Where do people typically look for/sell milklim clothes? I’m downsizing my wardrobe and I have some from like a decade ago. Mercari? Depop, eBay, lacemarket? I don’t think anyone uses LJ anymore…

I keep seeing people saying vivinos was “obscure” before the newest alien stage video. like am I crazy her vids are extremely popular and always have been. literally all of her full length videos have over 1 million views each, how is this obscure at all? the extremely short onigiri dance video alone has over 6 million. most independent animators and directors would kill to be “passed over” like this.

coming back to this was so funny because the gacha this person was referring to as their “definite favorite” was literally the incel dicksucker itself limbus company lmao cannot imagine thinking your Not Like Other Gachas game was super progressive and then getting absolutely bodied by fucking genshin impact. embarrassing. I would not be shittalking after that one lil bro

everyone QRTing this with “um actually 🤓☝️ limbus company/arknights/fgo/pgr IS different!” girl open your eyes please. People say these things about all of these games because they like playing them but at the same time feel extremely defensive about the fact that they’re playing gacha. “I know this game is a gacha but it isn’t like other gachas!” It is literally a gacha game. The developers chose this genre of game over literally any other for a reason. If they wanted to make a visual novel/rpg/etc they would have just done that. In their “dead months” these games still make more money than most indie games have ever made. I don’t have a problem with people playing these games knowing what they are, the problem is the point at which a player starts arguing that the game is “not like other gachas!” You can argue these points for any of these games, that’s why the OP edited the meme to look like this. Play whatever you want but understand the fact that any game created in the gacha genre (and the more western “loot box”) is exploitive to its players. You’ve fucked yourself as soon as you start believing this isn’t the case for “your” gacha.

people freaking out when those genshin character design internal documents leaked because they had images of other characters and random shit as inspiration was so funny like. if a normal process of referencing other’s work that never sees the light of day is shocking to you then you’re going to have a heart attack when you learn about temp music

what happened here in between the first design and the actual implementation in FGO. like genuinely. absolute clusterfuck clothing and it doesn’t help in usual FGO manner his attacks are completely filled with so many fucking explosions and sparkles so you can barely see anything. I can’t believe I actually saw something that made me think “I wish the danganronpa artist drew this instead”

I can’t say I’m a huge fan of either era but looking at his work now, he just regurgitates awkward stiff poses with clusterfuck clothing designs, other artists do the color and background for him. that’s common especially if you’re an art director for something as $$$ and big as FGO but I think those 2 aspects make his work more professional looking to fans. his gacha female art just feels like stagnation and his illustrations for the tsukihime remake are similarly stiff. sometimes character artists need to refresh themselves by going to a figure drawing class/night like a drink&draw and getting loose with their skills again…I’m not going to pretend to know anything about his life of course but hypothetically I think this type of thing would be helpful. it’s advice I would give to a lot of artists in stagnation who get stuck working off of other anime illustrations instead of real life.
I think the fact that he has to do so many gacha female illustrations puts a wrench in his progression as an artist because it relies SO much on what the audience wants and all of these games must play it pretty safely in terms of female character design. The only thing I’ve seen him recently change is making female character’s legs even thinner lmao which looks even worse. Regardless, some of his anatomy is pretty off even for anime standards, most recently that illustration for the anime youtuber bunny girl dressed as mashu had an odd head to body ratio and (again even for anime) her eyes were so big it looked strange. I thought it was funny fans were saying “he CAN draw something other than saberface!!” when it was just his classic anime female face but he made the eyes larger. Idk it’s just been sad to watch an artist stagnate like this, his older work wasn’t great obviously but it had more of a spark of life in it than his current work.

