All Saints' Day & All Souls' Day in Poland
On 1 and 2 November, Polish necropolises are lit up with the glare of candles, which we light on the graves of our loved ones.

Dobranoc

Visiting graves of my loved ones always makes me so emotional. When my family and I stop at a particular grave, we always take a moment to remember. Some of my family members I don't even remember, or I didn't know at all, because they passed away before I was born. However, they are also my family and I feel connected to them. As a Christian, I believe in the resurrection of the soul and eternal life in Heaven. Our journey on Earth is only a small part of God's plan for us. Everyone has a mission, some help the weak ones get up from their knees, others share a smile with the sad, others carry heavy burdens that hurt their body and soul. Everything has a purpose, according to God.
I keep trying to understand why God takes away people who are important to us. If He is merciful, why does He punish us? Well, my grandmother told me something like this today: "When you go to the garden, you always pick the prettiest flowers." God also wants to have beautiful flowers and good people with him...
and I think it's true.
However, we always miss those we knew well, who lived right next to us, the most. Looking at my grandfather's grave, I remember how we sang songs together when I was younger. He was the one who showed me the power of music. It started with simple songs while we took care of the farm, and then I started playing instruments, starting with wooden flutes. He also went on long bike trips with me. It's been 7 years since he's been gone... and since then... I haven't ridden a bike once... Then I was at my dad's grave for a long time. Everyone always tells me that I am very similar to him, with my look and personality. I owe him many happy memories and I will never be able to thank him enough for how much he taught me. I am my father's daughter and I am so proud of it. It's been a year since he's been gone... we couldn't even say goodbye.
So love your loved ones as much as you can, show them care and support, and be a strong pillar building your love in family.
And never forget...❤️

Pamiętajmy o najbliższych nam ludziach, choć już dawno odeszli, będą w naszej pamięci i sercach 🪦.
Let us remember the people closest to us, even though they are long gone, they will be in our memory and hearts 🪦.

Today we did the last finishing work in my grandma's apartment. Tomorrow we'll hand over the apartment. That was A LOT of work during October and I'm quite proud that we made it, my mom and I were really really sick during the beginning of October. 😵🤧
I have so many feelings about all this, I'm just glad I made it to the graveyard in time today before it closed. I lit a candle for my grandma and my grandpa and I talked to them for a while. I basically bawled my eyes out for 20 minutes straight. I love my grandma so much and I miss her SO bad! 😖 I just really pray that she's happy and so loved now back home with God and her family. ❤🙏🏼
Then I also lit a candle at my father's grave and at our friend's grave. It was beautiful in the clear, friendly night. 🌜🌠
It really helped that I had my Polish course yesterday and our teacher told us so much about the traditions in Poland on the 1st and 2nd of November. 🇵🇱 I really enjoyed that. And I realized, since it is our neighbouring country and I'm hopefully learning the language now more and more, that I may have more success pursuing my path of faith and Christianity by travelling to Poland/ making Polish friends. I so yearn for people to talk to and be around, who have the Christian faith as their foundation and who can teach me more in a good way about Catholicism and how to live in faith. 🙏🏼✝️😊
