The Doctor’s regeneration has made me think of something. The 15th Doctor is by far one of the most emotionally mature and regulated regenerations (at the very least in relation to his own emotions), allowing himself to cry in the face of upsetting situations, outwardly express himself in all manners of ways that fit him, and have a strong understanding of his own problems and that of his own past selves. Through his seasons, he has learnt to love himself far more than most of the previous Doctors were ever able to through the this of this growth.

And what better way to represent loving yourself than to take on the very face that loves you more than anyone else in the universe?
