Anyone else ever think about the potential random encounters between the companions? I don’t know about everyone else but I like to keep them centralized on one settlement for convenience. Just imagine how much beef there would be with all of them essentially living in such close proximity.

(It's 2023 and I'm still playing Fallout 4. And I'm still mad you cannot romance Nick in the vanilla game. The film noir gentleman toaster was a good testing ground for the colour jitter brushes for CSP I've been working on for a while though.)

preston garvey is such an og bro, and yes for all the reasons you're thinking of but also because like, he literally led a whole group of people from Quincy to Jamaica Plain!! AND THEN ACROSS THE CHARLES RIVER TO LEXINGTON AND THEEN EVEN FURTHER UP NORTH TO CONCORD.
he was watching out for this group of people who had just been run out of their homes. he stayed with these refugees throughout every disastrous place they thought they'd be safe, every death, and just all that grieving; all while struggling with his own sense of purpose ("Everything I believed in had turned out to be a lie.") and feelings of being a failure, that led him to thinking he'd be better off dead :( plus, these people from Quincy were strangers to him at first. he didn't have to do all that, yet he took it upon himself to do so. because he's just built that way. he's too good for the damn wasteland. </3
and like even after all of that, he doesn't hang the Minuteman hat up. he keeps on going, pushing the boulder up the hill in hope of making the Commonwealth a better and safer place.

A Cinnamon roll that deserves the world and more importantly a basic understanding of good game writing (nearly a decade and I still need to defend this man

"Back before I met you, I'd go whole days without massacring a bunch of things. Honest."
I love this man too much. I'd say send help, but it's too late for me. Save yourself.

"The night is bitter, the stars have lost their glitter
The winds grow colder, suddenly you're a lot older
And all because of a gal who got away--"
----------
I went into Fallout 4 already knowing which companion would be my favorite (Hancock) but suddenly finding myself enthralled with this grandfatherly synth detective with a semi-mysterious past. I kept Nick Valentine as my companion for most of the game and loved him so much I actually went back to Sanctuary Hills to build a development for him to live in (something I neglected the ENTIRE GAME).
(ps, does anyone else dress as silver shroud while travelling with Nick and dress in your minuteman general outfit with Hancock? we were matchies)
