Anime Talk - My Favorite Manga Ending
I have talked about this series before, Ron Kamonohashi's Deranged Deductions (or Kamonohashi Ron no Kindan Suiri in Japanese). It has been one of my favorite manga since I started reading it on April 28. 2022, and I have now finished reading it on July 6. 2025 (the final chapter coming out on the day before).
I am writing this post to cope with the fact that another good manga has finished. Last fall it was Oshi no Ko. Now it's this one. It's not like the other manga series I follow aren't good, but especially Kamonohashi was capable of satisfying my hunger for murder mysteries.
In total, the manga is now 170 chapters long.
What I will do now is give my thoughts on the ending. I will not tell anyone what it's about, as I hope others will start reading this interesting detective manga.
Honestly, I think the ending was a bit cliché. It was a good one, but I think I had expected more, and twice, Amano starts some sort of explanation with something like "Oh yeah, and this happened too". For the sake of keeping the readers interested, I understand why she did it. You only have so many pages, and dividing this chapter into several would not keep the readers interested. She had 48 pages to wrap up her story. She also does something else that I like because of what it shows, but it's still a bit of a cliché and a bit of a flat way to end such a good series, in my opinion. It actually sums up my thoughts on the ending quite well. It's good, but compared to the rest of this manga, it's a little flat. I can't say what she should have done. I'm pretty sure I couldn't have done it any better myself. But I think I had expected a bit more.
I realize that not everyone shares my thoughts and opinion, and that's perfectly fine. Just please accept that I'm allowed to have mine too.
I am sad to see this manga end because it means I will not get my (almost) weekly dosis of deranged deductions, but I am glad Amano got to wrap up her manga in the way she wanted. I'm glad I got to spend over 3 years reading her story and enjoying her mysteries and her wonderful characters. I think Ron and Toto are the ones I will miss the most in the weeks to come.
It's going to be weird that I won't see them as frequently anymore.
Well, hopefully we will eventually be treated to another season of the anime. Last season was a bit of a cliff hanger, and I want to see characters that will be introduced in their animated form. I really hope they don't keep sitting on it until forever and a half has passed.
Well, it's not really an anime talk, but more so a manga talk, but who cares? I don't really. It's an excuse to talk about this series for me. I hope I get more in time.

Anime Talk - Fantasy Anime League Update
Yeah, remember back in March when I mentioned that I had signed up for this little challenge on MyAnimeList? If not, don't worry. The link is here. Anyway, I promised I'd make an update about how I did, so now that I have my final rank, it's about time I share.
So, I misremembered a little bit. I said I was watching 5 of the anime that I was betting on, but it was actually only 4.
The anime are as follows:
Active:
Wind Breaker Season 2
Lazarus
Vigilante Boku no Hero Academia
Kuroshitsuji Midori no Majo
Your Forma
Benched:
Zatsu Tabi: That’s Journey
Gorilla no Kami kara Kagosareta Reijou
Rock wa Lady no Tashinami Deshite
This was how I started out. Of these, I was watching Vigilante Boku no Hero Academia, Your Forma, Zatsu Tabi: That's Journey and Gorilla no Kami Kara Kagosareta Reijiou.
In the second week, I swapped Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler in case you don't know) with Rock wa Lady no Tashinami Deshite, and in the following week, I made Kuroshitsuji active again by swapping it with Your Forma. I dropped Your Forma in the fourth week because I felt like I was missing so much information every time I sat down to watch it, like I was watching a season 2 without watching season 1 first. I clearly wasn't alone in dropping it.
Making an anime the Ace gives more points if it is the highest ranking on one's team. However, an anime becomes ineligible to be the Ace after having 50000+ users watching. Both Wind Breaker and Lazarus had that within the first week and Vigilante got it after another few weeks. For the Summer 2025 FAL challenge, they have changed the number of users watching to 70000, I assume to avoid Aces becoming inelligeble within the first week.
So, how did each anime do?
Active:
Wind Breaker Season 2 (1st place. Yay!)
Lazarus (2nd place. More yay!)
Vigilante Boku no Hero Academia (4th place. Even more yay!)
Kuroshitsuji Midori no Majo (9th place.)
Rock wa Lady no Tashinami Deshite (10th place)
Benched:
Zatsu Tabi: That’s Journey (33th place)
Gorilla no Kami kara Kagosareta Reijou (34th place)
Your Forma (42nd place)
All my active anime were within top 10, so I'm definitely happy about that, and the only one that did poorly was Your Forma, which just proves that I was right to drop it.
