Scent of Time (2023)
Scrolling thru hbo this holiday season brought my attention to Scent of Time, a Chinese historical drama. I was completely invested from the first minute. And yes, I fully recommend this one.
Especially because the main girlie is a villain named Qian (ʘᴗʘ✿)
It's a drama about a lady who gained a chance to change the course of past events which got her entire family killed. In her final moments, she wishes for another start and that's how it all begins again.
I was thrilled the whole time throughout the series, I enjoyed the FL's character greatly, including her entire look. She is absolutely stunning in every single episode.
As Qian relives moments of her life, she leaves behind her selfishness, conceit, greediness, and chooses a path of virtue. No longer blinded by infatuation for her (now) husband, she's ready to set the record straight once and for all. Her family is alive and well again, everything's just as it was before they were accused of the great fraud. Her bestie's dad is also alive and well, although he's about to live a couple of years in exile.
I enjoyed the show way more than I thought I would. Hua Rongzhou contributed to that a lot, as well as Qian's aversion to practically all men in her life, all but Rongzhou. She treats him like a baby brother. And pinches and bites his cutsie cheeks.
I'm actually happy with how they wrote these two. And how in the end (major spoiler alert!) she ends up in some random village, rebuilding her life, living peacefully and well protected by sweet Rongzhou, reading her books and resting on the rocking bench. The villagers like her, she makes friends, washes her laundry in a stream, Rongzhou is always there to help, the lantern festival is near and all is absolutely fine as she's writing down her wish and letting it float down the river...
Now, I don't know who thought hiding the truth of Qian's state would be smart. Telling us the real situation at the beginning would make the series even more enjoyable, at least for me. Learning that it isn't a magic show, and literally at the last minute, turned out to be the biggest disappointment because it made the wrap up seem sloppy and rushed, as if their budget was suddenly cut off and they had to finish right there in that moment.
I wouldn't mind the ending so much had they executed it more skillfully, because the whole idea is actually quite nice.

Grimm S05E07 Juliette's alive yay QUEEN<3 but also...what is this show turning into
Juliette has just saved everyone's butts and they're all acting like she's the main villain of the story. Wow. Rosalie's reaction when Monroe told her Juliette saved them was ...insane. Tbh, if some enraged creature saved the love of my life and all of our friends too, surely I wouldn't react in a "why is this abomination of a person still alive, if she could kill all those enemies, who knows what she's capable of". Would anyone react in that way??
And don't let me start about that slimy kiss Adalind and Nick shared, while "bonding" over their trauma. ????what was that brother UGHHH
Nick couldn't sink any lower. But I do read spoilers online and I guess these two slimy backs really do deserve each other. And apparently the fandom is all for Adalind's redemption and painting her into a saint all because of the big happy family image. And the fact that she sold and sacrificed her first unborn child only to turn back into a hexenbiest is so in line with the character but hey let's just forget that shall we. And then suddenly changing her mind and being all "loves her child more than anything", despite being a hexenbiest (???), just to let go of being a wesen in her second pregnancy????? I'm so done.
#the show is so bad omg....#complete wasted potential#like they really didn't know what to do with juliette or any other characters at that point#nbc grimm

Watching Grimm (S01 - S05E02) for the first time (and I'm way behind on this one ik ik)
I'm seriously annoyed by injustice they've done to Juliette. It was evident right from the start that Nick and she aren't a good match but blaming it all on her is just a bunch of crap.
The show is ancient now, I get it, and some of the dialogues would definitely not get a pass this decade. Like that pre-hexenbiest lamp talk where she made Nick throw the lamp away even though he had to eat a worm to win it, so it was basically a trophy, not just a random lamp from a trip.
Anyhow, Juliette was always the woman next to Nick, she was kinda eating him for breakfast. Actually, what made me write this little post is the fact I'm pretty confused by all the hate she's getting from the fandom (and from the narrative as well). It's as if people forgot she was by Nick's side all the freakin time. She went thru hell, in the most literal sense, all thanks to her boyfriend Nick who was so selfish to simply let her go in time, even though he was given chance after a chance to just let her go. He was determined in exposing her to danger repeatedly.. That's love?
Also, not only was her memory wiped out, not only was her life ruined because of Nick's dearest Adalind (who killed his aunt btw, the only family he thought he had at that point, but fandom apparently suffered amnesia so this one doesn't count), not only was she infected by some magic crap which made her fall for another random guy, but she worked sooooo hard to get her memory back just because Nick told her they were oh so in love, she did everything to get her life back in order, even though, AGAIN, her life would be 1000x better without Nick or any memories of him. She stood by him every chance possible, she was the grounded one, high achiever, the one who deserve the world and she definitely deserved a spouse who's much more competent than her bf.
Ngl, I was hoping they'd end up together. What a chemistry they had!! It was almost magical lol
Nick was repeatedly choosing to suck her back into his awful world. But the biggest highlight of it all is our mighty powerful Grimm getting another woman pregnant, while that other woman pretended she's Juliette during their intercourse. And not only that but once he found that out, he decided to protect her with all his power AND put her before Juliette, who turned into a hexenbiest thanks to all the crap that other woman did.
Excuse. Me????????
He hang out Juliette to dry, all under pretence of caring for her. That's the only way to put it. And her dear friends gave up on her in a second. But they were never her true friends, they were only Nick's friends and that's it. Nick and the crew™ sided up with Adalind as soon as all of them found out Adalind's preggo and Juliette's a hexenbiest. And once Nick declared Juliette's death everyone was so relieved. Ugh I'm disgusted by these guys. I really hope Juliette is not in fact dead and she'd get her revenge eventually.
#not kdrama#nbc grimm#ik grimm community will burn me alive for this one#in the beginning i didnt like her at all but after all the sht she's been thru im so done with everyone else#shes literally the only one i can stand in that show#even rosalie and monroe are disappointing#i mean come on rosalie#babysitting adalind ??? after everything???#imsailorpluto

