If you hadn't noticed, recently I've been obsessed with the musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I've been doing a lot of digging into the personalities of the brothers and their brides as I've wanted to understand their characters better.
Here's something random I have noticed:
Liza is (as far as I've seen) the only bride to have more personality than her corresponding brother, Ephraim. Now, don't get me wrong, Ephraim is my favorite of the brothers. He seems just kinda silly and like he doesn't really know what's going on. There's one part where Adam grabs him by the shirt like they're gonna fight and he's literally just grinning. I'm also like 85% certain that when Adam gets them all in the buggy to take them to town to kidnap their girls, he yells "Yeehaw!" And in a lot of scenes, he's kinda peeking out from behind the others and smiling like a dork. At first I thought maybe his character was kinda shy, but then I remembered that he literally offered a girl tobacco. He was the first of his brothers to actually talk to a girl... and he offered her tobacco. So he must not really be that shy, maybe just quiet. Still, it's difficult to pinpoint what his personality is like. The only reason I have the ideas about him that I do is because I decided he was my favorite, so I've obsessed over each scene containing him.
Liza, on the other hand, is very much in the center of attention as far as girls go. Now, Dorcas tends to get a lot of hype because... well... she's Julie Newmar. And Alice is recognized a lot because she's probably seen the most (Gideon is also, arguable, one of the main brothers), and was the first of the brides to be introduced in the movie. But if you pay attention, you'll find that Liza is one of the primary dancers in the barn dance scene (not even always dancing with Ephraim), and that out of all the girls, she has the most singing parts. We also know that she is not shy, as she stands openly by the window in her undergarments and peaks outside, even when reprimanded. We also know that she is one of the girls to be most openly wrestless within the house and is very open about being tired of Alice's books. From all of these things, we can gather that Liza is likely a rather outspoken young woman.
All things considered, she is a more main girl than Ephraim is a main boy.
Another random thing, in the sing Spring, Spring, Spring, Liza is the only one of the girls to start the verse she shares with Ephraim, rather than the brother starting it. And when Ephraim sings his part about the sun acting as a spotlight on the beautiful parts of life, he is not looking at nor pointing at the flower field Liza was singing about, but is rather looking and motioning right at Liza herself.
This was all a really long way to say that I love Ephraim. And I love Liza. And I love Ephraim and Liza, and I wish we saw more of how they interact together. I think Liza is the type of girl to know exactly what she wants from life, and Ephraim is kind of just along for the ride.
Flynn: Well, ehm.. What does it do?
River: Well, it stands around being fluffy and looking fabulous. Like your own Dolly Parton -and he winked playfully- Plus, it's someone to talk to, remember a bit like a cat or a dog.
Flynn: But I already talk to Lobo?
River chuckled, he had given Lobo to his son, as they were so close. And he had made Munchie into his familiar, although not locked him to an orb, in a way he had kept him the same cat as always, and just given him the familiar's long life.
River: Lobo is a familiar. Dolly on the other hand needs you to care for her, feed her, and talk to her. Although I am sure you talk to the chickens you have as well, Dolly is trained to react to feelings.
Flynn: So if I am angry?
River: She will know, and react and behave a certain way.
Flynn: Hopefully not spit in my face?
River: Hopefully not. -grins- but she might! She’s a lady, she takes no dragonshit. So if she spits on you, you probably just said something stupid.
Flynn just chuckled and shook his head, which had Dolly tilt her head watching him as if waiting for something more. As they stood there, they could all hear small feet coming to see the present as well.
My partner has a food allergy and I always check my food to make sure our orders weren't mixed up, just in case. You're making a lot of excuses for your partner because the intent wasn't malicious, but it was dismissive. He's a selfish man who doesn't give a shit about your needs and you let him get away with it because you don't want to be seen as a hysterical woman turning an accident into drama. And you apologize for him feeling bad just like he wants, you to apologize to him, you to share the guilt, you to be emotionally coerced into letting him off the hook. When you break up and date someone who genuinely cares about you, you'll be shocked at how much they care about you and how many of these little accidents don't happen when they're looking out for you as much as you do for them.