Oh, and how did I do?
Well, with a total score of 2,564,943, I ranked 2167 overall. Doesn't sound very high does it? Well, it's apparently within the top 9%. I did use one of the wildcards, the booster. This became accessible after the 10th week and I had 4 choices of what I wanted to do. I picked the booster, which gave me an additional 10,000 points. I used this in the 13th and final week.
Anyway, those are the results for me in MyAnimeList's Fantasy Anime League for the Spring season in 2025. I had a fun time participating and I have signed up for the Summer 2025 FAL challenge too, which starts today. It's fun if you follow anime, and if you don't it might also be fun to take a gamble. All you need to participate is a MyAnimeList account, courage to take a chance and a couple of minutes each week to log in and consider the actions you want to take.

Anime Talk - In Memory of Sayuri
Did I think I'd get to write this? No! Of course not! And I'm sad to be writing this, but... I have to.
You know the first ending song of the fourth season of Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia), or the ending song of Boku dake ga Inai Machi (Errased), or the ending song for Lycoris Recoil? These songs were all sung by the same singer-songwriter, Sayuri.
Sayuri was born on June 7. 1996, meaning that had I been born in Japan, we would have been the same year in school. She passed away September 20. 2024, only 28 years old. The fact that she is my age and died is shocking enough, but I actually also enjoyed her music.
I never watched Lycoris Recoil, but I have watched the other two anime I listed. I I have enjoyed Sayuri's music for years. She has a very characteristic voice, you can always tell when it's her singing. I'd say I like her voice, but I know others might not, as it isn't the kind of sound we are as used to in Western music.
I first heard her voice in Boku dake ga Inai Machi (Errased) I think. I tried to learn the lyrics to the song even. I also tried to learn the ending song of Kuzu no Honkai (Scum's Wish) back when I watched that. I have been watching MHA since 2017, and when the fourth season came out and I heard the ending..., well, I loved that song too, of course. My Hero Academia is equipped with many good OP and ED tracks, but I think the fourth season has the best ones by far, having both my favorite MHA OP (Polaris by Blue Encount) and my favorite MHA ED (Koukai no Uta by Sayuri).
In 2020 when we were all stuck inside I started watching a cute romance called Yesterday wo Utatte (Sing "Yesterday" for Me). Imagine my surprise when it turned out that the second ED was a song called Aoibridge by Sayuri? I of course knew it was her the moment the singer started singing. She has been singing anime OPs and EDs since and even published more songs, but I have not heard that. I have also not watched Golden Kamuy where Sayuri teams up with another Japanese band that I like to make an OP. The band is called My First Story, the song is called Reimei (or Dawn in English), and I definitely recommend listening to that.
In this day and age, most people get to grow old, even those who are famous, even though I know there is that musician's club which Sayuri just missed out on.
Before she died, she got to release many songs. She was popular among anime fans and popular in Japan, of course. From what I could read out of the Wikipedia article about her, she reallly enjoyed street performances. While she considered it practice, she actually missed doing it when she didn't do them. Also according to the Wikipedia article, she passed away due to a cronic illness. She had announced a hiatus in July that same year, due to voice problems. While I think that this is not the whole truth, I think that Sayuri and her loved ones are entitled to keep the cause of her death to themselves.
I learned of her death from the comments of a comment to a video of a playlist of anime songs, in which someone had written "RIP Sayuri", which made me look into it, of course. The song featured on the video is actually her debut single, Mikazuki, which was used as the ED soundtrack for Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace.
What makes me so sad to learn of Sayuri's passing is not just the fact that she passed far too soon. It is also the fact that there will be no more music coming from her. Her iconic voice has been immortalized in her released songs, but there will never be more of this. We'll have to do with what we have. This thought is saddening. It feels like I have been taking her and her work for granted.
I hope she rests in peace and I hope that her loved ones are coping with the loss of her. I will go and try to cope with the loss of her voice.
From Mikazuki
Koyoi mo zujou de wa kirei na mangetsu ga kirakira
Tsugi wa kimi no ban da to waratteiru
(Tonight too, a beautiful full moon sparkles above my head
Laughing, as it says "the next turn is yours")

Anime Talk - Fantasy Anime League
I don't know if we can really call this an anime talk, but I don't know what else this is going to fall under. Well, I could have chosen not to put this under any category, but... why would I do that?
Anyway, so on MAL (MyAnimeList) they have this sort of challenge where you have to guess what anime gets popular in the upcoming season and accumulate points. You play the anime a bit like cards with active anime and benched anime.
