The Angel Viewed Through Raindrops
Reneé Rapp x fem!reader TW's: it's just fluff Word Count: 920 A/N: First work I’m posting, it’s also in first person. So I don’t know if I really like it like that, considering I mostly write in third person. But I didn’t really want to deal with the y/n stuff
Tumblr media
The rain pattered on the window, a repeated pattern, watching the droplets race each other. Sitting in the passenger seat across from her, eyes as green as the fields we often visited. Humming along to a song on the radio, though I had no clue what it is…I just listen, listen to the softness of it all. Everything except her was background for me, it felt as if it was a film. The camera would focus on her and how she was just as beautiful as the setting sun, only it wasn’t a camera, it was my own eyes. Focusing on her. I couldn’t help the gentle smile that found its way to my face, my heart feeling that familiar feeling of care for her. Her voice then cut through my peaceful thoughts.
“Baby, you’re staring again. I mean I am gorgeous though, so I do understand the appeal” She laughed a bit afterward, and so did I. My response came before she was able to stop laughing fully. “You’re right, I can’t help myself while looking at such an angel” I saw her take one of her hands off the steering well, placing it on top of my hand. Rubbing her thumb over my knuckles, a soft caress, something that never failed to make my heart flutter. Her gaze was still fixated on the road though, making sure we didn’t miss a turn on our way back home. Serene would be the only way to describe the moment. It was late at night so the LA traffic wasn’t as bad, the rain hitting the rough with a soft pit pat, a quiet radio for background noise, and my girlfriend driving us home.
We eventually pulled into the driveway of our home, the car coming to park as she shifted the gear. She took out the keys and got out of the car, going around to my side and opening the door for me. “C’mon baby, let’s get you inside”, I took her hand as I got out of the car, being hit by the cold rain made me question how she was able to stand there for a while. We both hurried into the house, she unlocked and opened the door letting us in. The familiar atmosphere of our home greeting us, as well as our orange cat Thomas. Who enthusiastically jumped down from his cat tower and trotted over to us, rubbing against our legs and meowing repeatedly. Reneé scooped him up in her arms happily, talking to him like he was a toddler, “Oh there’s my handsome boy, I missed my darling so much” Thomas meowed in response and curled up in her arms. “I feel neglected” my tone was dramatic as I placed my hand to my heart, pretending to be hurt. The blonde looked at me and laughed a bit, “You’re so dramatic sometimes princess” she rolled her eyes jokingly. Setting Thomas down and stepping further into the house, taking off her shoes and jacket. I followed suit, my shoes going on the small rack and my jacket up on the hanging rack. She looked back at me, both of us being drenched because of the rain outside. “Why don’t we go get changed and then relax on the couch?” Before I could even answer she was halfway up the stairs, I followed behind quickly. The feeling of wet clothes clinging to me is unnecessarily uncomfortable. “You know using “we” in a sentence usually means you’d wait for the person to respond” I tried to sound serious, though hearing her laugh from our room made it hard to keep the “serious” tone. I went into the room, going into the side of the wooden dresser and grabbing a pair of pajama pants. Also reaching over and grabbing a loose shirt from Reneé’s side, “You aren’t sneaky baby, I saw that” I grabbed it anyway. Putting it on top of the dresser as I stripped my wet clothing off, “I wasn’t trying to be, I have zero shame in stealing your shirts. They’re abnormally comfy.” Slipping on the comfortable red plaid pants a size too big and her shirt that was only a bit bigger on me, but it smelt like her so that’s what made it worth stealing. I turned around when I was done, she was still in the middle of getting her shirt on. I waited for her to be done, leaning against the dresser and pretending to check an invisible watch. “Tick-tock, tick-tock. Time’s ticking babe and you’re taking forever.” Obviously being dramatic and making fun of how long she was taking, once she got her shirt on(which didn’t truly take that long) she glared at me. “Yep totally I’m wasting all the time in the world” she rolled her eyes sarcastically.
We both went downstairs, sitting on the large part of the sectional couch. I was cuddled into her side as she flicked through different movies, she then decided on “Woman of the Hour” a good reenactment of the true horror events. The movie started and we sat there cuddled close together, relaxing after the day of errands. My eyelids got heavy as more time passed, leaning into the blonde more. Feeling her hand rest on my waist, keeping me close to her. The movie became background noise as I slowly drifted off to sleep, my breathing steadying out. The last thing I felt was a soft kiss to the top of my head and a murmured “Love you baby”.
