches to Yoruba when she gets strong emotions, so basically picture this:

We have Hobie that the only time talks to Nifemi she’s sweet and nice and flustered as hell

And now he sees the same girl cursing the shit out of someone in a language he doesn’t even understand

And girly is going off on this guy

“Oloshi,  ṣebe you don’t have sense? Mama no born nothing inside that your head, oloriburuku. S'onsiere ni? Ko ni da fun e…”

Girl is bringing out everything in the book and HB is just like: 😳

My man’s down BAAAD

And so Nifemi and Hobie enter the awkward friend phase

With HB liking her and is unknowingly making this girl so flustered, while still being so fucking oblivious and not realizing that she likes him back

And with Nifemi being too shy and emotionally constipated to actually confess, with the mindset of “Why the hell would he even like me back?”, so just continuing to be a flustered mess around him

And Bolatito and Miles just being lovey dovey in the background and lovingly sharing a bucket of popcorn while watching this trainwreck.

That’s where Bolatito comes in

Girlypop is the wingwoman of wingwomen doing all the classic annoying sister shit:

-Making excuses for all of them to hangout

-Inviting Miles over for “double dates”

-Techflower conveniently “disapperaring” at random times leaving the two oblivious idjits alone

-Bolatito and Miles are basically the Alya and Nino of this universe with Nifemi and HB being Marinette and Adrien.

This continues until finally, finally, HB and Nifemi get the hint and finally get together.

And then 4 of them are all a happy, lovey-dovey friend group

Well, at least until Nifemi’s canon event

Nifemi Lore and Stuff

Nifemi is a character who I tried to put layers into, while basing some aspects of her personality on myself. But while not only is it hard trying to breakdown yourself down into a character, my brain is also too messy to form proper lore before jumping straight into trauma parts, which I hyperfixtated on at some point. Seeing as this is my first time actually posting proper stuff about her and most of you might be like ‘Who the hell is even Nifemi?’, I’m gonna post a small background and info-dump on her lore a bit. (I also just need some type of  outlet for all of this, it’s one am I want to sleep, she takes up my every waking thought)

Backstory and Personality Study

Nifemi hails from Earth 1960, and she was born in South Africa, though being raised in her spiderman city, Laghattan, New Lagos City, Nigeria (A mashup of Lagos and New York), where she lived  and grew up. 

She and her sister, Bolatito, were both orphaned at about 4 and 2 years old respectively, when their parents died in a plane crash, and moved in with their Uncle Benedict ‘Ben’ Parker and Aunt Mayowa ‘May’ Parker. 

They owned a small family based resturant that brought in most of the family’s income and simultaneously ignited Nifemi’s love for cooking.

At 13 on a field trip to Oscorp Industries, she got lost from her class and got bitten by a radioactive spider and after her Uncle Ben’s death, took up the mantle of spiderwoman, or as she and her city call her, Anansi.

About a year of being Anasi later, Nifemi’s sister, Bolatito finds out about her identity and claims the role of ‘the gal in the chair, making gadgets, walkie talkies the whole thing.

When Nifemi was about 15, she met Miles 1960 (her Earth’s variant of Miles Morales) who she developed a strong friendship with as they bonded over their love for art and stuff. (Big sis, Little bro relationship)

Nifemi soon introduces Bolatito to Miles, the three of them becoming a trio with Miles and Bolatito becoming a couple at some point (Techflower)

Timeskip, blah, blah, blah, Nifemi meets Hobie at uni, develops a crush on him and him vice-versa and they both also end up together (I’ll explain the timeline more in depth later, I’m too lazy and tired to do that right now)

Anways,

Throughout her journey as Anansi, Nifemi’s canon events of losing her loved ones had a lasting impact on her personal self, both as Anansi and as her civilian self.

Nifemi and her Uncle Ben were extremely close, she growing to even see him as a sort of father figure as she barely had any memories of her real parents, which is why his death as her canon event, (though she didn’t know what canon events were at the time) had such a lasting impact on her, making her unknowingly more emotionally closed off than she would have been as a normal teenager. Her already naturally shy and introverted personality also didn’t help matters to an extent.

Due to this, even though she eventually opened up as she grew older and met HB 1960 (her earth’s variant of Hobie Brown), her second ‘loss of a loved one’ canon event of losing him (since he’s kind of her Gwen Stacy, love intrest thing), completely shattered her and set her down a dark slope of her being afraid getting close or forming any sort of relationship with people, as now 2 of her greatest love ones are dead because, in her mind, her.

As a person Nifemi is a laid back person to an extent, just moving with life but still trying to be successful. She tries to have an easy-going attitude with life but might appear to be closed off and moody to others at times. She honestly doesn’t try or mean to seem that way but has problems socializing or even opening up with people. Despite her attitude however, she does have a pretty steady friendgroup and realistic approach with life, keeping the few friends and loved ones she has close, which is why the loss of them usually has a bigger and lasting impact on her.

Nifemi sees her identity of being Anansi to be seperate yet at the same time the same with her civilain life, constantly mking connections yet still try to keep them from overlapping with each other. While, yes, she follows her Uncle Ben’s advice of “With great power comes great responsibility” and the added mindset of “If I don’t do it, who will?”, at the same time she still wonders if she should just stop trying. The fact that her city, still has their doubts about her, despite her constantly saving them, still seeing her as a demon, due to her powers and their superstitions, also doesn’t help matters and keeps the thoughts coming.

However despite all of this, Nifemi still keeps trying and persevering, using her friends and famiy as a sort of motivation to keep going, in a sense her motto kind of being, “Even if you don’t want to, do it for them”

So we’re moots on TikTok and I drew some stuff for Jia, but I’m not really big, so you might not remember me.

I’ve been on the jipunk train since it ever left the station and I just want to start off by saying, I am freaking OBSESSED with them

I mean the story, the headcannons, the ART

EVERYTHING IS SO ARGHRGHHRG

I just started really working on my own ocxcanon ship between my spidersona, Nifemi and Hobie (well her HB variant from her earth) and I was wondering whether I could use a few of your head cannons while writing their story?

I mean I just listened to seasons by wave to earth and it was so freaking good and it really captures their dynamic and what I’m going for, but it looks kind of similar to jipunk and I don’t want to feel like I’m copying you maybe?
