heavy and thoughtful west coast screamy-screamies from La Bella. in a sea of incredibly pretentious Orchid-worship acts, these folks really stand out. something about that California DIY attitude catapults it from great to totally refreshing.

I now have a 55-minute long commute. I’m trying to devote some of that time each week to unheard LPs since the only distraction I have in the car is the road. 

started things off with (The) Ice Choir LP “Afar” from 2012, in anticipation of their new LP later this year. Kurt Feldman (ex-Depreciation Guild, ex-Pains of Being Pure at Heart) going beyond a love letter to 80s pop and actually nailing a complete tribute to it. if I played this record for my parents I’m sure they would be scratching their head trying to figure out which artist from Living in Oblivion this was.

the pride of Connecticut, Birth of Flower, returns with a new track and a new 7″.

first saw 75 Dollar Bill when they opened for Tortoise earlier this year - one of those situations where you walk into a show and are completely floored by the opener. their new record is marvelous - using the studio to their advantage, expanding the instrumentation to create their largest realizations of their indescribable sound. can’t wait to pick this up on vinyl.

the new For Everest LP is streaming! always have enjoyed this band for putting out emotional and catchy material. 

RIYL Straylight Run, The Anniversary, Copeland, Death Cab... with lyrics that might speak to your current self vs your 16 year old self (unless you’re 16 right now, in that case, disregard).
