the jonelias zine gang have been memeing on one of the members' cosplay photos, so here is my contribution as a drawing warmup 😌

Thinking about it and as much as I breathe and love Jonelias I just can never remove Martin from the narrative in my head, because Jon loves Martin because Jon loves how human Martin is. There's something about how fond Jon gets when Martin suggests killing Oliver in S5 -- Martin's being insanely human here, very selfish even, but I love him for it and so does Jon.

It's not even about Martin himself, although I am interested in Martin in lots of ways (and some people get him much better than I do and I'm always interested in that), it's so often about what Martin represents for Jon. Hope, humanity, a chance to just live. He wishes he'd loved Martin in every reality, even the "simpler" ones, because loving Martin means anchoring himself to goodness despite how attracted he is by monsterhood and fear and horror.

Of course, because Martin is human, and also incredibly lonely, you can manipulate him through his love of Jon (even if he might manipulate you back). And there is something to say about Elias literally not minding Martin in the relationship at all; Something something about indulging Jon with Martin, as if Martin is a nice little treat Jon can have, for doing everything Elias has ever desired and wanted.

Also something about like - Jon can have Martin, because what Elias and Jon have is not just human; it's bigger, grander, inescapable; they're bounded in ways that cannot be expressed in "just" a normal, classic relationship.

(and jon needs both to be happy, because i say so)

Trust me to literally always be thinking about the fact Martin stabs Jon with the same knife Jon stabbed Jonah with whenever I see some Jmart Finale art and be so extremely normal at the thought of their blood mingling, of staying connected and bonded even in death, of sharing the same fate in the end, of never being able to extricate for one another even if they DO end up Somewhere Else--

(This is the reason why Jonah HAS to be in Somewhere Elses AU. At the very least he should be haunting Jon, caressing his cheek every night Jon cannot sleep over the guilt and grief of failing not just one world but endless ones.)

Hey archival assistants, avatars, and everyone in between!

We are proud to be hosting our fourth annual ArchiveCon - a fan-run online con for 18+ fans of the Rusty Quill horror podcast, The Magnus Archives (and now Protocol!)

Whether you're an old fan, a new fan, a deeply-rooted fandom denizen, or looking to make your first connections in our fan community, we hope you’ll join us. ArchiveCon may be online-only, but we’ve got all the energy and features of a traditional offline convention - everything from panels and special guests (voice actors, writers, and industry professionals!), to cosplay and games, streaming and discussion, and even an Artist’s Alley.  

Here’s the rundown:

- June 27 to 29, 2025 (Friday to Sunday!), from 4 PM to 6 PM, EST.

- Adults only! Most areas of the con will be SFW, but you still must be 18+ to attend.

- FREE TO ATTEND! (Registration is required and must be done so before the convention starts; you can register here!)

- All events are scheduled in EST, but international fans are welcome and most panels (at the discretion of individual panelists) will be recorded for post-convention, on-demand viewing.  

- Primarily focused on The Magnus Archives/Protocol, but fans of all things horror, podcasting, and transformative works will find something to love. The Plain Old Curious are always welcome, too - we have to feed The Eye somehow, right? ;)

He puts the kindling in the fireplace. He lights the match. He's going to rid himself of this vice, he swears. But to what end? What good is paper turned to ash, in the face of the unknowable? What good is it in the face of love? He lights a second match. The first has burned his fingertips. He tosses the letters into the fire and knows he's achieved nothing.
