a second set of photos more focused on the outside of the cemetary, with people selling the lanterns and stuff. when i was younger people would also sell other things like balloons for kids and candied nuts which we always got when leaving the cemetary. i dont think theres anything traditional to that but it did really embed an association between graveyards and candied nuts innmy head as a kid. they dont sell them much anymore but there were people selling popcorn and oscypki but i didnt get a photo.

a collection of photos i took in and around a cemetary during all souls day, the polish day of the dead celebration. im not a christian by any stretch of the imagination but i did always really enjoy how it looks.

Which program(s) / tools do you use to make your art? Some of it makes me think of a more pixelated version of the stuff people might make on shadertoy, so I was wondering what other tools you might use to create your works
i actually dont touch code at any point of the process! shader toy people are smarter than me. i just use paint.net. the general method is you work your way up from noise, first to create structure within it by scaling it or blurring it or any number of things and then pulling out bits of the created structure using color curves. theres a lot more that goes into it but the style of pattern youre probably thinking i make usimg shadertoy relies on that simple loop of using effects to create detail and then pulling it out. im aware this process would probably be easily automatable (over the course of doing this for years ive developed a bit of a system of notational shorthand for writing down how to make particular patterns that im aware is like. basically an alghorythm just one where i manually push all the buttons to do it) but that makes doing it by hand all the more meditative!
#also the patterns do have a non pixelated form its just like. shits pretty fucking underwhelmimg#its not easy to pull out the structure on a big scale#not art#asks