Guess who watched a random korean movie on a random TV channel and then couldn't fall asleep to the point of regret? 🙋🏻♀️
So, I watched Parasite (2019.)
And honestly, I don't have a stomach for those kind of movies anymore. Personal preferences aside, the movie is really good. Actually, it's probably one of the better movies I've watched lately, regarding the quality of making. It depicts reality of social stratum in a straightforward way.
Parasite pushes viewers to sympathise with the poor but extremely intelligent "rat family", and feel repulsion for the privileged but not so (let's say) talented "boss family".
It's dark, very dark, and very artistic, and full of metaphors, so simple, yet so powerful in its delivery. Now I wouldn't go into any analysis of the movie, I'll just say it wasn't pretty. Ugly but brilliant.
Would I recommend it? Yes! Absolutely! Just pick a time when you're feeling ready for somewhat emotionally difficult watch. There are scenes of murder, starvation, flood, and so...
This smarty pants watched it alone very late at night. It's pretty anxiety-inducing so for those of you who'd like to escape the feeling, I'd say better skip this one.

Something I started reading months ago when I couldn't unlock some other webcomic episodes was Act Like You Love Me! and it's been a light and fun read so far.

Here, this intro says all necessary. At the moment I'm on S02E89 and one of the good things is, you don't need a daily pass or coins to binge as much as you want.
Oh and another important thing, it's a cohabitation type of story, so for those of you who enjoy such plots, this is definitely for you! And honestly, I don't even remember most of the plot, because I've been reading several comics at the time and, well, we all know how that goes... (๑•﹏•)
But let me just say, main characters do eventually fall for each other. And there's a second guy, of course. There's always a second guy.
Let me know if you've read this and how you liked it, or if you plan to read it ^^
#act like you love me!#webtoons#webcomic#manhwa#webtoon recommendation#i'm not in the mood to watch kdrama at all#idk what's up with that#like i have absolutely no interest in it#started my demon and it's been so boring ... i can't#now it's either anime or webtoons or some manga now and then#and it makes me sad because so many people are enjoying kdrama and im just#why can't i enjoy it with all of you too 😭

Marry My Husband spin-off is so cute and satisfying. The whole webtoon was so enjoyable. Now I'm actually considering watching a drama too. Should I?

Marry My Husband is so good, I can't even find a single thing that I dislike about it (except for the daily pass, but that's a whole other subject). Basically, it's supposed to be a romance and it is to some level, but the romantic storyline is kind of mild, which I really really enjoyed. So if you want to read it for the lovey-dovey content, skip this one. The main character, Jiwon, is trying to get things right the entire time and make it work since she got another chance in life, fighting the vile people who did her and the people she cares about so much harm. That's the main focus of the entire story. Some characters even end up dead and some behind the bars. It's leaning towards a crimi-comic pretty hard. What surprised me is how the author portrayed the mean characters as never changing, going for extremes to accomplish their intentions. And sometimes, it really is like that irl too, people just don't know when enough is enough, digging a deeper hole with each passing day. Well, I won't reveal too much, there's a drama under the same name that's trending these days all over kdrama sites and I've seen some GIFs around here too. And as much as I like them, I think I'll be skipping the drama as I want to avoid disappointment after fully enjoying the web comic from beginning to end.
Before I forget, there are even a few spin-off episodes, which I still haven't read, but I couldn't wait any longer to type-type-type this tiny update.
Ps. Hope you're all having a peaceful weekend. Today, I finally gathered some willpower to take down the Christmas decorations. I enjoyed all the glitter and warm lights sooo much, haha, it was an instant mood-booster in the evenings. Well, now I can't wait for spring. I'm glad the day light is starting to get longer, finally ^^
Till next time,
Sailor Pluto
xx
