She is a billionaire and people don’t seem to be able to conceptualize how much money that is. She made her fortune when the books released and it doesn’t make any difference anymore. I genuinely don’t understand how some people are such assholes. I don’t do anything I do out of a sense of duty or because it “feels good” to do good or because I want to be a better person, it’s literally just automatic. I barely feel emotion, and I don’t understand empathy, so how am I capable of seeing a person sleeping on a city sidewalk completely covered in a thin blanket and quietly placing an orange in-front of where I assume their face is, but everyone else just walked by?

I say all this, but now I’m thinking back to when they did that experiment on autistic vs. allistic ppl to see who would give to charity in different situations. If you don’t know about the experiment, here’s how it went:

Both the autistic ppl and the allistic ppl gave to charity when someone was watching them, but as soon as they were alone, the allistics didn’t anymore.

I’ve wondered since I heard about that why it was only the autistic people who gave when they were alone and I still don’t understand, but maybe that’s because I don’t understand empathy. How on earth does alexithymia make you more generous?

Chapter 8 is done! I’m gonna try to finish chapters 9 and 10 in the next two weeks and hopefully I can post chapter 8 by the end of the month! I’ve been feeling a lot better lately so I’m hoping it’ll all go as planned. My dad also said yes to me asking if we can get a porch swing so now I can sit outside instead of laying in bed all day or using up all my energy laying out a picnic blanket on the grass
