this is your gentle reminder to stop fighting against your adhd and instead structure your life around it
buy a pack of chapsticks and put one in the pocket of all of your coats and jackets because you always forget to bring one and chapped lips is sensory hell
leave important things where you can see them. if they go in a box or a drawer you will forget they exist
put any appointments or deadlines in your phone calendar As Soon As you get them. set a reminder for a week before, a day before, an hour before, as many as you need as often as you need them.
when that little voice in your head says "i dont need to write that down, ill remember it" that is the devil talking!!! write it down anyway!!
plan for down time. have a few hours at the end of every day to just do fun stuff like engage in your hyperfixations. even if you didnt get all of your work done that day, have the rest anyway. you probably spent the whole day beating yourself up for not doing what you Should be doing, so you still need the break.
if you never eat vegetables because its too much effort to chop and cook them, get the frozen or canned shit. it doesnt go off for ages and you just have to microwave it. theres no point buying fresh vegetables if they just keep going off and being left to rot in the bottom of your fridge
if you struggle to decide what to have for dinner every day, take the decision out of it. choose a set of meals and eat those on rotation until you get sick of them, then choose some new ones and do it again.
its not stupid if it works! our brains literally have a chemical deficiency. you are allowed to accommodate yourself. go forth and stop making your life more difficult than it has to be because "this shouldn't be this hard". it is hard, so make it easier.

I've watched Night several times and I just noticed that some of the Voyager crew were in their civilian clothes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It makes sense that they're not and I realize -- it might be because they're off duty.
And then it hit me, of course, the off-duty crew won't be wearing uniforms. Because they are off duty.
We just don't see them often in civilian clothes when they're off duty but obviously, some people take the time to wear off-duty clothes.

I love Brad. He's so low-key evil.
Does anyone else have a burning need for Jeff Winger to meet Brad as Abed's cousin?
Ingredients for high comedy and hijinx would be especially once Brad starts to zero in on Jeff while Abed starts filming them.
Annie and the Dean will find themselves attracted to Brad for some reason. And that bugs Jeff to no end.
Surely, someone has written that!

@curator-on-ao3: Inner Light. What’s the light lit by? Gaslighting. Everyone lies to Picard until he believes it, then they gather to tell him he really was who he thought he was when the probe could have just given him a choice in the first place. Once I heard that complaint about the episode (on Women at Warp), I couldn’t unsee how truly disturbing it is.
You know what? Yeah, this exactly.
It wasn't even Picard's life -- its not like Workforce where it was Janeway just without context of who she really was. Or Miles who had to endure a reality where he was in prison for decades.
Or Aeryn and John (Farscape) where they lived a whole life together.
Nor was it like with Kira on Second Skin.
Or Johnny and Dutch (Killjoys) living a life as a married couple and they were happy.
This was something completely outside of Picard.
It's not something he would have chosen for himself, in another life. He experienced memories of another person like how the Voyager crew experienced the massacre of a people in Memorial.
I guess it's why Inner Light didn't resonate with me. It was off-concept and one of the first that was done on Star Trek that's why it gained a lot of traction but it wasn't really Picard.
I immediately knew that family on Inner Light was fake, I knew nothing there could be real so the investment wasn't. I can respect that Picard believed it.
On the other hand, Family was all about Picard. His trauma, his relationship with his brother. It's Picard, just there in the mud, breaking down and admitting what the Borg took from him and that was powerful!
Here’s a hot take— Best of Both Worlds & Inner Light are overrated.
Inner Light— because TNG fans keep insisting that’s what New to TNG watchers should start with. (Why— there’s no investment there. I know Picard but even I was so bored watching it.)
Best Picard episode showing his inner life: “Family”
I am aware of the irony since “Family” wouldn’t have existed without BoBW.
Best of Both Worlds— Over Hyped. On my re/watch of TNG (I saw it as a kid but retained no memory. And then realized the stronger memories I have of TNG were the final seasons and the TNG movies).
BoBW was the pioneer but other shows have done this concept and better.

The best piece of advice I ever got was not meant as advice, but as an edict. If I was going to threaten people as a joke, it had to be so far out of proportion with what happened that it would be obvious I was joking. This changed how I expressed frustration with others. It then changed how I expressed frustration with myself.
Not “I’m going to hit you” but “I am going to buy a tuna sub from the gas station and hide it under the seat of your car”
Not “I’m going to kill myself” but “I am going to walk into the desert and let the scarabs take me”
The other side then happened. When I mess something up, instead of saying it’s bad and perpetuating negative thoughts, swing hard the other way.
Not “this art is terrible” but “this shall be framed and mounted on the wall in my museum exhibition as testament to the suffering I had to overcome”
Have been doing this since high school. It was my drama teacher who asked me to please stop scaring the actors. The other half of the edict was that I had to say it in a polite tone, and end it with either please or thank you.
Life changing. 10/10 Mr Muëller. Highly reccomend.

Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1
The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.
So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.
So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.
Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.
And the probe is working again.
From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.

I hate... fanon archetypes. You know how people sand down their blorbos to fit into the same handful of incorrect quote templates and then they forget their actual canon personalities because they've gone too long without engaging with the source material? I hate it. I hate it. He would not fucking say that. The joke was slightly funny when it was on the office or whatever but we've all heard it over and over with different characters pasted into it how are you still laughing please let me out

Things Lois Lane does not envy Wonder Woman:
Her friendship with Superman. Lois knows that they’re close friends and nothing more, and that her own relationship with Clark is deep and pure.
Her power and respect. Wonder Woman has earned that and more.
Things Lois Lane does envy Wonder Woman:
That goddamn lasso
Why do you even need a truth lasso Diana
Think of all the stories she could get with that thing goddammit

Our fandom forbearers did NOT suffer through Anne Rice, strikethrough, and other bullshit for fucking ACOTAR and Harry Potter fans to fucking ruin it for all of us by selling fanfiction. I am not losing novel length yaoi epics because some of you don't know how to act in fannish spaces and yes I do blame the booktokification of fanfic but I also blame those of you that treat fandom like content to consume and not a community to engage with.
