~5 hours of math later & im exhausted
Mock exams, again. This time the whole bundle of ones from 2020. Math class was cancelled today, our homework was to continue studying on our own so that’s what I did :‘) it was exhausting but also fun- tho I am getting tired of doing calculus lol I’ve reached the point of not being able to think straight so I’ll call it a night and leave studying for tomorrow.

Day 2/100 of productivity
Morning☁️:
Made a nice breakfast of eggs
Socialized with family
Did laundry and dishes 🍽️
Mid-Day🌧️:
Played games with my family
Did another load of laundry
Read a little bit 📚
Afternoon☁️:
Wrote out a plan for what I'll study each day until exams
Practiced my flute for a while
Spun my houseplants so they get sun on the opposite side ☀️
How my work went:
Writing out a plan for my studying went well, though it was a bit stressful to realize how fast time will fly by. Even though exams are in June, I still feel I'm starting review too late, which is crazy. This is the earliest I've ever started review. I reviewed Spanish yesterday, yet I felt like it was very random, so I decided to sit down today and plan my studying. This way, when I reach tomorrow, I won't take forever to decide what subject I want to review, I'll read my list and know. Overall, it was helpful and I printed it out (as seen in picture above). I used very general statements to give myself a bit of structure but not feel pressured into practicing one thing. This way, I can decide what within each subject needs the most help, and what needs just quick review. It also allows me to see how long until exams without looking it up. I'm hopeful for this to work, and I'll keep updating on my progress!
Quote of the day:
"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." -Barack Obama
Be your change,
Stxr
(pronounced 'styx-er' in my head, not star, but I guess you can pronounce it either way, as long as you SPELL it stxr and not star. Yes, it does means star though.)

Guess who didn’t have any homework today :D! That means I finally started reading a new essay: A Mathematician‘s Lament by Paul Lockhart. I’m on page 9 and loving it so far! I guess I’m loosing my hate for math after all; the essay is giving me a new perspective on math - one that makes me curious to find out more about mathematics outside of the educational system.
Todays highlight: A very kind someone offered to write me a list of new therapists I could contact (very unexpected but made my day!!)

fun fact for math teachers: easier topics with quicker-to-finish problems don’t need extra problems to make up for the time you’re no longer spending doing homework. If it’s so quick and easy you don’t need extra practice, and the point of homework is to give practice, not to spend a given extra amount of time on school. It is your job to help people learn, not to subtract time from their lives!

Day 5/100 of productivity
Morning☀️:
Daily yoga
Healthy oatmeal and banana breakfast
Got ready and went to school
Had a half productive study hall, got some studying done
Mid-Day⛅️:
Got a good score on my push up test in gym
Took a walk
Went out to some stores
Afternoon⛅️:
Tried cream of mushroom soup (delicious!)
Did all my homework
Studied an old vocabulary list from Spanish
Practiced my flute
Diagnosed & began treatment for my aquarium plants that have begun to turn brown (turns out they dislike the ammonia in the tank from cycling. I was told it was okay to have the plants in there but clearly its not. I have them separate now and will re-introduce them when the tank is cycled.)
Took a hot relaxing shower
I'd do the 'how my work went' section and explain my study methods etc, but I'm laying in bed and very tired right now. I spent all my energy being social at school today, which I don't usually do as an introverted person. My energy drains super quick when engaging in social activities unfortunately.
Anyways, keep being awesome,
-Stxr <3

My favourite job description is being the 911-homework-operator for my 9 and 12 year old cousins.
Because yes I absolutely wil disect every big math problem until it’s a little one they can solve and then bit by bit build the problem back up so they can understand how it works.
And yes I absolutely will be doodling and cracking jokes in the midst of this process so they can laugh while doing math because not all math is bad math and someone needs to show that to them.
Anyways, this is just a 911-homework-operator appreciation post 🤗