So far, I have not participated. I've known it's there for some time, but I never signed up. Well, I decided to do it this time, just for fun, seeing as I'm a bit bored tonight.
So, what anime are on my team?
Like I'd say! I don't want people to do things just so I can win. I'm not doing it for the win for one thing, and for another, I doubt anyone would and it's against the rules besides. I'm only sharing the fact that I'm doing this because I'm actually a bit excited to see how this goes, and maybe someone finds it fun to see me do this (besides me).
But I will say this. Of the 8 I have chosen (5 active and 3 benched) I'm only planning to watch 5 of them myself, and three of the ones I plan to watch are benched at the moment.
I plan to post here in approximately 13 weeks with the results. I will also reveal the anime I have chosen then. Who knows, if it's fun, I might do it again, but we'll see.
Oh well, wish me luck!

Anime Talk - Tasokare Hotel
I don't really do these anymore. I've been very busy lately and I just haven't felt like sharing my thoughts. I didn't feel like they were being read by others. So, this time, I'm just sharing it for my own sake.
This is, well as usual, about an anime that is currentlly airing. It is called Tasokare Hotel. It's a fantasy, mystery anime based on a game according to MAL.
It is set at a hotel where the guests that arrive are between life and death and usually don't know if they are one or the other. The protagonist, Tsukahara Neko, is one of these herself, but she has taken up the job of working at the hotel while she figures out whether she's dead or alive.
Seeing all the human drama unfold, wishes being realized and trying to solve the mysteries of the guests alongside Tsukahara has been very enjoyable to me.
Along with Tsukahara, there are two other key players, Atori Haruto, who is Tsukahara's senior, and Oosoto Masaki who is a guest at the hotel. Atori seems perfect, but he failed to achieve his dream. Oosoto seems perfect too and allegedly achieved his dream. Well, I think I'll just say that Tsukahara doesn't trust him, and with good reason.
Well, by episode 10 of 12 (Is it really ending in only two more weeks?) things are starting to unravel.
One thing I keep thinking about (the only thing I can safely give away) is whether it turns out that these three people are alive or dead and whether they will live or die. Because, you can be killed, even in this in-between world, and if you kill someone there, you will go to hell.
I think that Atori might be alive, or maybe this is just a hope as he is my favorite character. I think Tsukahara will end up dead, and I think the same will be true for Oosoto. Those two seems like oposite poles and I feel like they'll end up dragging down. I hope I'll be proven wrong on Tsukahara too, but the story has revealed itself to be unpredictable before. It is definitely a possibility. As for Oosoto, I think (or hope) he dies, one way or the other. He's an interesting character and I enjoy the unpredictability he brings, but... well, I think I'll leave it at that about him.
So, really, that was what I wanted to share. It just keeps taking up space in my head and I needed it out somehow, so this is my outlet.
Now I'm getting curious about the game. I haven't played it, but I wonder if someone else has, and if I could. I bet I can't. Either it has only be released in Japan, or maybe the US, or it's for a console I don't have (PC and phone) or it's not turn-based, even if it seems more like a visual novel with no battles at all.
I look forward to seeing how the story ends.

Since it's only been forever and a half since you started this game, why not? I haven't been here in a while anyway.
Like Solar, I'll take some liberties by counting every work from The Love You Fall Into as just one work. I will also try to make some variations, as most of my later works are one-shots for Assassination Classroom.
The Last Roll (Assassination Classroom): The roll is lying on the plate in the bakery, behind the glass.
The Love You Fall into (Assassination Classroom): The brush is running through my hair as I sit on the stool trying to pretend that this is not happening.
By your side (Assassination Classroom): I woke to the sound of my phone ringing before my alarm had even sounded.
Dumb Luck (SK8 The Infinity): One boy was sitting in a chair.
I will go with you (SK8 The Infinity): "Take me to Canada!" Reki said one fateful day in late November.
Danger Zone (Precarious Hearts) (Ace of Diamonds): The headquarters of the police in Tokyo was in a large white building with a large front door, painted in black.
Chocolate (Ace of Diamonds): It was a late evening at Seidou, and Miyuki was just about ready to head back to his room after some late swinging practice, when he saw something odd.
Figure Swimming (Free!/Yuri!! On Ice): "Come on Rei-chan!" Nagisa exclaimed, dragging Rei along down the street with all the shops on either side in Hasetsu.
Dramatic CD (Kiss Him Not Me): Serinuma came to the table, carrying her lunch with her.
