I realized a couple weeks ago that GQuuuuuuX is essentially the F91 of the 21st century, and the finale has validated that feeling to me. Both Gundam installments meant to be new & unique entries in the Universal Century which were compacted into formats far too small to accommodate the stories the creators clearly wanted to tell, consequently ending up rushed, often confusing, and generally ineffective in the eyes of most of the viewership. But which I nonetheless find too fundamentally fascinating to actually dislike on a personal level.

One of my friends has been getting really into EPIC: The Musical lately and roped me & some other friends into watching it, and I'm very glad he did since it was a fantastic experience. On the most basic level, the music is just great. Every song bangs and its level of energy was infectious. I wasn't huge on Jorge Rivera-Herrans' singing voice initially, though that more had to do with its very polished sound not matching my mental image of Odysseus than any actual problem with it, but I was able to get on its vibe quite quickly and he turns in a wonderful performance. God Games, Monster, and Would You Fall In Love With Me Again are my favorite songs On the narrative and thematic level, while descents into moral ambiguity, whether the ends justify the means, and the line between man & monster are rather common ideas in my eyes, the musical explored them with a level of sincerity and depth befitting an adaptation of a Greek epic, and the answers the Ithaca saga provides to the thematic questions the rest of the musical posed made for one of the most satisfying conclusions to a piece of media I've engaged with all year. The closest thing to a problem I have with the experience is that I didn't *fully* connect with Athena's character arc, even if I didn't dislike it and still enjoy how it fed into the wider themes & how she paralleled Odysseus, but that's more a nitpick at the end of the day since it didn't even bother me that much overall.