Wow. This is quite the accusation, anon.
In case anyone is wondering I’m pretty sure this is in reference to this post of mine.
I am in a really confident place in my relationship but maybe don’t send people asks saying their partner doesn’t “give a shit” about their needs because I can see how that could cause distress to someone. Also your implication that he doesn’t genuinely care about me is a shitty assumption.
Also, I must stress that there is a huge difference between a food allergy and me not liking something. I’m sorry if I gave the impression I had an allergy. I don’t. I just really hated the ingredients on his sandwich. If I had an allergy, I’m sure he would be a lot more careful. He is very careful in regards to my physical issues as it is.
That post also failed to mention that he immediately offered to drive me an hour back to get a new sandwich.
Honestly, anon, I really don’t know what to tell you if you expect little accidents to never happen.
Maybe this ask came from a good place. But it’s a really shitty ask to send someone over their partner… accidentally eating their sandwich?
When I first watch generation loss I was trying to figure out what the thing is about. After we knocked of Slimescicle’s grandma’s ashes, and he got blamed for it I started to catch. On him being confused and yet keep going started to make some sort of sense. But only we in the warehouse in the creepy closet room. (It was a weird room who has a creepy human like black and white checkered statue ok) And he kept repeating instructions and acting like an NPC that it started to click. And when we saw that Jerma(Puzzler) had killed himself for a show (I may be misunderstanding that please correct me if I’m wrong) That I started to think this is about being a content creator. The scrutiny, the control for strangers, our weird love.
When I saw him pick the yellow code and I internally said, oh, that’s ok you don’t have to listen to us. The entire series I was literally trying to help him be ok or happy or protect him by defeating his enemies. But I realized not everyone, shows love like that. Love is weird, it’s everything and nothing, and parasocial relationships always have some. It’s so weird to know so much about someone and know they don’t know you. To know that you are just an observer, and I personally am ok with that. I always feel people, fictional characters, plants, yeah, it’s weird. But when he was begging to die because he wanted to say the same to be himself.
I realized that our love can be good intention but it can cause harm. We want what is best for someone. But sometimes what is best is also what is terrible for us. I don’t blame the people on team live, you wanted someone you care about to be ok, that’s not wrong it’s human. There was also our curiousity, what would happen if Ranboo lived? Would it help, would it hurt? How could we not know but also know, how could we make them happy but also have our answers.
(Last epioside) There were a few parts that made me cry, 1. Was that Hetch’s thought that we didn’t care Ranboo, so we were killing them. We were killing him because we cared. I always want the people I have parasocial relationships with to be happy, and if that means I don’t ever see them again I’m ok with that. The second was the fact he didn´t trust us. It´s understandable to be freaked out that someone is watching you. That they have been controlling you. And you don´t know why. If Ranboo in Genloss could see the chat I think It would of gone very differently. And that bow, them saying goodbye, and then the failure, it hurt it really did.
I felt guilty killing Ranboo, but the part of the episode that filled me with fear was that end. Someone marking the tape and then we see more blank tapes. More tapes, that means something, I don’t know probably we do more things like this, or we just see pain.
I’m in awe of how good it was I loved it. Generation Loss confused, hurt, and wrecked me. It also made me aware of how my actions may affect people on the internet, and that our love no matter how well intentioned would ruin someone.
it's the little things that make the pain a little easier, you know? sometimes, all you need is to take a little time to think over stuff . . . and devour fruit gummies . bought a big ass bag of them & gorged .
i feel like a lot of the 'i hate kids' crowd would be more tolerant if they understood that due to a kid's limited experience of the world that 4 hour flight might just be the longest they've ever had to sit still for or that trapped finger might literally be the most pain they've ever felt in their short life or they might not have ever seen a person with pink hair ever so of course they want to touch it or nobody's told them yet that they can't run around the museum and they only just learned cheetahs are the fastest animals so of course they want to put that to the test. how were they supposed to know etc etc.