Because I Will Be Yours Alone (TRICKSTER): The car stopped in front of the building.
All stories can be found on AO3, they are listed chronologically with The Last Roll being published in 2024 and Because I Will Be Yours Alone in 2017.
So, what do I think all of this has in common? Hmm... I think, no matter what, I try to set up the scene from the beginning. I think, no matter what, at least one element in the first sentence is important to the rest of the story. I also sometimes jump into the action from the beginning, like in I Will Go With You and Figure Swimming. But then there is a story like Chocolate, where I spend so much time just setting the scene.
However, I'm not the best at analyzing. If anyone else spot something, they're free to let me know what they see.
Still, it's been fun to look at.
Anyone who sees this and wants to do it can consider themselves tagged.
Tag Game - Writing Patterns
Rules: list the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there's a pattern.
I'm going to take @tuulikannel's suggestion and include WIPs, but I'm also going to pick some of my favorite fics instead of just the most recent.
The Guardian (WIP) - From the moment I was created, it has been my job to make sure the world stays on its path.
ASR Round One (completed on AO3) - “Nagisa~” Karma says in that singsong voice he always has. “You excited about the tournament? I know I am.”
Kristmas Karma (completed on AO3) - It’s only the first of December and my parents are already fighting.
Gerit (completed OG, half posted on AO3) - I didn’t remember much. All I knew was that I was lying on the ground when they found me.
Students of Despair (multi work completed on AO3) - Here at Hope’s Peak Academy, nothing but the brightest minds are brought together.
Life in Retail (WIP posted on AO3) - I feel so lucky to have a job.
Magic Shuu (WIP posted on AO3) - *Yawn* I rub the back of my neck, my focus running thin after hours of studying.
Ghosts of Christmas (completed on AO3) - My son is perfect.
Zodiac Killers (WIP on AO3) - All I know is that when I woke up yesterday, I was normal.
Krystar First Fragment (completed OG but in the process of being rewritten) - A plethora of colors paint the space in front of me like a canvas.
I was arguing whether or not to include the second sentence on most of them (and caved on two of them) when I realized that's definitely a pattern then. I tend to write first sentences that need, require a follow up. The "intro" to the story tends to be two sentences for me, instead of the attention getting first line. (Ex: Gerit, which I posted the second sentence for) The "story" tends to start with the third sentence for me, which I find interesting.
So the set up is "very vague and usually short first sentence", "slightly more details you didn't know you needed second sentence", and then "flow change, exposition/actions begin". Just because, I'm going to list a few examples showcasing this simply because I'm entertained by it.
Ghosts of Christmas: 1) My son is perfect. 2) I’m so proud of him. 3) The two of us walk around town, gathering up supplies for tomorrow when everything.....
Nagisa Shiota: 1) Don’t you worry, my sweet child… 2) The truth you need will become clear soon enough. 3) I wake up to a white ceiling and a headache. Flashes of memories race through my........
Cuddles and Kisses: 1) “Alright.” The book snaps shut and I grin, hoping to summon a real demon. 2) “That should be everything.” 3) A few minutes go by and nothing happens.
Pandora's Box: 1) I must’ve fallen asleep. 2) My eyes ease open, lazily searching my surroundings. 3) The classroom is empty, but I stop where the windows are supposed to be.
Now that I'm looking, it's everywhere. Sometimes the exposition/actions start on the fourth sentence instead of the third, but it's always there. Huh, who'd have thought.
Anyway, you see any other patterns? As for tagging others... @heyhellohihowareyou and @jackiewepps if you're up for it.

Got invited to Epel's hometown Harveston. I wasn't able to join in the Sledathon because I don't have magic still... 😝 but playing in the snow was really fun. I just don't like how cold it is, but eh, at least I was given something nice and warm to wear.
Epel's grammy is really cool. I actually really like how quickly she goes from sweet and nice to strong and intimidating. Reminds me of some of the people back in Thera... Anyway, I'm really getting into this rivalry Night Raven College has with the Royal Sword Academy. It was neck and neck in the sledathon! I won't spoil how it actually ended though. 😉 I will say that as fun as snow is, it's about at tempermental as Epel's grammy. Avalanches are serious business, and man is Sebek loud... Doesn't surprise me in the slightest that his voice caused one.
Playing in the snow does sort of make me wish we had weather in Thera. I mean, lightning storms where the sky just blatantly attacks you is terrifying, but snow is nice. I like snow. But why does it have to be so cold? 🥶
