"Why is it so bloody quiet?" The salty sea air lightly stings Cassandra's face as she leans on the railing. "Surely there should be more… noise?" she says to no one, her voice lost on the wind. She is alone. "Survivor…" A whisper from no one rings in her head. Survivor. That's a word for what she was, she supposed. She certainly felt the guilt of a survivor. It weighed down on her in the emptiness of her home. She opens the locket, stares lovingly, and longingly, at the photos inside. Everything she'd taken for granted, never thought twice about-- their laughter, their footsteps, the sounds of life, all gone. Her home, her life, just… empty. She is alone. She lets out a heavy sigh. No. She won't succumb to those thoughts. She closes the locket, letting it fall back against her chest. She has to do this… for them. Survivor…

In other words: My DM is very good at torturing their players

i have been wanting to design Cassandra's sword for a while now and I just finished this up. It's a family heirloom that she thought was hanging above the mantle of her parents' home, so when she found it in her purse, she was pretty shocked. this being said, it has served her well so far, so she's not gonna complain. I also imagine it's like Percy Jackson's pen-sword. Like when not in sword mode, it looks like a little eye trinket, but when she needs it to be a sword, it becomes a sword.

sometimes, when you're sorting thru and following up on statements, you end up reading about a self-proclaimed vampire hunter who probably (definitely) just confessed to murder in this statement he wrote years and years ago. then you find out that he died in the breakroom while taking a break from writing the statement. and then you are reminded how fiercely weird your workplace is.

my friend's starting a Magnus Archives inspired D&D campaign, so I made an Oath of the Watchers Paladin because OBVIOUSLY. Anyway, this is Cassandra, she started working at the Institute after her life was torn apart by supernatural forces that she had tried so hard to escape. She wants to know more about these strange forces and help protect people from going through what she went through (honestly her backstory is too long to put in this post)

first artwork of 2025!! another d&d oc, Nova! she's from Aster's backstory, she's the queen who Aster advised, recently coronated after the sudden deaths of her parents. She was a warrior-type queen so Aster, the divination wizard, was to become her closest, most trusted advisor. The two grew up around each other but grew closer as they grew older and had to spend more time together (and they fell in love but their love went unspoken due to their positions as well as chaotic times in the kingdom)

Aster thought she was the only one who made it out of the collapse of her kingdom, but recent events in the campaign show that might not be the case...
