Apparently Nickelodeon wants to build an attraction in Palawan, Philippines . 

This might seem fun for some people, but for us it’s not. 

You see, Palawan is known for its non-commercialized islands and untouched beaches. There are only a few resorts in there, and the government limits tourism population there. Here are some pictures of our beautiful islands:

Nickelodeon, however, wants to capitalize the island of Coron, Palawan. They’re going to build a resort and theme park there. They claim that they want to “spread environmental awareness” but they’re really not. Building this resort will disrupt the marine ecosystem; thus destroying the environment there. Also, Palawan is our last ecological frontier in the Philippines. If they’re going to continue to do this, more and more big companies will cash-in to commercialize Palawan- and I really do not want that to happen.

I know petitions won’t do much, but at least we can prove a point that Palawan should not be disrupted. Please sign this petition, so that it will not only show that us Filipinxs don’t want this, but people from different countries as well. Please spread it around as well, so that people from different countries can be aware of what Nickelodeon is doing.

it’s fuck man it’s not that big a deal

Sorry but I have to rant a little since I’ve been seeing more and more of these types of comments pop up. It is a big deal. I get it’s not a civil rights movie, but it doesn’t have to be one to have black people so hyped. It is an all black cast save for a select few background characters and they have a movie about some ASS KICKING BLACK SUPERHEROES AND KINGS, like?!!!!? Let black people enjoy their movie, seeing their reactions to this film has been one of the most beautiful and heart warming things I’ve seen recently. And it shouldn’t affect you because it literally has no reason to? So many movies featuring majority white characters for years and years and now this beautifully created film with so many aspects of African culture spread throughout comes out? It’s exciting! It’s new! Hell, I was super excited for an all black cast and I’m Mexican! Adding this movie to pave the way for more diverse films is a step towards a more inclusive future for film. And, god, seeing little black kids walk out of that theatre with stupidly wide smiles melts my damn heart. Just like so many people love Harry Potter or Star Wars or other marvel movies like the avengers, let them enjoy this. Let them have this. They DESERVE this.
