I’m a former graphic designer. It's been 10 years since I graduated from college, and suddenly, I’m feeling super old.

I’ve never mentioned this here, but for my capstone project, I actually created an illustrated children’s book. I never shared it online, but you can find it on my university’s website—though the images are in very low quality. I’m not sure if anyone would be interested in taking a look at it, but anyway, I’ve uploaded it to my Google Drive.

When I wrote it, I felt a bit embarrassed to talk about it. Sharing your work feels like putting yourself out there to be judged by total strangers. You need a strong heart to handle criticism.

But I think I’m too old now to be shy—so here it is: the illustrated book and the report.

They’re written in Portuguese because I’m Brazilian, so sorry to those who can’t understand! Paciência!

HI! I’M BACK!

Sorry for being away for so long. It’s been eight years since I posted my last drawing. So, what happened? Long story short, I moved to Japan and I also had a creative crisis. I just didn’t feel like drawing; it wasn’t fun for me anymore. It was partly because I was working too much, and partly because I didn’t have anything I truly wanted to draw. Lack of love, maybe? Then last year, a lot of my dreams came true. My friend, who I hadn’t seen for almost a decade, came to visit me and we travelled around Japan for two weeks, I visited Ghibli Museum and Ghibli Park, met my favorite band Efterklang and I even managed to get a signed CD from them (I still scream whenever I remember it!), I finally went to study abroad… and I am inspired again.

Eight years away, eight years of stories to talk about. So this is the first of several drawings that I plan to post in the future.

About the drawing - this is the Cebuano singer Ferdinand Aragon. I am currently obsessed with his music; his voice is so addicting! (his performance video) I went to Cebu, Philippines, for two months to study English properly, and I think my English is slightly better than before.
