never getting over the way the very second episode where garak appears establishes immediately that julian is an absolute ride or die idiot for this man.

interrupts his commanding officer in a tense meeting with dukat on the basis of garak alluding to something. wakes his commander up at like 3am to request a runabout without even having asked garak why. only pushes back properly exactly once and then immediately goes back to solving whatever puzzles come out of garaks mouth.

absolutely pathetically infatuated to the point of just tossing all higher brain functions in the bin except interpreting riddles.

Thinking fondly of how gay Garak is. Cause like exile who's estranged from his family for things he can't speak about? Being an exile and unacceptable wherever he goes? His father immediately criticising his clothes? The inability to ever live up to his father's standards? Is frequently called "tailor" as a slur for failing to meet masculine standards? The queer-coding of being into traditionally feminine things? The blue makeup? The gay voice and limp-wristed mannerisms? The visceral discomfort of his navigating ziyal's crush?

I saw garak on tv for the first time at 4yo and was captivated by his and bashirs interactions. It showed me something about myself before I was even aware of it

I’d also like to say in the time we studied WWII in school, the history textbooks never mentioned him. I had never heard of the guy until I watched “The Imitation Game” which I 110% recommend you watch if you haven’t.Alan Turing was a blessing to humanity who saved (once again) 14 to 21 million lives, and he is left out of history because he was gay.

And this is just one example?? So many brilliant and heroic people are left out of history because of their race, their gender, their sexuality, their religion, and it’s just because some bigots in positions of influence get to decide what parts of history are remembered.

Hey guys, I know this isn't Star Trek goofs but wanted to share a gofundme for Abdul and his family. There's not much more I can say that people haven't already said. I still can't believe this is happening to people who deserve to survive. To live.

I know the headcanon/actual canon tends to be that Sarek is the hard-ass, hard-to-please parent and Amanda is the nice one, but given how her kids' day-to-day is still so heavily rigid and serious regardless of her little Alice in Wonderland bedtime stories, I also find it very funny to imagine she IS kind but also just like, the Vulcan equivalent of a weaboo

(AKA threw herself headfirst in being as Vulcan-y as a human can be while still being cute, sweet Amanda Grayson)

She has several books on First Contact. Wrote an entire thesis on Vulcan poetry. Has indulged perhaps in certain online literature about certain relations with Vulcans. Knows a *little* too much about specific crewmembers of the first Enterprise. Started wearing Vulcan fashion to work BEFORE she even met Sarek and refused to elaborate.

And either she was smart enough to keep it a little under wraps until she and Sarek married OR he's always known and is into it.

They're both little freaks to me and I love them so much.

Rewatching 'Deep Space Nine' as one does (I've loved that show since I was in middle school and it was still on the air), and lamenting the fact that Rick Berman denied us the glorious moment when, after all of Bashir's friends find out he's been lying to them for five years, keeping a massive secret and never letting any of them truly get close to him, they're all disappointed and upset.

Except Garak. Because Bashir managed to keep a secret from him for FIVE YEARS, and Garak has officially never found him hotter.

Knowing what we do about Cardassians, and about Garak in particular? The fact we didn't get a real moment between them of Garak realizing Julian is the best liar he's ever met and Garak is madly in love with him for it is one of the grandest tragedies of the show.

I love Garak because science fiction needs more effeminate morally dubious fags. It needs more men who break gender roles for fun. It needs more representation of the absolute backbreaking trauma of growing up alone and unloved and trying desperately to fit yourself into a role that will never fit. It needs more repression mixed with love mixed pain.

Let there be sci fi gay men who are complicated and gender fucked and broken and angry and horny and lost and driven.
