Just reread a bit of wytyaa (chapter 7) and now I've got Nya angst on the brain so have a random list of my favourite angsty Nya headcanons

- She has a lot of breathing issues. The scar from the Tiger Widow venom will flare up and her chest tightens and makes breathing difficult. After being the ocean, sometimes she forgets how to breathe altogether.

- After particularly traumatic events she'll drastically alter her appearance. A haircut or some dye, a new piercing, a new tattoo, anything to make her feel like she has some semblance of control over the situation. It's been her go-to coping mechanism since before Skybound happened but trying to look less like Delara is definitely part of it.

- She hates being vulnerable. For a long time the only person she felt comfortable being open with was Kai, and even now she keeps the worst of her emotions to herself. She'll shed a tear or two in front of others but she just doesn't feel safe fully breaking down in front of anyone else.

- She's prone to focusing on everyone else's problems to distract from her own. If she were to ever encounter Nadakhan again, she would completely freeze up because she never fully managed to cope with what happened. She just ignored it in favor of helping Jay until enough time had passed that she wasn't thinking about it as much anymore.

- She can't go into the Endless Sea anymore without feeling like it's pulling her in, and if she stays in too long she can feel her mind slipping, desperate to answer its call. That feeling terrifies her so she's avoided that particular body of water ever since, which sucks because sometimes the ocean is the only place that feels like home.

- When things are really bad she'll feel the ocean's call even if she's far from it. When that happens she has a bit of vengestone she'll toy with to block her powers and ground herself.
