The Importance Of Colour Theory
Have you seen this piece? Andy Warhol, a famous American graphic designer, film producer, and director, made it. At a glance, we see four different strawberries, or perhaps it’s the same strawberry painted in four different colour schemes. Either way, nothing special about it, right? Not a big deal? Plain old strawberries? It will surprise you that this piece of art is worth upwards of ten thousand dollars, all the way up to a million!
Andy Warhol was renowned for his pictures of everyday consumerist products or famous figures using screen printing techniques. If you haven’t seen the strawberries, then you might have seen this one:
It’s Marilyn Monroe, of course! So, we know what you’re thinking. Why are these pictures so highly valued? What makes Warhol’s work so striking to look at, so highly priced, and so coveted?
Warhol uses a collection of colours for each strawberry, but these are colours that go well together, and because he put together the perfect shades, we see the depth in his piece. We can look beyond the strawberries to imagine how each strawberry must taste different.
We’ll find out more about this in the next section, where we learn colour theory, the one tip that makes a picture awe-inspiring. Without further ado, let’s dive right into the importance of colour theory along with a quick guide!
What is Colour Theory?
Colour theory is a set of principles that tells the artist what colours work well and what the effects of seeing some colours together are on the viewer. It’s not as simple as knowing that red and white make pink, but where to use the pink, which other colours to use it with, and how the viewer will feel when they see the pink.
One would think that colours are simple. Light colours make us happy, and dark colours are intense. Then why is there comprehensive literature on something so straightforward? Let us move to the next section to understand the importance of colour theory.
Why is Colour Theory Important?

Lights, Needles, Action! Everything You Should Know About Haute Couture
Have you ever watched alluring dressmaking and sewing videos on Instagram? Watched skilled hands layer fabric on mannequins; attach beads, jewels, drapes, and feathers? Did that inspire you to design your dresses? Maybe you loved dressing up your dolls or siblings as a child? Cut up fabric to make your dress for your model, even at the risk of being scolded for snipping up a perfectly wearable t-shirt before tossing it out. If so, this article is for you!
We’ll discover one aspect of fashion: couture, sewing, and dressmaking. Join us to learn what couture is and the various sewing techniques that encompass it! Excited? Then without further ado, let’s dive right in!
What is Haute Couture?
Elite, the crème de la crème of fashion, haute couture is the production of unique, handcrafted, high-end, custom-fitted clothing from start to finish. The focus here is on craftsmanship, and the attention to detail is simply mind-boggling. Haute couture clothing is for specific customers, taking into account their proportions and body structure. The budget is irrelevant: phenomenal amounts of time, money, and talent are infused into each piece.
It would not surprise you that the words “haute couture” translate to “high dressmaking” in French.
Imagine mid-nineteenth-century Paris blowing up as the hottest destination for an industry of designers specialising in making high-quality and expensive gowns, made of unique fabrics emphasising the details. All are painstakingly designed by hand. If you have watched “Bridgeton”, you know that only aristocrats and the wealthy used these. Today haute couture is synonymous with classy apparel, popularised by celebrities.
Here’s a fun fact: Marylin Monroe’s scandalous happy birthday dress is a leading example of haute couture. It was practically sewn onto her, made solely for her body. The history associated with the dress and its magnificence caused an absolute uproar when Kim Kardashian wore it to the Met Gala. Have you been keeping up with the drama?
Now that you are all caught up on the yore, let’s jump right into couture dress-making and sewing techniques.

Everything to Know About the Liberal Arts
If you’re a 10th grader, needing to decide on what stream to pick next year, or a 12th grader, looking for information on the liberal arts, this article is for you! Career decisions are difficult, especially with urban myths about the job market and how employers “only want students from the pure sciences”.
We’re here to debunk these fables. In this article, we will talk about:
What the liberal arts are
What topics it covers
Reasons why you should consider studying them.
What courses would offer you and the scope for careers in this field?
We hope we can give you a good understanding of the industry so you can make an educated decision. Let’s get started!
What are the liberal arts?
Did you know that four out of five employers said that all students should become well-versed in various liberal arts and sciences? It’s based on a study by the Association Of American Colleges. The study details that students need the skills taught by this course to be successful, and that they earn at least $2,000 more than their counterparts by retirement age than those that went through more specialised fields, like nursing and business.
So, onto the main question: what are the liberal arts? The degree covered topics like grammar, rhetoric, and logic. They served as the basis for law and military careers. Eventually, arithmetic and philosophy were also added to the mix. The liberal arts were historically considered important for people to be able to lead active, civic lives. Today the liberal arts cover many subjects, ranging from humanities to formal sciences. Some of these are art, literature, languages, religion, ethics, theatre, music, psychology, history, astronomy, biology, zoology, logic, and much more!
As you can see, it’s a diverse subject to study and achieves its aim of creating holistically developed individuals who are creative and independent thinkers. It would give you the skills you need for social, environmental, economic, and political issues.

Becoming a fashion connoisseur- The use of technology in fashion design
As Cruella says, “From the beginning, I’ve always made a statement”. The mark of a good design is it makes a statement. Conveying emotion without dialogue is the essence of the fashion industry. What better way to make a statement than to use technology with fashion?
In a world with a plethora of designers, the use of innovation is what makes one unique. As it so happens, technology is already used in fashion, in the development and distribution stages, and it plays a substantial role. Let’s look at the significance of technology in fashion and trends. Are you ready? Let’s go!
Technology Trends in the Fashion Industry
You would be surprised to know that the fashion industry has always been at the forefront of innovation. During the industrial revolution, when Europe was upskilling itself, one of the first innovations to take the world by storm was the Spinning Jenny and the cotton gin. They reduced the costs of making clothing (like labour hours) and made the prices of garments significantly cheaper.
Today the role of technology has taken a peculiar role. Human labour is being replaced by robots. AI algorithms can predict fashion trends; fashion companies are partnering with technology providers and even building their own to have that special edge. Technology makes fashion and clothing, an industry that everyone uses, from the richest to the poorest of people, more efficient and accessible to everyone. Each stage of fashion, from production to finished product uses technology.
Let’s look at it in detail:
1. Product design
Usually, dresses are developed using computer software like Adobe Illustrator. Other than this, the use of AI in designing is a new field gaining momentum. Novel fabrics are being used to create cloth. Do you know about the Coperni 2023 fashion show, where Bella Hadid flaunted a spray-on dress?
2. Manufacturing
At this stage, robots are used in the production process. 3D printing is also used for personalized apparel, many websites allow you to choose the design that you want on the clothing of your choice, allowing you to wear unique designs, designed by you.
