i completely understand & agree with the backlash against students using chatgpt to get degrees but some of you are out here saying "getting a degree in xyz means pulling multiple consecutive all-nighters and writing essays through debilitating migraines and having severe back pain from constantly studying at your desk and chugging energy drinks until you get a kidney stone and waking up wishing you were dead every day, and that's just part of the natural process of learning!!!" and like. umm. i don't think that any of us should have had to endure that either. like maybe the solution for stopping students from using anti-learning software depends on college institutions making the process of learning actually sustainable on the human body & mind rather than a grueling health-destroying soul-crushing endeavor

Having friends that are interested in only one of your many, many fandoms is sometimes more curse than blessing.

I just saw a post that perfectly linked one of my current favorite things to one from my childhood, and I immediately got excited because

Only to realize they have never interacted with one of the things...

I just went to the cheesecake factory for the first time. I spent the past few days looking at the vast ocean of options, meticulously calculating my perfect meal. By the time I got to the restaurant, I knew what I wanted, except the cheesecake. I had narrowed it down to a few options, but I felt very indecisive.

I kept looking at the cheesecake options, and the white chocolate raspberry truffle kept sticking out to me, I felt like I had heard good things about it before.

Then it hit me

Retch and Twink had ranked it #1 in their cheesecake factory gut check

I got it even though I'm not a big fan of white chocolate. When I tell you that was the best cheesecake I have ever had in my life, believe it.

I tried all the other cheesecakes that were ordered, and the next best one was the classic strawberry. Everyone at the table wished they had ordered the white chocolate raspberry truffle.

Moral of the story, trust Rachet and Clank's gut checks if you want the best foods

I have never posted my art before, but I had to make a portrait in oil pastels for my art class last semester, and it got put in a local art show. I'm very proud of myself and wanted to show it off.

It was my first time using oil pastels and one of the few times I've done portraiture. Art isn't really a hobby of mine.

I chose to make a portrait of my favorite author. I absolutely LOVE Leigh Bardugo's work! I am practically a walking advertisement for her books in my area. I have successfully gotten at least 4 people to read Shadow and Bone.

I had a lot of fun making it!

the way jordie haunts the narrative truly haunts me. the way he carried kaz to shore, the way he demands to be remembered. the way he drives kaz's plans and schemes and has woven his way into the platform that kaz brekker has built for himself.

the way jordie has kept kaz afloat for years. but the way he's also kept kaz in the water for years. the way kaz has been kicking and kicking toward the moment of recompense and revenge, his hands never leaving jordie. his kickboard, his lighthouse, the thing keeping him alive and the thing keeping him half in the grave, dragging him down as much as he's guiding him.

the way jordie was once a light for kaz, the way kaz has found light in inej. the way inej is the reason kaz didn't drown in fjerda, the reason to keep swimming, the reason to live. the way jordie was once a brother for kaz, the way kaz has found a brother in jesper. the way jesper is someone for kaz to protect and to forgive, and the way he's more capable of doing so now.

the way jordie is avenged by kaz, but the way that isn't where the story ends. kaz destroying pekka isn't it. it doesn't have to be it anymore. because everything that jordie was to kaz, everything he's clung to, he's found elsewhere. and yes, he still has to learn to take his hands off his brother, but there are reasons to now, there are reasons to climb out of that water. to forgive, to move on, to learn to forget in moments when remembering does nothing but drag him down.

the way jordie is, in so many ways, what holds this story together. the way kaz no longer needing him or his ghost is what sets the story free. is what sets jordie free.