love when guys say they play the jiggling ass titty gacha games for the “really good” story. in order to be literate they need to see absurdly sexualized anime girls like someone jingling keys in front of them every time they start to get bored

this isn’t a criticism of the actual games, I don’t think there’s some huge moral failure in enjoying entertainment like this, I don’t think as a genre it needs to be singled out as specifically “evil” entertainment when we also have extremely popular blockbuster movies bankrolled by the military for propaganda, movies that skimp on safety and fuck over their artists, or AAA games that completely fuck over their employees with crunch, or even like I said the more western “loot box” which as also been around for a long time. Etc. This post is literally about the fans who think they’re playing some “elevated” gacha. You don’t need to self flagellate about playing them, it’s enough to be aware of the genre’s pitfalls and not act like limbus or r1999 is any different than your bog standard gacha. they are gacha, they’ve made them in the gacha style for a reason. but if you don’t want to see even slight criticism you can mute or block this blog if it’s annoying

Of course there are a lot of loud, angry fans of anime-styled entertainment that start seeing red as soon as a character doesn’t look “perfect”. I can’t imagine being so tedious. I do think a lot of it is not even enjoying the work as art but rather the power it instills in them (lbr it’s men) to see women drawn for their consumption first before anything else. It’s why they can consume so much visual junkmail in the shape of AI anime titty art. this is also why you see them get so fucking heated about gacha game designs specifically as well, the character-for-audience-consumption is the closest and most extreme in those situations. When they see, for instance, a hypersexualized child girl in a microbikini called “the whore of babylon” or a genderbent paperwhite Indian goddess wearing only fire on her tits and pussy in a popular gacha like FGO, they see a cultural juggernaut appealing to their view of women which pleases them. But when an extremely popular gacha like Genshin Impact releases a male character in short shorts, stockings and a garterbelt - sexualized in the same way that the women are sexualized - many male fans (specifically Korean) shit their pants and lost their minds in anger. this isn’t to say any of these games are doing something revolutionary in character design nor is it grounds for some new litmus test where a gacha is measured as good or bad depending on how much it pisses off incel gamers. that is missing the point. the male character can appeal to women but he always must first affirm his strength and masculinity to the male fans. This is why you see many male gacha fans saying they don’t mind more “bros” being added to the game and thinking male characters showing muscle and having their shirts off is fanservice. Look at the difference in female swimsuit characters in FGO versus the male swimsuit “costumes”. This both flatters their sense of masculine power and rigidly upholds a stark gender divide. by creating a male character that is sexualized in the same way female characters are, both of these aspects which men see as patriarchal standards are flipped on their heads. They have such an extreme reaction because they don’t want to lose patriarchal power on any front. You can see this in many aspects of life, regarding entertainment after gacha games it’s usually video games as a whole and movies that men will have shit fits about; they think a female character who looks normal has been made ugly on purpose to spite them specifically (see the “Stellar Blade screenshot vs the Spider-Man game screenshot” being passed around). They lost their damn minds about the fucking Barbie movie. That type of thing.

there’s this strange quality of a lot of anime styled art where the focus is SO much on making (predominantly) women look like perfect unblemished dolls that any attempt to have them make any type of expression besides placid blankness falls completely flat. you have these women reacting to this goofy ass line that’s obviously comedic but they’re barely making any expressions. Their eyes still have to be perfectly half lidded, there’s absolutely no wrinkling anywhere on their faces- not around a frowning mouth, not around shocked or furrowed eyebrows. Their mouths can be open but it has to be petite, it has to look appealing and sexy before it looks like any actual expression. like what is the nun feeling? It’s genuinely so blank that it turns into a visual novel Kuleshov effect- you can imagine what her actual expression means only when seeing the text she’s reacting to.
It’s an extremely artistically limiting practice, the characters end up appearing completely stiff. I always found the most joy in figure drawing classes drawing models with wrinkles, unique body shapes, dynamic poses (this one for shorter amounts of time of course). Seeing artists dive so deeply into illustrations like this that their work becomes stiff and boring is disheartening. Of course there are a lot of loud, angry fans of anime-styled entertainment that start seeing red as soon as a character doesn’t look “perfect”. I can’t imagine being so tedious. I do think some of it is not even enjoying the work as art but rather the power it instills in them (lbr it’s 99.9% men) to see women drawn for their consumption first before anything else. this is why you see them get so fucking heated about gacha game designs specifically as well, the character-for-audience-consumption is the closest and most extreme in those situations.
