Agree with literally all of this. When I was in college, I wrote a paper on the fact that Freud’s theories were still presented as being prevalent in psychotherapy- despite modern psychotherapy having nothing to do with those theories anymore- and I wrote it in a stream of consciousness the night before it was due that I did not bother with proofreading because I was too tired. I got a B+ on it, which told me that even with the least amount of effort, my work and abilities are well above being merely acceptable; and that if this was true about the least of my efforts, then it meant my greater efforts would produce even higher quality work.

So, no one is talking about how Jorge understood the Fucking Assignment™️ and wrote the song ‘Odysseus’ to be a direct foil to ‘Polyphemus’ in every way. It is the third song title to only be a name, and the other two are directly influencing his actions. Odysseus returns home to see these fucking strangers whom he’s never met trashing his place and threatening to kill ‘his favorite sheep’, if you will. A suitor tries to appeal to him with open arms, and he cuts them off with a swing. Now, he IS Polyphemus, killing these men who would dare to take what he loves most from him. And by the end of it, all he can hear are screams.
