the nineties and the early aughts television landscape really was defined by long deployment of "will they won't they" dynamics people these days would not be able to handle network television writers' rooms teasing ships for multiple years only to more often than not be given the answer "they will not. <3 hope this helps"

Photo

Apparently this guy was at his mother in law’s house and they were all going through photo albums and he sees he photobombed his wife 11 years before they even met. I fucking love this.
#i think all the time about how many people's photos i'm in the background of#or how many times i might've randomly passed someone who later became important in my life#i'm pretty sure there was a couple that had a similar viral story about being in photos of each other's childhood family disney vacations

They Moved The Moon - a Portal fanfic

They moved the moon (I feel so strange…) While I looked down (Everything I depended on…) When I looked away (Has been rearranged…) They changed the stars around – Warren Zevon
After twelve!! years!!! I am finally starting to post the sad caveline longfic I've been constantly working on since pretty much the day I joined this fandom. Does twelve years of work mean it's good? Consensus unclear.
Summary: As Cave Johnson succumbs to lunar poisoning, Caroline reckons with what comes next as her world collapses around her. Doug Rattmann, meanwhile, befriends a young orphan girl in the Self-Esteem Fund program.
Chapter One of Fifteen
#at the very least i know exactly how many chapters it's going to be and now will be able to post regularly#because i was too paranoid to post anything from it before it was finished#'finished' here is like a loose synonym for 'i don't completely hate it anymore'#it was 'finished' back in 2013 but it sucked lol#portal#portal 2#portal fanfiction#caveline#cave johnson#caroline#caroline tag#they moved the moon#tmtm#my writing#my fanfiction#why is this showing up twice lol#i don't want to delete it and have both go away though#never change tumblr

people always say “growing up I always thought quicksand was going to be a much bigger problem than it turned out to be” and it’s because of children’s media showing us too much quicksand, but my solution is quicksand land, a theme park that’s all about quicksand, the whole park is covered in it. you can’t help but get … sucked in… thank you, yes, any questions? … how do they get out of the quicksand? Uhhh JEREMIAH GET OUTTA THERE

this australian guy wrote about the columbia protests when he was a student here. he hid his substack and deleted his social media apps before he went on a trip back to the US to visit friends. he was detained, interrogated extensively about palestine by two border patrol agents, then deported back to australia.
^ that's a quick summary he wrote after the experience. the longer new yorker article is really jarring. link without paywall here
